Played Fri Mar 6th. It was windyer than I thought it would be. So for the old guys lol they don't seem to care when or how long they close the bathroom at about 7:15 in the morning. A excuse me let us get one more in before we tee off, duh. Course was in ok shape. Many of these holes are just not eye appealing to me and then factor in the wind, long day.The we went to eat, what a ddisaster. They had one guy and we waited for ever. For all I know he might have been the cook also, jk, this is not my favorite place to play.

If not seeing the pin from the tee doesn't bother you you might love this course. We played it on a sunday at 9 am and it really wasn't to crowded. We found the checking in, the cafe and the driving range pleasant and easy to deal with the starter was friendly and we started within 5 minutes of our tee time. The fairways were better than average for a city course and the greens were in good shape on the fast side and very firm .The bunkers were good and the tee boxes were a bit beat up but level. The course is very hilly and in many if the holes the tee shot is blind but the fairways in these hole are wide and seeing the pin from your second wasn't a problem so it was very fair. Our carts and GPS units worked well and I really cant say anything negative about the place. The price seemed fair and we had good time ,we enjoyed a sandwich and beer at the bar after our round and I would come here again . I dont think this is a great course for beginners as the blind shots and hills could make it tough and a very long day.

I joined a friend on Friday afternoon, 10/3/14, to play a new promotion at this course close to home. The promotion is called "The Loop" which entails playing the first five holes for a very reduced green fee of $13 (including cart with gps), available starting 2 1/2 hours before sunset. Thanks to a recent review here on GK, I knew that the greens had recently been aerated, so didn't expect much on the greens. Tee boxes were lush with lots of unrepaired divots, but it was easy enough to find a clean spot from which to play. Fairways were in good shape, with all shots hit from good lies. However, just like on the tee boxes, there were many divots left unrepaired. A few shots were played from the rough, which ranged from lush, thick grass to bare dirt (that is why you try to keep it in the short stuff). I had to play out of one fairway bunker (an interesting shot, where my tee shot came to rest against the edge closest to the green, leaving my only viable option to play a lateral pitch out to the middle of the fairway, actually hitting away from the green) - the sand was soft and fluffy. My friend played out of a greenside bunker on the same hole, and then on another hole, and both plays showed soft sand. With a nod from the starter, we kept on playing past the fifth hole, and were easily able to finish 9 holes in under 2 hours, just as the sun set.
In my judgment, the greens still need a few weeks to heal from the recent aerification, but the rest of the course is in pretty good condition. A recent improvement worth noting. There has been a new practice green added between the relocated 10th tee and the driving range. According to an email received from the course, this practice green (not yet ready as of 10/3/14), will allow chipping and putting, unlike the existing practice green, which is only open for putting.
So golfers have a cool promotion to check out. In a few weeks, the greens should be fully recovered, and the new practice facility should be available for short game work.

Greens were punched last week so no review for greens, but the rest of the course is in pretty amazing shape. The rough is about as thick and lush as I have ever seen it. POP is great since many aren't playing due to the greens. If you want to work on the rest of your game (besides putting) you can get around pretty quickly. Many of the fairways are very lush. Some traps are very wet due to the greens being watered after being punched. They also have a new deal called "The Loop" where for $13 you can play the first 5 holes during late twilight. Kinda cool.

Finally made it back to Anaheim Hills today, playing with a buddy who has chips (some Tustin Ranch/Anaheim Hills/Dad Miller deal) that got us on the course for $35. 7:38 tee time and we got on a little closer to 8, hitting from the blue tees. Paired up with a guy and his father-in-law who were good company. Much like last reviews, the course is in fine condition, with the minor exception of some chewed up, unlevel tee boxes. Nothing horrible, though. Fairways had minimal dry patches, greens were in very good shape but not fast at all - just need to adjust to that early. Was only in one sand trap all day and it was fine. Plenty of OB here and some difficult rough, but there are also quite a few generous bailout areas to save you. This course isn't for everyone. There are many blind tee shots, big elevation jumps, severe doglegs and narrow fairways off the tees, but it's also got quite a few beautiful holes and interesting layout options. Make sure to study up a bit on the place before you go the first time, but the carts all have a decent GPS system, although you can't use the touchscreen to determine layup distances - just have to feel your way out on those. It was a very hot day despite the early start and while we saw the cart girl 2x she never actually came by to ask if we needed anything. Not sure what the deal was there. But all in all I really do like this course much better than when I played it as a two-month-in newbie back in beginning of 2013. But again, I can see why this track isn't for everyone.

