Tee time at 10:55 this morning and was off 15 minutes late. POP front 9 of 3 hours and a total POP of 5.5 hours. On a Monday. Ouch.

Tee boxes on #5, #11, #14 and #15 were either temporary or moved to a forward box due to the new grass on the back box. Temporary green on #11 about 60 yards short of the actual green.

Not much to add to ringworld's review of conditions other than the greens were playing quite firm (with lots of ballmarks) and be sure to bring a hammer for the tee boxes.

The short review. Conditions above standard. Pace of play abysmal. Back in the day when this course was a dog of a tract I could literally get on quickly and play quickly. Not so nowadays. Conditions rival that of Rio Hondo it's upper scale older brother of a golf course. Greens held their line and ran with med/fast speed. They held shots well with high arching shots. Green complexes very lush and manicured. Fairways had a few thin areas but definitely not the norm with good to decent coverage. Bunkers well stocked with sand. Tee boxes were flat with good rotation so no thin lies. Pace of play was ... stacked. Course was very busy for a Friday morning. Front 8 took 3 hours to play and we literally gave up after the front 9. No sense in turning it into a 6 hour round. Will be back perhaps during mid week with more suitable pace of play. They are working on a few of the tee boxes but not a problem. Hats off to the crew for their tremendous work at improving the course conditions.

Played on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 a.m. Enjoyed the relaxed vibe at check-in, on the range, the putting green, and the first tee. Started on-time as the fog burned off. I don't recall a bad tee box, but there are a couple of temporary tees due to course construction -- which is a good thing. New tee boxes are being built on #11 and #14; and there's also a temporary green on #11. Not sure when this work will be completed, but players will certainly benefit from it.

Fairway turf is generally good and the rough is kept pretty short throughout. Ten fairways feature a right or a left turn, so you'll have to give some thought to club and target selection. The greens are in good shape, but roll a little slow. You'll probably find some ball marks to fix in addition to your own, but that's always the case...isn't it? The surprise is the bunkers. Nice, fluffy sand to hit from. Pace of play was about 4.5 hours, perhaps a Marshal could have speeded it up.

All in all, as a walker and muni player, I enjoyed Los Amigos. It's only $30 for the round, it has improved since the last time I visited, and I'll go back again.

Played yesterday in 3.5 hours. Course is handling the rain very well. But due to recent overnight rain, no maintenance yesterday. # 11 green being rebuilt, so temporary green for time being. Customer service excellent and good food in restaurant. Would expect the conditions of course to improve with recent rains and allowing for time to dry it out. No rating due to course conditions.

Nice time at Los Amigos this Saturday, playing the blues for a reasonable $40 walking rate.

Very impressed with the shape of course today in relation to expectations. Green fairways in all the areas of importance, fairly fast greens in very nice condition (save for a few on the back 9), ample, fluffy sand in bunkers, consistent rough. Tee boxes were somewhat chewed up but nothing too sinister.

Not a lot of length or danger to Los Amigos until the back 9, but it's still a fun track that will get almost every club out of your bag with the exception of the 3 wood. For a fairly easy front half, Los Amigos shows its teeth with the last 3 holes. Nice day out and course is in good shape right now.

I have been wanting to play here, but wanted to see another review before I did, based on previous views. Thanks to Weber, I went out today (Noon) to see for myself. Nothing I can add, from what he has stated, other than after Noon fees are $12 walking for seniors (nice). I did find the greens to be bit rough, given the time of the day and all of the many players who had come through during the morning. No doubt a better idea to play early if possible. Weather was nice and cool and really did not expect as many players, but that was not the case. Starter got me right out and while crowded, pace of play was right on 4 hours. Customer service was excellent at all levels.

Based upon the last review, I did not have high expectations, but I have to say that I found the course to be in probably in some of the best condition I have seen it. Fairways were green with adequate coverage, rough was generally good, both bunkers I was in were very good. Except for #11 green, I thought the greens were just fine, some better than others, but totally playable. Rolled well and receptive to well struck shots. (#12 however was very firm!)

We had a 6:20 am tee time and went off two minutes early AS A TWOSOME?, following a couple threesomes. Pace of play was decent. Finished in about 3 hours 20 min, which normally would be unacceptable, but it was such a beautiful autumn morning .... I didn't care. (The foursome behind us was at least three back,so happy we were not behind them!

They have made some very nice improvements to the course since I last played here, particularly to the bunkering. I noticed #9 is now a par 4, with bunkers fronting the green, which makes it one heck of a three par because I don't hit the ball long enough to fly the bunkers, and no longer can you run the ball up. That is a tough par 3. (Even though it shows as a four par.

No marshal, no refreshment cart, 100 degrees !!!!!!!!!!!! no fresh water on course, fountain water was hot !!!!!!!!!

Played 09/09/16 - The course is a decent layout, fairly wide through out with various challenges. Currently they have a sign posted that explains that they have a problem with the reclaimed water that they use. From what I understand the course spent a lot of money 5 or 6 years ago putting in a reclaimed water supply system but I don't think it's working out like they had planned. The greens show the issue the most, a number of them have brown patches and look infected. Putting through these bad sections is tough to judge the speed and the good green stuff is lumpy and bumpy so from one green to another it's inconsistent. A few holes appear to have temporary greens that are in the process. The drought is definitely taking it's toll on so many courses but there are some that are fairing better than others and if course conditions are a huge issue then perhaps paying a bit extra for a nicer course might be a better choice. Hopefully this water issue will be resolved soon.
