I haven't played here in nearly 5-6 years, and now I remember why! The tee boxes are hacked up. There are a lot of "very new" players that go here. The course does not seem to be highly maintained, probably, because the city of Montebello runs it. The local residents play here a lot, and do not seem to care either. The fairways had some major bare spots, like they did care for the course during the pandemic. Most other golf courses that I have played are in really good shape, but not here! I seems they where saving water, since players where not allowed out for nearly 3 months, well they did not seem to maintain their course for 90 days. The rough seems mowed to a playable level, the bunkers are in terrible condition, water puddles unraked (no rake) foot print divots. You can tell a lot of "new players" go here. Hackers! The greens are slow! You really need to hammer your stroke, not fun. Again, it seems to accommodate HACKER players, because new players do not know how to putt with feel, just "hammer" hitting, which these greens need. I don't think I'll be back. Bye!

Tuesday morning tee time at Montebello. Covid requirements being followed, check in smooth. Course is very dry, tee boxes were beat up from lack of moving tee markers. Fairways and rough are dry and provide a lot of roll out. Greens are the best part of the course they are lush and smooth and running a little on the slow side. POP was a little over three hours.

The course is in terrible shape. I wont be back until i read other wise.

Early out at Montebello this morning playing the Blue Tee’s. Table set up at the main walking entrance confirming tee times. Everyone wearing masks prior to teeing off. CC only no cash. From what I was told the course re-opened last Saturday and was walking only. Today they allowed carts as single riders. Carts are standard as they don’t have GPS. Range and practice greens are also closed. They did have pre-packed food for purchase although I did not see what was available. As for the course, well overall pretty disappointing. Tee boxes were mostly dirt with a mix of dead grass. Fairways were the same a lot of dirt patches mixed with dead grass and patches of green grass. There was some rough which was inconsistent, they also had old clippings which made things worse if you were there. Greens were ok albeit really slow. I was not in any bunkers but was told everyone plays them as a free drop. Not sure of the accuracy of that, did not affect me as I wasn’t in any of them today. I can say that the few I looked at had zero sand and looked like concrete. Additionally they have flipped 9’s. The old 18 plays 430 yards up a slight incline so it was a good finishing hole. Now 18 is a P3 from about 100 yards. I did throw a SW in there to about 6 inches which was a decent way to end the round. If it wasn’t for the fact I was playing with some buddies I would be mad getting up that early for the course conditions. Nevertheless I hope they figure things out and make the necessary corrections. POP was 3.5 hours.

Course was in very good shape even tho there is some browning. Tee boxes in good shape, fairways had a few dry spots but rolled well. Greens were lush and ran quick with a few bumpy ones. Bunkers did not have any sand. POP was close to 5 hrs, one group in front was a hole behind until the marshal moved them along.

All in all a good day to golf.

Played today in a nice 3 H POP. Course is drying out. Tee boxes are all fine. Fairways have good coverage but the bermuda is beginning to brown in many areas. They could definitely use more water than what they are getting from the sprinkler system. Greens are drying out as well. They are not as good as several weeks ago and are not very fast when chipping, putting. Customer service is great, as always (thanks Mr Fierro). Still a great early (10:30) twilight special every day.

Got out early before the holiday crowds. Course is in nice shape at the moment. Good coverage on the tee boxes. Fairways are green (and dry) with some browning of the bermuda, but does not effect the lies or roll. Traps are still in need of more sand? Rough for the most part is cut down and playable. Greens are in great shape. Chip/putt with good speed. Customer service excellent.

Played today. Recent rains, warm weather and maintenance have this course in some of the best shape I have seen it, in a long time. Green fairways with good roll and lies (only occasional bare spots). Tee boxes just fine. Very little rough and manageable. Greens in great shape, chip/putt great with good speed. Always tremendous customer service from head pro Eddie. Recommended at present. Best rates after 10:30 weekday/weekend than any course in the area.

Played this AM. Course is beginning to go into winter mode. Fairways are getting thinner and browning out. Still some green and those were the areas that had decent lies. Tee boxes were all fine. Traps we know are not worth talking about, until they put more sand in? Very little rough at all. Greens were in OK shape, but putted slow and showed recent small aeration. It is fall/winter golf time in S CA for most courses and we cannot expect a lot? Customer service is always excellent at this course.
