Played today. Course is in winter condition w/o doubt. Fairways are thin, dormant and hard (at least you get a lot of roll). Some of them had been aerated and thatched recently. Tee boxes were moved up to allow many to regrow, but caused no issues. No rough as it has all been mowed. I never speak about the traps here (just look at past reviews). Greens had been mowed and putted very well. Must have been aerated recently but caused no problems. Winter in S CA seems to bring out the best greens for many courses. Customer service was very good. They now start on # 10 and if you want to play 9 they start you on # 1. LA Co virus rules in affect. I walked and noticed carts all have single riders. Did not see any food/beverage available early AM.

Played MCC yesterday at 11:30. To my surprise when I got to the 1st green, they punched recently and lots of sand on the greens. If they posted at the Pro Shop then I missed it. Course is in below average condition. The greens used to be the best part of the course but it will be a few weeks before they heel. Good pace of 4H. Fairways (not all) were thin/bare in many areas . Traps (see many previous reviews about them). Customer service was very good at all levels. Best part about this course is the resident rate of $20 to walk for residents.

When the weather gets cooler I like to join some of my golfing friends who are unable to play during the week, or don't like to play early AM. Yesterday was here. Very surprised that we got the round in in 4 H. Found the course to be in average shape. Tee boxes were good. Fairways (not all) were thin/bare in many areas and devoid of a lot of grass. So not good roll out or lies on all fairways. Traps are a discussion on this course I gave up commenting about a long time ago (see many previous reviews about them). Found the greens to be in decent shape but just too many unfixed ball marks. They now start you on # 10 as it easier for the starter to monitor the golfers. Customer service was very good at all levels. I personally would not play here again until spring, as I don't like playing such thin/bare fairways.

Crazy enough to go out to Montebello yesterday in record heat around 10:50 am.

Outdoor tables set up with food and beer specials. Happy they are able to sell items to help with their revenue and golfers were responding by purchasing beers and food.

Mask in common areas and single carts available.

Greens were surprising the best part of this course yesterday. Because of heat, I dare say they were running around 8.5/9. I been playing Montebello for many years, and this is the fastest I have ever seen the greens. It was a pleasant surprise. The rest of the course is pretty beat up. Sand traps should be appropriately called traps...because there was no sand in them. What does not help is the maintenance crew using their blowers to blow sand out of the traps. Tee boxes were unlevel and not mowed. The fairways were a mixed patch of grass, weeds, and dirt. Layout and location to my house keeps me coming back.

I had originally intended to play Dad Miller, but thanks to Greenskeeper - learned that only 14 holes were open, so switched to Montebello. While not my favorite course, it does provide solid basic golf, and it enjoyable playing here again. Greens were the best part of the course, fairways are over-watered, and the bunkers are trash. Tee boxes and rough are about what you'd expect. Some good, some not so good.

Easy check in and decent pace of play, considering we were not the first group out One of the best things about playing early in the day is the golfers typically play quickly. Great weather on a beautiful autumn morning.

Early Wednesday morning tee time. All Covid protocols being followed, check in and first tee organized and efficient. Tee boxes are level and have good coverage, fairways were heavily watered and were marked as GUR too bad players in carts were driving though the areas. They are in the process of turf reduction in the rough areas and some areas do not make sense. Bunkers still the same condition that has been mentioned before. Greens had very good coverage and had some speed to them they rolled well. POP was 3.5 hours.
Driving range, putting green and clubhouse are closed. They did have a snack bar set up with outdoor seating.

Very wet, even though it was Mid-day. Watering alot during the heat wave, but cloudy today, so the course was slow to dry out.

Very wet, even though it was Mid-day. Watering alot during the heat wave, but cloudy today, so the course was slow to dry out.
Rough was long and wet, a very tough combination. Sometime tough to find your ball, even a couple yards off the fairway.
Bunkers are usual Montebello, hard-pack. Easier to just chip out.
Greens were soft and slow. Any shot to the green left a hole, not just a mark. Even when they were fixed, they rarely were fixed correctly and left a very bumpy green. Very slow also.
Played in 4 hours.

6:00am tee time (second group off) Teeing off in rather heavy fog starting on #10. Our walking threesome waited every shot behind 4 guys riding, until we asked if we could please play though on #14, which thankfully they allowed us to do so. By the time we reached #18 green we were already two holes ahead and probably 4-5 holes in front by the time we finished our round. (Why do players who play so slowly insist on being first off in the morning?

Had not played Montebello for a while, so was happy to return. The greens were the best part of the course by far. Fairways were also very good, although rather "thick" so not much roll. The rough at times was brutal, U S Open length in places and easy to lose your ball. Bunkers were poor at best. Little to no sand, which creates a whole new challenge around the greens.

Overall it was a fun round. Staff was fantastic. Friendly and very accommodating. Well priced walking senior rate. But for the heavy fog for the first 7 holes, it was a great day.

I walked on here yesterday at 4:30 and got right out. I haven't played here in a long time but wanted to work on a few things in my game so gave it a try. I would give this course a C for effort. They try to keep the tees level but many different grasses are used. The try to keep the rough cut but fail in many spots. They try to keep the greens nice but the players here don't think fixing their ball marks is their job....at least 10 unrepaired marks per green. They try to keep the pace with 10 minute interval tee times but we never saw a marshall. Lastly, a big F on the rock hard bunkers. If you were lucky enough to to find sand in any of them bravo!! To bad though, they have a nice mix of holes here that would make this place more fun to visit if conditions were bettr.
