4/9 teeoff $30 special from the whites a little cool and over cast to start but pleasant overall. POP just over 4 hours following a group of seniors who did a good job of keeping the pace going. Tee boxes were generally ok. Bunkers were inconsistent some with good enough sand others were thin and one that I found was wet and more mud than sand. Fairways were spotty with grass coming out of dormant stage and some small bare spots scattered about generally with good cushion --I always had good to ok lies--fortunate to miss the unfilled divots(plentiful sand provided just clueless duffers)--also areas of ground squirrel activity were noticeable--missed going down one of the holes by an inch. Rough was generally sparse or kind of clumpy until closer to the greens. Greens had a camo look but rolled fairly well at medium speed--hard to judge had a few putts that really broke off right at the hole without enough pace--me being mostly the cause and not really the green. Good customer service starter(Bill I believe) got us out 30 min early--in our conversation learned he belongs to a gun club and is quite the competitive shooter "holds his own" as he modestly put it--so I am glad we were cordial and pleasant---just saying!!

Played early Friday (4/22) morning to start a casual 4 hour workday. I highly suggest trying it out if you can swing it (no pun intended). Anaheim Hills has converted some of the landscape to make it more irrigation friendly and I think they did a wonderful job. Seeing all the California Poppies in bloom throughout the course is a really neat thing to see. For the most part, they pulled grass from areas that weren't really in play with the notable exception being hole 12 where the whole hillside was converted back to wild grasses and flowers. This creates a much higher risk as you stand a good chance to lose your ball in that stuff if you can't carry the hill. The other noteworthy change is the shortening of hole 5. It used to be a 254 downhill par 3 that probably played 215-230 from the tips. This is now 207 from the tips and plays about 190-175 depending on pin position. I really liked this change as that par 3 wasn't really fun as you also had to face another long par 3 that could even be tougher at the 13th hole. Now, there is a nice balance of long, medium, and short par 3's. Course conditions were ok. Tee boxes were a little unlevel but didn't have too much divot damage with exception to 17. Fairways were firmer and tighter, mostly kikuyu, some other grasses were mixed in as well. Rough was present, but not too harassing, again a mix of grasses. There were hardly any bare spots in fairways or rough. Bunkers are a mix of topsoil and sand, they definitely play on the heavy side of the spectrum, but are perfectly functional. Greens were healthy, rolled medium quick and had the occasional bump here and there, but not enough ruin a putt. Pace of play was great as I started early enough, typically this course does play slow. It's a fun layout that rewards accurate driving, but gives you a break here and there. I'll be back.

I don't mind that change. Lol We played the blues. Tee boxes were nice and level, fairways green, rough hit and miss, not penal but had grass clumps that your ball was behind or in front of which made it more difficult. Was in 1 fairway bunker and sand was good was in a green side bunker on 13 and sand was terrible. Greens rolled nice. It looks like the course is spending money. Even though there are allot of doglegs I like the course.

Great attitude from him, the food tasted good and was reasonably priced, but get Chris some help! The tee boxes were in good shape, the fairways hard as could be, the greens were hard and fast. Way too many blind shots for my liking. POP was 5 hours.

Play here yesterday. It has been a long time since we have played here so thought we would give it a try. Typical winter conditions with good greens and everything else just average but the greens were semi fast and rolled true so they were above average. The lay out is interesting enough to try it again after the rains green things up a bit.

Having not played out here in many years we decided to give it a try. We obviously did a bad job of picking the right day, given the recent rain? Cart path only? Glad we got out early so it did not really effect POP. But we certainly could have driven on the fairways after the first 9. Course is in typical winter conditions - green/brown/green/mud, etc. So I don't intend to be to critical. Customer service was great at all levels (even had the beverage cart out today). Tee boxes (though brown) were suitable and playable. Fairways were dormant and provided very little roll but did offer up some decent lies most of the time. Bunkers (I was fortunate to miss them) were wet and damp but playable. Greens were in great shape. They had been cut and rolled and putted/chipped very well. We enjoyed the layout and look forward to going back in the spring.

Played Friday Dec 11 at 7:30 POP was good, no one in front of us and we never waited on a shot. Played the blues, allot of maintenance is going on and looks like they are working hard to improve the course. I found the tee boxes good, fairway were thin, but it is winter, there appeared to be good sand in the traps, but with the wet conditions they were hard, and the greens were is real good shape, rolled very nicely. Only number 18 could you see was not quite fully recovered. Never saw the cart girl, but it was cold and wet and didn't need anything, saw the marshal a few times, but had no issue as no one was in front of us and we finished 2 holes in front of the group behind us.

Positive: the best thing about this course is the awesome iPhone app that serves as a detailed yardage book and then turn it sideways and it automatically starts a detailed flyover of the hole.
This is a beautiful course with babbling brooks and lots of old growth scrub oaks. Very verdant.
As an actual golf course it's in pretty good shape. Fairways are lush and greens rolling true. Lots of hitting off of the tops of mountains which can be fun. No need to ever hit driver on any hole if you can pop it out there beyond 230 with a three wood or hybrid.
And right there is the problem. This is really a golf course designed for the novice golfer who gets out a few times a year. It's absolutely un-walkable. There are so many gimmicky bs holes that it's just a joke after a while. There's a 250 yard par three into the wind off a mountain. There's a par five to a bottleneck fairway that demand a layup off the tee. On a par five. Then there's the fact we were almost killed by goofballs from the range and other players five times. Balls flew in from other holes within feet of us on the green.
If you're a regular golfer who can shoot below 100 don't go here. There are just too many other choices for a complete 18 hole course that allows for gripping and ripping and would be way more fun and true to the game.

Played "The Loop" (holes 1 thru 5, available ~2.5 hours before sunset, for $13, including cart) on Friday 3/6/15. Joined new GK'er GolfNRolf, teeing off right at 5:00pm.
Tee boxes were in fair shape, with some unlevel positions and some divot damage. Fairways were fair to good, with generally tight lies, and again some divot damage noted. Rough wasn't too bad, leaving balls "up" with fluffy lies. GolfNRolf and I were both in green side bunker on hole 3, where sand varied from hard packed to fluffy, and fabric underlay was exposed in places (from hard pan lie, GolfNRolf was able to get up and down with a nice shot). Greens were soft and lush, very receptive to well hit shots. Though the greens appeared a bit bumpy and shaggy, putts rolled true at medium to fast speeds. As usual, there were scads of unrepaired ball marks on each green. I repaired at least 5 on each of the 5 holes played.
The new practice green is finally open, though I didn't have the opportunity to use it on this visit.
