Played Los Amigos on Saturday at 10:45 with two friends, walking + push cart for $43 or something, playing from the back tees (blues). We had an insufferable group in front of us who were playing multiple balls and had three people in one cart, so that was annoying - luckily the marshal came out near the 7th hole and kicked one of them out.

As for the course itself, the front nine is considerably better shape than the back nine, at least in terms of the greens. They're pretty nice on the front, not fast or anything, but good coverage, a few ball marks, but receptive and rolling pretty true. On the back? Bit of a nightmare - lots of dead areas, moldy spots, and crazy quilt-like patches and fungus of some kind. Not good at all. It's very strange that they're in such different shape.

Fairways though have pretty good Muni coverage to be fair, and the rough is a good length to test you, but not be unfair. The bunkers have very nice sand in them as usual, so big props for that, but many of the tee boxes are beat up and rock hard - need some work there.

Unfortunately the round took quite a while under the hot sun, waiting two and three groups deep on numerous holes starting on the 10th and in many spots all the way to the 17th tee box - that's pretty annoying, very hard to get a rhythm.

Overall though, Los Amigos remains a good option for a pretty stress-free round with good conditions, but a little more help in the POP could go a long way, and a few of those little blemishes around the track could be fixed up to make it really nice again and one of the better bargains in the LA area. I'm sure it will be better again soon.

Oh yeah, no cart girl to be seen all day on a busy Saturday on a very hot day - that would have been a nice touch!

Played Los Amigos on Saturday afternoon and tee'd off about 3:30. We were a twosome behind a 3 , which in turn were behind a 5 for the front nine. We got right out without a reservation.
The course is in overall good shape, The fairways were very nice, without much damage at all. The rough was good, a few bare spots and not overly penal. The bunkers had great sand in them, best I have seen here. The only problem is, it was late in the day and this is a low price muni, so the traps were not cared for all that great all day. Looked like people would rake everything, but their foot prints.
The greens were the biggest problem, they rolled with a good speed, but the ball marks on some of the greens were out of control. No way anybody could fix them all. Since it was late in the day the greens were a little shaggy and with all the ball marks, getting the ball to the hole on a good line was not the easiest thing to do. I think a big problem lies not only with people not fixing their marks, but the greens were very soft, I even left a pitch mark coming out of a green side bunker. If the course would either firm up the greens or roll them, this could help with all the marks.
Pace of play was right at 4 hours. but drinking 20-somes can slow down pace just a bit.
I will continue to come back to this course, as it is always in decent shape, easy to get on, cheap and has a fun layout with a variety of holes.
Note to course: When booking a wedding party near the 18th green, make sure the caterer does not set up their tables too close to the 18th greenside bunker, somebody like myself may pull a shot left and hit the table.

2ND WORST GREENS I'VE EVER PLAYED ON. Played on 7/21 in the afternoon. Had not played here in awhile, probably about a year or more. The biggest reason was the greens, and afterwards it remains the biggest reason not to play at this oh so promising course. The greens were easily worse than I remembered and might rank as the second worst greens I have played on in my life. The worst was Chester Washington about 15 years ago, when I vividly recalled a flattened dandelion in front of my putt. The greens at Los Amigos were ungodly slow and bumpy. There is also no fringe to speak of. You have to wonder if the folks who run this course know what golf is. There are also square patches here and there. Some greens also look like they are going to die they are so brown. I did not expect exquisite greens like I experienced at Old Ranch recently, but Chester Washington greens feel like heaven compared to Los Amigos'. And just two days ago, we played the front 9 at Alondra and those would be a relief compared to Los Amigos. If you play at Los Amigos, you obviously don't care at all about putting and you must play quick because your playing partners are used to giving you the putt if it is anywhere near several feet of the hole. Sorry folks, but if you are used to Los Amigos' greens you don't know anything about golf or don't give a s___ about putting. You really should just stop playing at Los Amigos to get the point across that the putting greens are unacceptable. It really pains me to say such harsh things here because this course has so much potential. They've really done a nice job with the fairways. The tee grounds are very uneven, but they use real sand in the bunkers. They have a nice practice area and the range has decent golf balls. You can see where your ball lands on the range. The guy in the pro shop was nice too. But after a handful of holes, it really becomes unbearable. At best, Los Amigos is a practice course. You get to hit tee shots and shots from a halfway decent fairway, but putting at Los Amigos is an absolute joke and I actually made several long putts. If Los Amigos had Victoria's greens, it would be one of the nicest courses around. Personally, I will probably never come back until I hear from someone I know that the greens have improved. The Golf Gods would probably be angry with such greens.

Course is in good shape. Greens are slow, but fairways are about as good as you can expect for a muni with the current drought conditions. I would say above average. Sand is fluffy. 4 hr round midday yesterday with 5some. Nobody behind us. Wide fairways. Great weather. Played blue tees, broke 90, had a couple of beers, paired with great playing partners. What else could you ask for? Nothing. Easy recommend.

Played this AM in under 3 hours (thanks to the first group letting me play through). Course is in decent shape for all the hot weather we have been having. Fairways had been mowed and provided good roll out and lies. Rough was about 1/4 - 1/2 inch and penal early morning being wet. Bunkers all appeared fine and maintenance was cleaning them. Tee boxes were no issue. Greens were slow (wet and a little long due to the recent heat) but putted fine ( found some divot issues, likely left over from last evening and lots of old marks still visible). Customer service excellent at all levels. Nice course to get in a quick 18 and fun to play.

Out early this morning and POP was 2.5 hours. Course is (IMO) in very good condition. Tee boxes clean, level, tee friendly. Fairways provided good lies and roll all morning. Very little if any rough. ... Continue »

Traps appeared fine and heard no issues. Greens were in very good condition, both in holding shots and putting. Customer service excellent. They have removed some more trees since my last visit and also are mowing in front of and around greens for better chipping/putting. An enjoyable round of golf on a good walking course.

Played my GK Cup match at Los Amigos today with Cobra1788 and two other friends, and had a 9:40 tee time that appeared in jeopardy when we first arrived as there was a tournament scheduled to start ahead of us, but after some back and forth with the starter, he managed to squeeze us out before the large group so that was great.

Conditions at Los Amigos are very good again from tee to green, with the only real flaws being some uneven tee boxes and the greens, while being covered very nicely, are in dire need of being rolled as they were definitely on the slow and bumpy side.

Fairway coverage and the rough both very good, while the sand traps have a very fine quality to them, with the exception of the guy on 18 who put his foot into it and left a very big shelf which happened to collect my ball and made it impossible to hit out of there. Thanks, buddy.

POP was actually pretty good all things considered, but it still did come in at around 4:45. No cart girls to be seen, though - that would have been nice on a busy Saturday.

All in all, for the price and value, it's a good time to go to Los Amigos currently. Just get those greens rolled and a little faster and even out those tee boxes a bit and you've got a serious winner right now.

Played Los Amigos with two nice singles Carl amd Jason. Told them about Gk and encourage them to check us out.

Greens were smooth with ocassional bumps running at 8.5/9. Fairways have good coverage and rough was not very long with areas of dirt amd dry patches.

Sand traps were maintained and semifluffy. Tee boxes in good shape amd level.

Layout is unique mixture of holes.

Customer service was great and snack shop was good value.

Will return in near future.
