Played eagle falls 2x last week, the first on 11/21 and then again on 11/24. The course is coming out of overseed and had no cart restrictions. Fairways & tees are pristine. Greens are smooth with no pitch marks, a bit slow but this is expected out of overseeding. They did not overseed a lot of the grass in between tees and greens and outer rough areas so you will be getting the classic desert winter contrast between fairways and dormant rough. The holes are nicely cut and sprayed white on inside. I agree with the review below, the course plays harder than the card. Always a pleasure to tee it up at eagle falls. Will come back in December!!

Played 11/26 10 AM. What can you say, perfect fairways, great greens...OK, bunkers a little lite on sand, but well maintained. Just under 4 hour round.....Fantastic Driving range and putting green included in green fee....Lots of different holes, some with mile wide fairways, some a bit tight...Maybe one of the best public courses in California for the price.($100 Holiday) Plays somewhat harder then ratings for sure as lost balls out of play are highly possible on many holes. Will play many more times in 2021....if not for the pandemic playing golf and spending the night in the Hotel/Casino would be a no brainier.

09/27/20 play day. It was a gorgeous break of dawn with some small patch of clouds and the view was delightful as we got to the first tee. Nevertheless, the staff at check in and cart guys were excellent. They were expecting a hundred plus players for the day. Each cart had our names like a what you'll see in a tournament, except it's just another day of fun field golf day. It's nice to have played here again where the course design and playing conditions are in very good shape. I also like that we are able to take the flag stick out if we want to (no sponges in the holes either.) Our round took just a few minutes under four hours. The greens are still in good shape, smooth and rolling true. Yes, it's visible, the thick coarse Bermuda grass are taking over, but it surprisingly very good to putt on. The rough were still thick but not as thick just a month ago- thank goodness. The bunkers were with good sand quality. Rakes were available all around which was nice, but not everyone raked their footmarks and where they've played (ugh) COVID +1 and Rakes 0. The teeing grounds were in good shape but more than a few placements were near or on a slight slope. All in all the course was playing fabulous! Oh, but the difference in just a month are in the aesthetic looks. There were some small browning spots all around- not dead- it was still good to play on. We had a half a minute chat with the on course greenskeeper who was still meticulously caring for the course- I asked, "Why care so much for the course like I see you doing now when you're about to tear it up for reseeding in a couple of weeks?" His answer was incredible- "We do this for your pleasure and enjoyment!" So I told the guys in the pro shop about his good work, the two guys at the counter both pretty much said the same, "They normally stay away from people and don't say much, but yes, we do our best for our golfers, and thank you for letting us know.", they said. And as usual, they'd like for us to come back soon and said, "First week of November, you will be in aw in how this course will look like- bring lots of film!" What a golf course!

Had a great time with a fellow GKer despite playing horribly, the course is aesthetically beautiful but I did not enjoy the layout. Which is bizarre because apparently the same designer did Indian Wells which I love. My only complaint was visually off the tee, from back tees, it was a little absurd. Unless you had played there previously you wouldn’t know where to go. 18 for example, the tee showed a sliver of fairway. Another tee showed none at all. To me, this type of course is less enjoyable than a course like Classic Club where it is all in front of you. This is the opinion of one man but as far as the course itself, it is a steal at the price and conditions are very nice.

Rode the Eagle tees (6715/72.8/133) in 3H, 55M with Shaunstorm123 mid morning. Thanks to Shaun for setting up a fun round! The weather was hazy, muggy, fairly calm and around 110 when we finished. Really fun par 72 layout. Three par 3's, three par 5's and twelve par 4's. Excellent mixture of risk reward, medium and longer par 4's. Definitely keeps things interesting. On most holes, if you miss the fairway, you hope the rough catches it, because there are native areas that they play like a water hazard penalty where your ball is likely gone. There is also a generous amount of water hazards on this course. Almost no holes where penalty shots are not just waiting to jump up and bite you on anything crooked. Bermuda tees were lush and well maintained. No challenges with level lies. Both the Bermuda fairways and rough were lush with occasional brown patches. Very good considering they will be over seeding soon. Sand traps were okay, the only part of the course not well above average. First course I have played in over 6 months that had rakes in the traps. Bermuda greens putted medium speed and were firm with few ball marks. Many greens had some pin placements where you could expect some fairly severe breaks. The customer service was exceptional. Cart staff is great. Quick, efficient check-in with the pro shop. Drink cart around several times. Complementary range balls and bottled water are included with your golf fees. The carts were newer with advanced GPS including a video tour of each hole with tips on how to best play the hole. The course was in excellent late summer condition overall. Definitely recommended.

My second round of my annual Palm Springs Father's Day trip was to Eagle Falls. This is another course that I have never played in the PS area so I wanted to give it a try. It is always highly ranked on the greekskeeper.org Top25 so I figured it would not disappoint - and it did not.

I had read previous reviews that some golfers were a little scared when they arrived that Eagle Falls. The club house is a double wide trailer with an attached cart barn. It looks like something you would see at your local muni........but then.......

You are instructed to cross a large bridge and head out to the golf course. Once you get across that bridge, you see what the course really has to offer. There is a massive practice putting green and a very nice all grass diving range. You have views of the first and 10th holes which look immaculate. I was a little nervous when we first arrived but realized what everyone else was talking about when I got across that bridge.

A coworker of mine drove out from the Winchester area to play with me. We ended up being the first group at at 6:30am. We finished just before 8:30am so we were done in less that 2 hours! He was just as impressed with the layout and conditions of the course as I was.

