played midmorning, first round in a few weeks. course is soggier than last time i played, probably due to overwatering from the recent heat. fairways which are usually fairly tight were pretty shaggy in spots, with some muddy areas. sand was heavier and wetter than usual. greens were generally soft, approaches would make large ball marks, but did have some inconsistent spots where landing areas were harder than others making it a bit difficult to predict. putts break off quickly if they didn't have speed. teeboxes were all in good condition from the blues. got around in 4 hours as a threesome. like playing here when can i get a good rate.

I've always enjoyed playing Tustin Ranch because it's a fun track, generally in very good condition, and for me geographically close. But the price is just too high, so when I received an invite to play as a guest, I jumped at the opportunity.

As expected the course was in very nice shape, particularly the bunkers and fairways. Greens rolled well, receptive, but a tad too slow for my taste. A couple of tee boxes needed attention, but not a big deal.

Staff is always wonderful here, very friendly and accommodating. As previously stated, a wonderful golf course to play if you're willing (And able) to part with the $$$.

Played here today at 7:30 and finished at 11:45 with a short wait on half the holes due to a very slow twosome. It has been years since I've played here probably due to the high rack rates they charge. The senior rate starts at 60 so I can now play for $75 so I think I will be returning a little more often because the course is fun to play. The landing areas are very generous with many well place bunkers. We all found the conditions to be quite good throughout the course. The greens held shots and rolled true however we all thought they were a tad bit too slow.all the tee boxes were level other than the 13th which is still a temporary box due to maintenance. They did have a few divots but you could always fine a nice place to hit from. The fairways and bunkers were the highlight for the most part. There were a few areas GUR but the lies were usually nice and the sand in the bunkers proved to be some of the best I have played in a while. Had a great lunch in the players lounge afterwards too. Only negatives to our day was no cart girl was seen, the range is closed on Mondays, and the pace could have been I little better. We will definetly return soon!!!

I almost forgot how I much liked playing here. I don't have that much to add since the last review. The only thing is that 13th tee box is having some major work done and that they have you playing from the forward tees. Everything else was wonderful- customer service, cart girl and the bar just beyond the 18th green...

Played mid morning with a friend and a twosome mid week. Course was pretty empty, about an hour between prior tee time and ours. Course is in green, but not lush condition. Fairways are fast and tight. Rough is minimal. Greens were soft and receptive, rolled medium, pretty good rolls not very bumpy. Bunkers had fluffy bright white sand in them, very good quality. Breezed thru 9 in 1.5 and then got stuck behind a couple of groups, finished in 3.5. Course is not overly interesting, mostly generous fairways and accessible greens. A few holes on the back where water comes into play. Still pricey for the course, but I guess the location demands it.

Played today, 2/7 via teeoff.com, $62.00 after discount. Went out at tee time of 12:24pm, but there was a bit of chaos with the starter ahead of it, with my name (pre-paid) not appearing on his booking sheet, and others being sent out different from their tee times. Ended up being paired with two very nice ladies from the next group, who hit the ball well. Very enjoyable round. We pushed the groups in front, and were luckily able to jump a slow group in front at the turn, and finish in 4:45hrs.

Course overall was in good winter condition, albeit a just a bit damp - CPO on entire course, but not muddy. Could've driven carts on fairways with no damage, imho.

Tees, fairways and rough were all decent. Not a lot of roll in the fairways. Bunkers were generally nice, about 1/2" fluff on top of firm sand.

Greens were lush and very receptive, and enjoyed(?) a lot of spin on full approach shots, much more than usual. They also putted smooth and very, very fast.

A lot of folks on the course with no urgency of play, and sadly, no marshal to keep people moving. Have thought about doing the $41 monthly membership for a few months (with reduced greens fees), but have now decided against that idea.

Second time out here in two months, course seems in a bit better condition than last time. Played late morning, a lot of members out here as mentioned in the previous review. Not sure I would be quite so scathing regarding the layout though. It's not super memorable, but it's not shorecliffs or something. Tees were cut and all in good condition from the blues. Fairways were fine and tight, but if in the rough your lie would be inconsistent and patchy no thick rough here. Bunkers seem to have some newer white sand in them, but I wasn't in any so not sure how they played. Greens though rolling true were kind of slow/medium. Soft so your approaches would make large ballmarks but surprisingly many were fixed. POP was 4 hours as a foursome. Find a deal or join their membership, don't pay rack.

There are ways other than fences to keep the private country club feel to your course. Tustin Ranch uses the 1-2 punch of incredibly high rates and incredibly average golf to keep outsiders away. I was able to find the rare TeeOff single player time on a Sunday that saved well over $100 off of rack rate and still felt like I overpaid.

Check-in was a look at the computer and a "You're good to go!". So I had to ask the questions of an outsider: "Go Where?" and "Go When?". Once directed to the carts and starter - I was informed that even though I was the fourth to a threesome. They were part of a larger group that all knew each other and had made themselves into foursomes of which I would not be a part. I could go by myself or wait until I was adopted. Since it was already past my tee time - I drove solo for six holes until a threesome of locals caught me and the four sloths playing ahead of me.

The course is an obvious "Squeeze as much as you can out of the basic plot of land you were given." The course is laid out like a airport concourse maximizing the houses parked at their respective terminals. So you have all the types of holes you might expect. Straight Par 5's and a par 3 with water next to the green. Straight holes where bunkers pinch way in to force a lay-up or a perfect shot to one side. Straight holes where you have to lay up before a unlikely creek. Normal straight holes. And a short "drivable" severe dogleg par 4 like the 3rd at Monarch beach - except there is no view here to speak of.

Someone has a sore pointer finger because there is a lot of white GUR circles out there. Fairways are pretty good elsewhere but can feel like light rough in areas - rough is never deep but could be anything else. I found the bunkers to look nice but be an inch of fluff over a dense pack of sand which led to too much bounce or too much dig whichever way I tried to play the shot. Greens were good medium speed and mostly smooth.

I'm not sure if there was another soul from the "outside" playing that day. Everyone I saw seemed to know each other. I felt like I'd bought a member for a day outing instead of a tee time.

Looking for a geographically friendly course, I knew I would be able to get out at Tustin, as the staff is always accommodating and early morning tee times are not usually too difficult to secure.

Beautiful weather, mild considering it's November. Hard not to enjoy an easy pac round without a lot of players around. Round is overall in good, not great shape. Greens rolled nicely, but a little slow for my taste, Bunkers are excellent, which was good because I was in a bunch of them. Not really much to add to the prior review. I play here occasionally because it's not too far from home and easy to get out, but agree, tends to be on the pricey side.
