With so few choices for reasonably priced golf in the South Bay, it's nice to know some courses take pride in their course conditions. It's even nicer to know they (the golf course managers) read the reviews here on GK simply because they know they get unbiased reports of their course they wouldn't ordinarily get from their regular patrons.

Conditions here at CW are great. Not good, but great. Why great? Simple. The greens are well maintained. There are a few unrepaired divots but nothing a few self conscious golfers can't fix. We are after all stewards of the golf course as much if not more than the course operators. Balls rolled pretty true on the putting surface. Greens were receptive to high shots with decent release. Fairways are in good shape. Tee boxes are relatively flat. Some bunkers are a little thin but nothing a good shot can't get out of. One hole, 8, the sand in the bunkers are a little on the thin side.

Pace of play was quick. Played just before the $18 twilight golf cart special. (That deal is Twilight golf starting at 4pm includes a cart). We paid just $18 to walk. This course is pretty much what you see is what you get. Not a lot of trouble off the tee box except 6 through 9 and wide open so errant shots are recoverable.

Overall, CW is recommended. They take care of their course and if you're on a budget but desire decent golf conditions (unlike .... ahem... Victoria) this is definitely a course you should place on your rotation.

Well I just finished playing this course today and made it thru all 18. Tee off was at 11:30 and finished at 5:30.Yes it was a 6 hour round. Our front was about 3 hours and 30 mins.(really.) I like this course layout and the conditions were pretty good. Tees were a little hammered but nice fairways and the greens have rebounded nicely. All in all a good place to spend the WHOLE afternoon. Slow pace zzzzzzz. Rhythm killer.

Just got back from our round at Chester Washington. Conditions wise I agree with everything Ringworld said in the previous review. Tee boxes were above average. Rough was mostly lush with some patchy areas. Fairways and greens were in great shape especially for the amount of play this course gets...and that's where we had our only issue but it was a BIG issue. Our tee time was 9:56 and we teed off right at 10am so that was fine. But walking off the 18th green I checked the time and it was 3:58pm. Do the math folks. I don't care where you are that is UNACCEPTABLE!!! 6 hour round and there was nothing but groups ahead and behind for as far as the eye can see. 5 somes everywhere (typical American Golf) but can we get some more spacing between tee times if this is going the be the end result? I don't think I'll be back as I talked to some regulars on the way out and they said 5-5.5 hours is the norm. Uhh no thanks.

Course conditions here are in my humble opinion -- Great! Greens are firm and roll true. Fairways are a little on the thin side but that will change as the weather continues to improve. We do live in paradise and the weather has been cooperating. Rough is thick, sticky, and tough. Sand in bunkers are well stocked, no thin lies here. Tee boxes are flat. Great deal after 2PM $18 which includes a cart. Pace of play was a little slow but definitely understandable because of the deal. Hats off to the staff here they really try to please you. I showed up late for my tee time. My buddies teed off on time and when I arrived I told the starter about my predicament and they tried to get me out to join my group. Great service, great deal on golf unbeatable combo.

Played here on sat. 1/14/12. Pace of play was good, got done in 4 hrs. The fairways were really good, greens were slow on a few holes but mostly fast, didn't hit any bunkers so can't really comment on them this time. The tee boxes were decent, still not all level, but pretty good. played with a pretty good group, I think I may have been the slowest out there. The starter is always helpful and courteous. Since this is my home course I may be a little biased, but I can't help it.

Played yesterday during the break in the weather. Greens in good/great shape. They roll a lot faster and very true. Fairways in good shape and tee boxes are flat. Sand in bunker is well stocked. Pace of play however is another situation. Two groups ahead were perhaps the slowest I was ever forced to play behind. They were driving in carts and we were walking and we still caught up to twosome playing ahead of us even with the group ahead of the slow group were making good time. That is not the fault of the golf course but the golfer. Overall I enjoy this course. Conditions are pretty good considering the amount of play. Hats off to the Golf Course Superintendent and Management.

Course in good shape. it will get better. Played yesterday during break in storm. No on on the course except a few groups. Finished in a blistering pace of 3 hours for 18 holes. Greens coming back from aeration. They will be great in a week of good weather. Putts are a little bumpy but that will smooth out. According to the GM Mark they are verticutting and the extra work is really paying off on the greens. Sand in bunkers well stocked. Fairways in great shape. They punched/flattened the tee boxes so they will come back really well in around a week/two. It's soft but very playable.

Course is coming back very nicely and would recommend playing here. Great value for the course in the middle of the South Bay.

Played in the South Bay Cup match play event today. Aeration alert. Instead of doing the remaining half of the greens earlier in October, they were done this last week. Fresh holes and sand which were not there when I played here last Sunday. Otherwise, the course was in good condition. I like that they are growing the rough more than they used to and they have tightened up the fairways. Both Fairways and rough were lush. The parts of the greens which had not been punched were firm and medium fast. I like the lay out. 5 hour round mainly because the front nine was slow.