Only complaint/suggestion: "The Hills" really needs to get with the times and install some drinking water dispensers throughout the course. Right now, they have a marshal driving around with a cooler on a cart, but we only saw him maybe twice. On a hot day on such a hilly course, it's easy to get parched. One of the really friendly marshals did say there's a way to call him through the GPS, but unless you know that, it's not obvious.

Played here today with Itslikeimsayin. We booked an 11:12 time through TeeOff.com (formerly EZlinks) with a promo code, so it only ended up being about $31. Great deal. It wasn't too busy at that time so we played as a twosome behind another couple. We never had to wait on them much and we were pleasantly surprised to finish under 3.5 hours on a Sunday! The course is in very good overall shape. Mostly lush and green. Tee boxes are probably worst part of the course right now. Some of them were quite chewed up. Otherwise, fairways and rough were very good. Some minor thin spots here and some shaggy spots there with the kikuyu in summer, but mostly great. The greens were very soft and receptive, so you could be aggressive on approaches and chips. Rolling at medium speeds. I'd probably prefer them a little quicker, but that's a minor quibble. I was in one bunker and it was excellent. Not too soft, not too firm, but just right like the baby bear's porridge. Anaheim Hills is always a course I've enjoyed, though it's been quite a few years since I played it. There are some funky holes here some folks won't like and it does help to have to have some prior course knowledge. They do have a good GPS system on the carts and that is a huge help. The "Hills" name is well earned as there are very few flat lies on the course. Always a fun time here, even if the score isn't so good!

Just goes to show you all you need is a ticket and you too can get lucky at a GK event. This course is in good shape compared to other courses I have played as of late. Greens ran fairly true. Folks just fix your divots. Fairways are lush. Rough is thick and sticky -- not really kikuya but easy to get your club on so not really an obstacle. Bunkers are well stocked. Tee boxes are for the most part flat and well rotated. Pace of Play was not too bad. We caught up with the group ahead by hole 6 but still managed to finish in around 4 hours and that is playing as a 3-some for the first 9 holes then as a 4 some the rest of the 9 holes. Big hello to Dr. Dave from UCI. Thanks for bailing my buddy's son out of that sticky situation a few days back. (Small world). Questions about the actual course conditions check out my instagram feed @ringworld and like the photos :D #anaheimhillsgolf My only advice is course knowledge here is key. You really have to know where to land your shots because of the sweeping elevation changes here. You can bomb the ball but if you're in the junk and/or out of bounds in some lateral hazard you will kick yourself for not considering a shorter club. There are some dead areas where the onboard display will not show distances which was a pain but with a handy hand-held laser you can still figure it out. Maybe a distance marker on some of the holes where there are severe turns would be a nice addition? Overall course conditions are good. Service is OK considering they only have one guy working the desk and no one else seems to know how a register works. And btw guys an update should be done after hours or close to closing not during twilight.

Played in a golf tournament yesterday at Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Wow, great shape. Greens were rolling true, held shots and moderate speed (would say 9 to 10 speed). Fairways lush with perfect lies. Rough, that kikuyu will get you. It’s a good 2 to 4 inches and thick. It was very challenging around the green complexes. Puts a premium on hitting the greens. Bunkers were in good shape with quality sand. We played the white tees, which were lush and groomed but at times not very level.

This is my third time playing Anaheim Hills and I like this layout more each time. Really dig the elevations changes, dog legs, undulating greens, risk reward holes and hole number 12, that I like to call Mount Kikuyu (btw be careful not to hit your tee shot right on the hole, there is small lake that will gobble your ball). Wish the course was not so far of a drive from me otherwise would have it in my rotation.
