Greens were on the slow and fuzzy side, fairways were descent, sand traps were really good, rough not very penal. Try to get out there sooner than later...

Played this AM in under 3 hours (thanks to the first group letting me play through). Course is in decent shape for all the hot weather we have been having. Fairways had been mowed and provided good roll out and lies. Rough was about 1/4 - 1/2 inch and penal early morning being wet. Bunkers all appeared fine and maintenance was cleaning them. Tee boxes were no issue. Greens were slow (wet and a little long due to the recent heat) but putted fine ( found some divot issues, likely left over from last evening and lots of old marks still visible). Customer service excellent at all levels. Nice course to get in a quick 18 and fun to play.

Out early this morning and POP was 2.5 hours. Course is (IMO) in very good condition. Tee boxes clean, level, tee friendly. Fairways provided good lies and roll all morning. Very little if any rough. Traps appeared fine and heard no issues. Greens were in very good condition, both in holding shots and putting. Customer service excellent. They have removed some more trees since my last visit and also are mowing in front of and around greens for better chipping/putting. An enjoyable round of golf on a good walking course.

Played my GK Cup match at Los Amigos today with Cobra1788 and two other friends, and had a 9:40 tee time that appeared in jeopardy when we first arrived as there was a tournament scheduled to start ahead of us, but after some back and forth with the starter, he managed to squeeze us out before the large group so that was great.

Conditions at Los Amigos are very good again from tee to green, with the only real flaws being some uneven tee boxes and the greens, while being covered very nicely, are in dire need of being rolled as they were definitely on the slow and bumpy side.

Fairway coverage and the rough both very good, while the sand traps have a very fine quality to them, with the exception of the guy on 18 who put his foot into it and left a very big shelf which happened to collect my ball and made it impossible to hit out of there. Thanks, buddy.

POP was actually pretty good all things considered, but it still did come in at around 4:45. No cart girls to be seen, though - that would have been nice on a busy Saturday.

All in all, for the price and value, it's a good time to go to Los Amigos currently. Just get those greens rolled and a little faster and even out those tee boxes a bit and you've got a serious winner right now.

Played Los Amigos with two nice singles Carl amd Jason. Told them about Gk and encourage them to check us out.

Greens were smooth with ocassional bumps running at 8.5/9. Fairways have good coverage and rough was not very long with areas of dirt amd dry patches.

Sand traps were maintained and semifluffy. Tee boxes in good shape amd level.

Layout is unique mixture of holes.

Customer service was great and snack shop was good value.

Will return in near future.

Played at 10:00am on Saturday, 4/16/16, with my monthly club - otherwise unlikely I'd play here. Very windy in Orange County but was surprised there was no wind in Downey on this clear warm sunny day. Got a little "normal" light breeze from the west at the end of the back nine, but conditions were great for scoring. This was the best I've ever seen Los Amigos greens in the several years I've played here - great depth and coverage, rolled smooth, but only about medium speed. Too bad they are scheduled to aerify 4/18-19, as these greens are a pleasure to play. With the upcoming maintenance, the greens were drier than usual and didn't hold shots as well as usual, and the slower speed might have been due to decreased mowing as aerification time approached. But overall the greens were great to play on - they were more lush and a little slower than the practice green, so that took a couple holes to figure out. Good lies in the fairways, and rough had been cut very short. Easy to play a variety of runup or pitch shots around the greens. Bunkers had good sand. Tees were mostly OK - very firm and dry; but some are seriously unlevel - hello #14. And the design of hole #17 is just stupid! From the back tees, 225 yards into the wind over water, with water left and trees right. And a newly built Biarritz green that shows every footprint placed on it. OK for a casual round.

Played GK Match Play with Greg (Caligolfer1031) yesterday. It was a perfect day and the golf conditions here matched the weather -- perfect.

Greens were a bit slow but held their line. Loads of foot prints and cleat marks but that is not the fault of the course, it's the joker running around with track shoes. Greens are perhaps the best I have played in quite a while. Fairways were well covered. They are working on the tee box on 2 and will have a temporary green on 18 for a redesign. Sand in bunkers are well stocked and good mix of fluffy with hard packed underneath. Spoke briefly with Vince the Superintendent and complimented him on his work. This course was a dog with great bones until he came along and fixed her up to what we all knew her to be, a beauty of a course.

Pace of play horrible. Waited on every shot. Ended up being 5 hour round. And my only compliant but if you saw this course you would be playing here too. It's that much worth it considering the proximity to where I live and the conditions and price... definitely a deal worthy of playing.

Played 3/26/16 with the Altadena Golf Club away tournament. We all enjoyed playing this course and it presented challenges for all of us. It was a long round because two clubs were having tournaments. The course is well kept overall. It is not a long course but it definitely will present all golfers with a challenge. The greens were all in great shape, rolled well and generally smooth. The rough here will definitely grab your club and can make things difficult. The course was very green with the recent rains and overall was challenging and fun. The driving range, you hit off of the grass which is always a bonus. The restaurant/bar was friendly, fast, and every thing I had was fantastic - from snacks, food, and some brews!

Returned to Los Amigos on Sat and had a fun day with a buddy and a cool twosome we were paired up with. Course was crazy crowded - mix of rain today and Super Bowl next weekend. Round ended up taking a little over five hours.

From the back tees, course in very dormant condition. As my friend said, it's often better to play from the short rough with the fairways so dry and often bare. But it's not awful. The tee boxes are in pretty rough shape though, however sand remains really good.

Greens varied a bit from hole to hole - definitely in better shape on the back 9. Held shots well, rolled true, but a few too many unrepaired ball marks. Overall though pretty good shape there.

Over $50 for greens fee and cart is a bit much in current condition - get an online deal or use that money elsewhere right now. They had this place in top shape not long ago so let's hope they get it back there soon as I do think this is a great course for the 12-22 handicapper to get some confidence, but not feel it's being handed to them.