Layout - The layout of the course is great. You do not feel like you are playing the same hole over and over even though this is a pretty flat course. Some of the holes are parallel but you do not get that feeling due to the native areas and the trees that border the holes. Both of us had nothing negative to say about the layout of the course. We really enjoyed it. Be aware of the snakes in the summer time though. We saw two groundskeepers picking up King snakes and moving them off the golf course! Careful where you step!

Fairways / Rough / Greens - I would put the condition of all three up against any course around. I had just come off a spectacular round at The Mountain course. I felt that the Mountain Course would really set the bar high and I felt that this course met or exceeded those expectations. The greens at Eagle Falls were 10 times better than the greens at The Mountain course. The fairways and rough were every bit as good as the higher priced Mountain course.

Bunkers - I was not actually in a bunker so I cannot comment on their condition.

In conclusion, I was spoiled on this trip. I got to play two great courses and both courses did not disappoint. I don't really want to say this out loud but I feel that Eagle Falls is a steal at $59 on a Saturday morning. I do not think you will find a better deal in the desert. Going back to my normal IE rotation of courses is going to be rough after the weekend that I had in Palm Springs. Give Eagle Falls a shot. It is also at the Fantasy Springs hotel so, if you do not have a good day at the course, you can try your luck at the casino.

Thank you Eagle Falls for a great Saturday morning. We will be back!

Good news. This course has been open for a week or so.

I played today 6/10/20 at about 9am. The only Covid related measures they seem to be taking at the moment are requiring a mask to go in the pro shop. After that, everything else around the course is normal.

Driving range is open and in great shape.

Practice putting green is open and has the normal cups with normal small flags. This is also true for the course. Regular flags and cups in play. It felt like I had to reach so low to get my ball without a pool noodle in there!

I played the green tees which are the tips. This course isn’t overly long, at 6,700 yards for a par 72, but the tips make a huge difference on maybe 3 or so holes, where one has to literally hike a trail back to the green tee box. Another note on layout is the fact this course has 12 par 4s, and then 3 par 5s and 3s.

On to what everyone cares about:
Conditions where great, and nearly immaculate. Tee to green, lush. Rough isn’t very penal at all but does help slow the ball from running into junk. I really enjoy this Clive Clark design.

Greens were in great shape and rolled medium and pure, with normal flags and cups as mentioned.

The sand traps were interesting. It appeared the course was trying to intentionally keep them damp, so the sand was quite heavy, though I didn’t have a problem playing from them. Rakes were out and along all traps, but I’m sure the hot June sun killed any virus outside, if there is still concern for it.

Overall it was a great day on a great course. It’s a steal at $39 midweek rack rate for summer that includes a first class warm up area and a cooler with ice and complimentary bottled water.

Only problem playing Eagle Falls is having to go back to the normal junked up public course for the next round...Course is in great shape, fairways are about as good as hitting off a mat. Greens are challenging in that there are actually undulations in many of them and the grass is so good it is a shame to walk on them with golf shoes. Yes real sand bunkers around the greens, good idea to hit a few practice bunker shots on the great practice area before your round. We paid $85 on a Monday morning and it is worth every penny....for us golfers from the inland empire we have nothing like this even our best Oak Valley or Oak Quarry are dismal seconds to this track.

Overview: bmcnicoll and I stayed one more day ... so as to play Eagle Falls after the 36 hole GK Guru day at the Celebrity Course and Firecliff. Brian suggested that we either play Escena Golf Club or Eagle Falls. Considering that I have not played either course I did not care, but it just worked out better for me to play at Eagle Falls.
Eagle Falls is a Clive Clark designed 18 hole course (Mr. Clark also designed the Celebrity Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort) that was built in 2007 and is located right next to the I-10 freeway and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. It is pretty well hidden behind the casino, but all the GK reviews said that I would really enjoy the course.

Clubhouse and Snack Bar: It did not concern me at all when I pulled into the parking lot and saw the clubhouse and snack bar. After reading all the GK reviews, I expected something very basic and it did not surprise me at all. I grew up riding my bike to our public course in Buffalo and the clubhouse there was very simple too. Pay your money, get something to drink and eat and be on you way.
All the player assistants were very friendly and the ladies in the snack bar were very nice.

Course: Brian drove the golf cart across the bridge and it was like we were transformed into another world ...the lush conditions of the par 5 18th hole and the water fall just to the left of the green. We go around the corner and then you see the driving range with a view of the beautiful mountains to the north. The driving range was in great shape and I was shaking my head because everything looked perfect. We had a 9:24 am tee time and I thought for sure that it would be busy. The starter then told us that there were only 52 names on the tee sheet today ... could not believe it.
We proceeded to the 1st tee and what a nice way to start off the day ... a par 4 with a little bit of a dogleg to the right with perfect conditions. The fairways and rough looked just as good as the Celebrity Course and Firecliff. It was a great course ... wall to wall overseed with super conditions. Rough was thick and the greens ran at a good medium speed and were very smooth. My favorite holes were all the par 5's and the short par 4 11th ... Brian knocked it on the green and two putted for a birdie, while I missed the 7 footer for birdie. I can't comment about the sand because I was not in a bunker all day, but it looked pretty good.

Final Thoughts: Pace of play was not an issue as we got around the course in 2 hours and 40 minutes. We did not play the 10th hole because it looked the foursome in front of us were not going to let us play through ... so we just passed them. Plus, #10 looked like just an ordinary par 4. I was totally impressed with the course and its conditions. It is definitely a hidden treasure in the Coachella Valley and the rates are great ... even in the high season. It is a definite must play when you visit the Palm Springs area. Brian ... thanks for suggesting that we play Eagle Falls and I enjoyed the 2 days that we played together.
