After returning from Vegas on Saturday, got out to Montebello at the last minute on Sunday with some buddies. Tee time 1:22 and balls in the air on time however course was crowded with five somes POP was over 5 hours.

Overall course conditions were mediocre to good. Highlights were the greens which were smooth and lush although the speeds were inconsistent. Mostly slow but some were quicker which was frustrating. Fairways were ok with mostly good coverage. Some areas were thin or burned out. Rough was either not there or 6-8 inches in some spots which swallowed up balls and made them hard to find unless you happened to be on top of them. Bunkers were very thin. Tees were decent although they could do well to rotate them more often. $55 riding is just too high for this course when you can play in the IE for the same prices and have MUCH better courses (Goose, Empire Lakes, Sierra Lakes, Dos Lagos, etc.) One redeeming quality is the layout. Good variety of tight holes and wide open holes. Large pine trees lining every hole that will cost you if you're not straight. Par 3's range from 100 yards downwind to 220 yards into the wind. This course has seen better days. I do enjoy the challenge it presents but won't be back unless conditions improve, just not worth $$$ to me.

1st off with riding 2 some- POP 3:20 brisk walk.

A favorite course- excellent mix of p3's, good variety on holes. P5's all the flat straight.

Tough p4 stretch on front.

Greens excellent rollwise - slow, could not adjust. Cost shot at 70's.

Tees excellent. Fairways good not great. No rough. Not in sand but observation is thin.

Bonus was watching a bluebird dive bombing a cat walking on course- could hear brid screeching 150 yrds away.

Same price has LA City to walk. Fun course to play.

Played this morning at 7 am. POP was good at 4.5 hrs. Greens were punch on 4/3...still very bumpy and running at 7.5. Fairway in good shape but tons of duck poop on fairways on back nine. Customer service was average..tee boxes are moved up because they r releveling the back tees. Sand traps were average. 42 bucks to walk is so so value. Good to see old friendly faces with the mens club.

Played this morning as a 5some, but was backed up the whole time in the front, but much better in the back and took a little over 5 hours. The fairways and rough were in pretty good shape as well as the tee boxes. The greens looked like they were ready to be punched and were very bumpy. The bunkers need more sand, but at least it was consistently lacking or so it seemed. Cart girls were nowhere to be found though.

Great golf weather and had a good time with buddies. So, can't really complain.

Fairways were pretty beat up the 1st 4 holes...going on average the rest of the 18. Rough was patch....and sand traps were average condition. Tee boxes were beat up. POP was 5 hours. $42 is walk is expensive and too crowded. Looks like I won't be coming back for a while.

Course gives a good overall appearance until you arrive at your first tee shot. Fairway on the 1st hole is just about as much dirt as it is grass. The tee boxes and the bunkers are very poor also. One of the bunkers I found myself in was hard packed dirt without any sand. Too bad, because the course has potential to be real nice. The only real plus were the greens. They were in nice shape and rolled true and were medium-fast. Also, I played on Labor Day at 1:00 and finished at 4:30 so the pace was great.

Played 6/30 at 11:00 and the experience was decidedly average. Tee boxes and fairways were in typical municipal shape. Par 3 tee boxes were a little beat up but are large enough to handle many divots. Fairways have a couple burned out patches but were pretty solid for the most part as was the rough which was tough around the greens (yay kikuyu!!) but fairly thin around the fairways. Bunkers were average at best with the typical muni brown sand/dirt combo in them.
I really only have two things I look for in Poa greens: speed and sponginess... this course failed both of them. They were aggravatingly slow and had the annoying combo of being spongy without holding your shot. If they do something with the greens (lawnmower maybe?) it's a solid track to play with quite a bit of length on the front 9, but I have several courses closer to me that have better greens and are cheaper to play.

Played on sunday afternoon so expected it to be a slow day..but didnt expect to be behind a 5some who decided to play from the blue tees (which they really shouldn't).. Still was able to finish in 5 hours but had to wait on every shot.
Course was in decent conditions. Greens a tad slower to my liking but rolled true. No bev cart seen for the entire round. Proshop staff (different person) was quite friendly compared to last time so that was a major improvement from past experience. Bunkers were well stocked. Few bare spots on the fairway but overall decent course to play.

Played on Sat 05/19/12 - went out right before 3:00pm and the starter gave us a break and gave us twight light rate. Thanks. Overall condition of the course are in decent shape except the greens. They are mostly bumpy. Guess they didn't roll down the greens. Fairways are pretty good. This course do have many fairway bunkers and trees to give you some challenges. They do have several long par 4s. Overall this is pretty fun course to play. This course need improvement on greens. Service was alright. With similar green fees, I would prefer Rio Hondo Golf course.
