Played Sunday (9/4/11, 7:00 t-time). Course played in just over 4 hrs and after the second hole it was walk to the tee and hit. The course is in as good shape as I have ever seen it. Everyone said how good the greens were, not fast but very smooth.

Called Sunday afternoon for a Monday tee time. Could not do it do to not having a L.A. Reservation card which is understandable. The lady on the phone said to come in the morning there are plenty of openings. My partner and I did and the starter was a real JERK. We asked to get a time and he snapped at us and said there is a tournament today good luck they are not open till after 11 am. The starter then answered the phone and snapped at those people too. Well it has been 2 years since I played there and will not go back. That reminded me of why I do not go there.

Played Hansen Dam at the last minute (Super Twilight) with a potential client last Thursday and I was actually impressed with the track. I haven't had many positive experiences with courses that are rates with a single "$" and was a little worried. But, I have many friends that have played the Los Angeles County supervised courses and say that they are not bad at all.

I made a tee time for 5:00 PM and was quoted a residence rate of $12.00 to walk. My client wanted to walk, so I figured the price was a steal for a decent length course. The course was not crowded at all and we had a twosome waiting for us on Hole 1.

This track is not hard but, has a few challenging holes. There are some slight elevation changes and a few guarded greens but, for the most part is inviting for golfers of all skill levels. Single cappers could shoot red numbers here and mid cappers can flirt with break 80's as a nice confidence booster!

After making bird on Hole 1, I thought it was going to be a great round. The pace was decent on the front but, blazing fast on the back. We finished the round in under 4-hours walking. After a triple and two-doubles, I ended up with an 83. Not bad, but disappointing to myself.

If you're ever in the area and are looking for a nice county course for real cheap, this place has your name written all over it. Definitely walkable but, pull cart recommended. No beverage cart person at all. Green were a little on the slower side. Practice greens seemed faster. They do have a driving range and plenty of close parking.

Walked up and got right out (6:45). Right at 4hrs to play, the way golf should be. Course is in good shape, but the greens are SLOW! Had a great time my three other playing partrers.

Played Sunday 6/12. Had a 2:06 reservation but let our twosome go out at 1:45. The course was empty for a Sunday afternoon and we finished in under 4 hours! Fastest round I've ever played...and this on a muni on the weekend....and we were walking! Be aware that this is not the easiest course to walk. There are many hills to hike up and down. The course is in fantastic condition. The fairways are as lush as higher end courses. The rough is lush and just thick enough to grab your hosel. The greens are rolling true and require you to honor the breaks. Much better conditions than the Sepulveda complex now.

Greens have nearly healed from aeration about 3 weeks ago; you can see the holes, but it is not really bumpy. Depending on your line, you could get caught in a row of holes that would pull your ball off line, otherwise it is fine. By next weekend, it should be nice. Tees lush and level. Fairways were mostly lush with good lies. At least the two times I found fairways. Maybe a little tight lie here and there. Sand traps have good sand. Pace of play at just about Four and a half hours. No waiting.

A bit late on my review, but played Hansen Thursday 3/31 with my buddy and another two-some, going out just after 3:00 pm for a twilight round on an unseasonably warm afternoon. This was my first time playing since they flopped the nines and slightly reconfigured the current front nine. I think the old set up allowed you to ease into the round more with a wide open, slightly downhill par four and then a pretty straight forward par five. Now you begin with two short, but eccentric par fours which emphasize course management and risk/reward right off the bat, but I don't think this is a necessarily bad thing. The second hole in particular will tempt you with its short length and high tee box, and playing it for a conservative par (laying up to your best full wedge distance) will seem almost too easy. But there is a lot trouble guarding the reachable green if you decide to go for it, not the least of which is to make sure you are hitting at the correct green. From he tee box, the 9th green looks like it should be your target (and used to be). On the flip side, the current 18th hole probably works better there as a finishing hole than it's previous position at nine. It's the longest par 4, with an uphill approach to the green to make it play longer. You want to know how you've been playing on the day and be warmed up before deciding what your target score will be for this hole. Bogey is very respectable for a lot of people. Otherwise, generally large greens with a mix of open and strategic holes and plenty of opportunities to pull out driver. As far as the course conditions I am at loss to think of any negatives. Tee boxes were all good and level enough, fairways devoid of brown or bare spots but with roll, rough varied from minimal to punitive, and the greens were receptive with a good medium fast pace and a minimum of ball marks. It's been commented that this is one of the nicest conditioned of the public city courses and I think currently, it must be. Unfortunately, it looks like it is coming up on aeration next week, so go now if you can. Twilight started at 2:00 on our day. Starting at 3:00-ish we should have easily finished 18, but as a group we were frustratingly slow. The goups that went by us finished easily. I finished 16, walked over to the 150 mark on 18th fairway and played a ball from there in as the light was fading. Missed 17 completely.

Went out as a twosome on Saturday morning. We got just enough break from the rain to squeeze in a round. Despite the heavy rain during the early morning hours, the fairway was in fair condition and was not overly saturated. The greens were very fast and soft. The sand was hard and very difficult to play from. Some of the tee boxes were very bare and was hard to find a decent patch to tee off. We got stuck behind a slow foursome but they were nice enough to let us play through before the back 9. Finished the round in 4 hours, which is probably the best you can do on a Saturday morning at Hansen. It's definitely one of the better muni courses in LA. I was happy to get my golf fix before the crazy rain on Sunday.
