Save you time and money. Course is over priced and the conditions are the worse I've seen hear in the 4 county area of southern CA. They closed it to build Condos on the property for several years then reopened it. They should close it again and start over again. Played there on June 30, 2021 and couldn't believe the mess they had there. Conditions are poor and they are still trying to figure out what hole to start playing on. Pace of play is really slow. This is an Executive course and it took 4 hours to play. This is not a course for player, could be ok for beginners.

It had been a couple years since I'd played Birch and I remember why. The course is so strangely short and awkward. The greens are bumpy and shaggy, the tee boxes are uneven and full of divots, the fairways are dried out and spotty, the bunkers are full of rocks and dirt, and the staff are terribly unhelpful.

If you haven't played here before, maybe try it. Other courses are similarly priced and have much more to offer.

Don't play Birch Hills all that often, so it was a nice change. Perry's recent review was spot on, but I disagree about the greens. While I acknowledge that "less skilled" players might play here, the green complexes allow the more experienced golfers to enjoy the challenge of what would otherwise just be a pitch & putt course.

Greens were firm and the surrounds certainly need attention, but still playable. Greens rolled well. Since I was lucky enough to miss them in the right spot, I probably did not appreciate what could have been tough "up & downs". Had to be a bit selective where to tee up as there were a few tees which need attention.

Staff was great as usual. Fun little track to play. Nice to get around quickly and cheaply.

Puzzling. Why remake a par 59 course with short holes but heavily bunkered and relatively difficult greens? Pretty frustrating for any beginner trying to learn golf with the hard greens, hard grass, difficult bunkers.

That said, I like Birch Hills - nice place to play. 20 bucks to walk on a beautiful Friday late morning was just what I was looking for. Fairways and greens were the best thing about the course. The greens were a bit too hard but smooth and medium speed. Around the greens was the worst part of the course - hardpan and thin and/or clumpy grass made chipping difficult - even more so with the hard and sloping greens. Any miss of the green would travel quickly away. I would imagine it would be easier to take care of the bunkers if there weren't so many of them. Some were decent and some a bit hard but none were good.

I'd probably take a beginner someplace with flatter greens, less bunkers and more grass but if you like a good short course, this might fit the bill.

7:38 tee time on Memorial Day. Check in was smooth. They have gone pretty extreme on the Covid precautions, it it is what it is. No scorecards... no flags (irrigation flags), no rakes, etc. PoP was 3hours 40minutes. Love the spaced tee times to help with the PoP. Course is in descent shape. Some ball marks in the greens and bumby. Lots of people don’t fix their divots.

Played this morning for $22 walking only. Had a 6:50 time but let us get out at 6:15. No greeter at the gate. There was an employee as you walk into the Pro Shop directing people. The range was open, every other mat. The practice green was closed. All employees were wearing masks. After paying I asked the employee outside the Pro Shop why some people were not wearing their masks and he said its not mandatory on the course. Its up to the individual discretion. As I mentioned walking only, no rakes, trash cans, or scorecards. There were no standard pins, they use what looks to be like maintenance flags, approximately 1 foot high. For those not aware this is a pitch n putt course, Par 59. Good place to work on your short irons and short game. Tee boxes were a mixed bag. Some of them were very thin and some had decent coverage. It appears they have done recent work around alot of the greens, new sod. Fairways were few as there are only 5 Par 4’s. 6th hole and 9th hole run parallel and had pretty good fairways the ball sat up well. These 2 holes share the common rough which looked to be a few inches. On the back 9 holes 13/17/18’s fairways were very thin with a lot of run. I was in a few of the greenside bunkers, and while the sand was wet there was good sand overall. I was able to get up/down with no problem. Now the greens, overall I was a little disappointed. First off they looked like they had not been cut or rolled in a few days. Nevertheless they rolled medium speed. My biggest complaint is all the lazy golfers who dont fix their ball marks, come on man. It takes a few seconds, every hole we fixed 3 to 5 ball marks. Overall I maybe back, it was a swift round 2 hours and 10 minutes and for $22 not that bad. Good thing we finished early, the sun was getting hot and it started to cook.

First out as a twosome, which today was not a good thing, because we had to wait for the sprinklers on the first 7 holes, and then the greens were so flooded, with puddles, it made judging speed impossible. The greens were really nice, you just can't putt very well thru puddles ! The back nine was much better, at least no visible water.

Many of the greenside bunkers were also flooded, but those areas not affected were excellent. Plenty of well raked sand. Fairways green and well groomed.

Silly, but I actually enjoy this little course. There are a handful of boring short under 100yd holes, but otherwise there are some fun little holes which provide interesting approach shots. I would not want to make a steady diet of Birch Hills, but it was nice change of pace.

I seldom play this course, but a friend who not really an avid golfer wanted to play, so I thought this short course would be more suitable. As awlays out early to avoid the crowds, so pace of play not an issue. (Made certain I kept my playing partner moving so as to not hinder play)

Greens as stated in the previous review were the highlight of the course. Fairways were decent. I did not have too much problems with the tees because I just went to the back of each pod, where there wasn't to much wear.

Enjoyed playing the course. Not hard, but interesting and fun. You have to just accept it for what it is.
