Played in the GK Review Guru time today with JohnnyGK, SBogey and larryq2001 (aka the birdie machine). 11:20 tee time and we went off on time. Steady pace of around 4.5 hours.

The course was in pretty good overall shape. The tee boxes have been overseeded and were playing well, though a few could use some leveling out. The fairways were tight and firm with lots of rollout. Some fluffy areas, some thin areas. Lies were inconsistent throughout the day, but still pretty good playability. Rough more of a mixed bag in terms of coverage with some clumpy spots around edges of fairways greens, but cut down and not too much of a factor. I was in two fairway bunkers. They were both very firm. Not in any greenside bunkers, though, so no comments there. The highlight of the course was by far the greens. They were firm, yet receptive, and rolling very fast on putts. I did notice an unusual number of tiny rocks on some greens and rabbit droppings on others, but the surfaces were overall really nice.

It's been a little while since I last played here. I have always liked the layout here and the setting. Things will probably brown out a little more as the winter goes on and the fairways get more and more dormant. However, it seems they are keeping the greens in great shape and the playability of the course is fine overall. It's clear from my previous visit to now that this is a course headed back in the right direction after some ups and downs in recent years.

The course is in GREAT shape. The greens are Lightning fast and true! Overall conditions were very good, though some tee boxes were uneven. Great customer service and smokin' cart girls. Avoid the steak salad in the 19th hole...not close to Oak Quarry's.

Played this morning and it was in pretty good shape, I thought that after the sanding of the greens last week they would be a little quicker but rather slow for Eagle Glen. Fairways slowly improving but bunkers, fluffy fairway bunkers but hard greenside bunkers. IMO it should be the other way around. I really enjoy the back 9 better than the front 9. I will be back though. Have a good weekend. Here is something I saw and even the starter or pro shop could not answer but senior rates are 35 on Mon and Wed, and 40 on Tues and Thursday. Any idea what the reasoning is on this.

Got a chance to play with Johnny MISTER GK'r himself with Nickequire, and Kevbig. Course was in great shape especially since the last time I played in early spring, at that time it almost looked like a course of neglect but wow the staff and grounds crew has really turned the course into a positive direction. We played combo tees this day and all the the tee boxes were nice, some a little wet but level and no real issues. Fairways were typical hot summer time thin and wet which is needed to protect the little blades from sun stroke, but the shots from the fairway were easy to hit. Rough and bunkers were in good shape some thin but not enough to warrant a complaint. Greens were in superb condition, fairly fast but not the normal Eagle Glen speedy. Had a blast playing with these guys and look forward to my next trip to Eagle Glen. It is on the way back to splendor in the grass.

My first time playing Eagle Glen, with GK’er Nickequire, Kevbig and Stone8, years I’ve wanting to play this course but somehow living in Ventura County, hardly ever being in Corona, whatever…should have not waited. Such a fun layout, scenic, fair and challenging. Great clubhouse, excellent breakfast burrito, friendly staff with excellent service. The golf course is certainly very much improved regarding conditions from just two months ago when reading reviews. They will be aerating the greens 9/6 & 9/7 so use this weekend to get a round in there before they punch. I believe it is highly likely conditions will be even better come October because it will give the course more time to continue improving their fairway conditions. Since the golf course started deep tine aerating the fairways, every fairway where they have done this to is much better, more green and lush than fairways where it has not been done yet. Eagle Glen is on the right track to improving their golf experience as time goes on. Teeing it up on a Wednesday in the morning we finished in just over 4 hours. I thought the greens rolled well, at moderate speed, appeared a little shaggy but putted faster and smoother than they appeared. I understand they were growing them out since cutting them down for their men's club championship a couple weeks ago. The fairways on holes where as mentioned they have doing maintenance improvements are very nice in most places, I’d say that was 60 to 70 percent of the holes. The fairways they have not yet done maintenance improvements are mostly thin with tight lies. The rough greenside and adjacent to the fairways is mostly lush but on especially the front nine with more hilly terrain making it difficult with firm hill slopes to hold water, the rough was very thin and even a bare at times. By contrast on the back nine this was hardly the case. So don’t get overly disappointed when staring your round, rough conditions improve. Bunkers I found to be good shape, well raked, sand a little firm but very playable. Tee boxes all lush but a bit shaggy. We played the combo tees (blue/black). I will be back to play this course in October or November. Enjoyable track!

Played the Combo tees (6510/71.6/134) with Kevin, Steve & John on a GK Guru deal. POP was a little over 4 1/2 H, we would go from being a 1/2 hole behind to caught up and waiting on the 4some in front. The weather was hot and partly cloudy with a little breeze. I really like this layout, many fun holes with no bad holes. Was an added treat watching Kevin throw a birdie barrage party. Course conditions were good overall, greener and lusher than expected for late summer in the IE. The tees had good coverage and were mostly good. Only a few needed divot repair. The fairways were mostly good to play from. Generally lush, occasionally thin. Same for the rough. Typical in that it was better/lusher close to the fairways and thinner or lesser maintained the farther you got from the fairways. Sand traps were a mixed bag. Greenside traps I was in were nicely maintained with good quality sand. Fairways traps were thinner and had too many rocks in them. The greens rolled nice and held approach shots well. Medium speed, mostly firm and fairly smooth. The customer service was excellent. Cart gal out making numerous rounds and we saw the very visible Player Assistant multiple times. Thanks to the G.M. for the complimentary drinks on a day with temps around 100, nice touch! This is a course I would play often if I lived closer, the layout suits my eye. Tough but fair, I can score here if I play well, but there are big numbers waiting to bite you if you cannot keep it out of the native stuff. Numerous par 3's with elevated tee shots and forced carries. Good mixture of shorter and longer holes with a few blind shots over the crest of hills. Would be a very challenging course to walk. Recommended = Yes.

Wanted to get back out to Eagle Glen before they punch the greens next week. The course is in better condition than the last time I played here, particularly the greens. While certainly not great, and slower than I prefer, for the most part they rolled decently. Most of the fairways had plenty of grass, with some thin/brown areas. My biggest complaint was with the bunkers, they manicured, but had very little sand.

Always enjoy playing this course, because of the setting, very tranquil, the scenery, and the staff is very accommodating. I rarely if ever have a problem getting out early and never have any issues with maintenance. Looking forward to returning again.

Played today in the GK Guru Play with Johnny, Steve, & Nick. Super fun group to play with and if today was a scramble, we would've annihilated the competition with the amount of quality shots that were struck today lol! Just about everything in weeman's review is spot on conditions wise with the only exception being that on the back 9 our group found that the greens were rolling faster than they looked. I won't go into too much detail on the course conditions since they are well covered in the previous review and still hold true. I will say that it's quite obvious that the management is putting the effort into revitalizing this course and I can only hope that they can bring it back somewhere near it's peak in its glory days! Customer service was friendly on all levels and the GM was nice enough to provide us with some ice cold drinks on the 9th hole which was really a nice gesture and greatly appreciated on a warm day. Not much wind today which is rare for this area. We got a nice view of the nearby brush fire as well which made for some interesting backdrops and at times, added an orange filter to the sky. As always thank you Johnny for setting us up and thank you Eagle Glen for your hospitality. I'll definitely be back and can only see the conditions getting better and better as we head into the fall!
