It's been a while since I played here, always enjoy this course as the customer service is great, fees very reasonable, and the general layout is most enjoyable. However, consistent with weeman68's review, the fairways are really dry, pretty much like straw. I would like to describe them as "tight" but I think thin would be a more accurate choice of words. They need some water on the course. The greens were actually fairly decent, and the tee boxes were good. Not in any bunkers, so unable to speak to their condition. Despite the dry conditions, enjoyed the round! Staff was as always, very accommodating, and using a GK certificate made the price right. Thanks Johnny!

Not their fault as the drought leaves all high-and-dry, but man, this is the driest and burnt out I've ever seen Eagle, and I've been playing it regularly for years.

Back nine was more stressed out than the front, with most fairways & rough about 90 percent straw-colored. You do get the ball to sit up from time-to-time, but it's a grab-bag. They have aerated some fairways recently with slit cuts, but they are just so hard and burnt.

Add to that the greens which are not yet all the way back from aeration (they still show sand-filled plugs on most holes, with a slight but discernable layer of sand) and they putt quite bumpy though they did speed up as the day went on. Tees are generally fine and they have put newer, fine sand in all the greenside traps. Fairway traps are a mixed bag.

I hope they get some more moisture here though it's hard to see how the fairways improve as we are almost into May and so it's goodbye so-called rainy season.

I play plastic tees and actually broke a couple. Fairways were thin but it is winter and i always hard a good lie. I agree with reviews below, fairway traps did not have as good sand as green side bunkers. Green were very hard. Hardly had to fix a ball mark. They started to speed up as we got to the finishing holes. Last time I was here they had coyote statues on some holes, I liked those, sadly they were gone this time. POP. Was ok at about 4:20 There was a very slow 4 some in front of us.

Played the Combo tees (6510/71.6/134) with Itslikeimsayin in slightly more than 4H on the GK Coupon. Excellent deal @ $34.50 per person w replay. The weather was close to 90, mostly sunny and a little breezy. We consistently waited on a slow 3some on the front, but things speeded up on the back. The tees were a mixed bag. Some were very lush, a few were more thin. Good overall, but a few needed divot repair. The mostly dormant Bermuda fairways are showing signs of being lush soon. Good cushion, nice to hit off of, I usually had good lies in the fairway. The mostly dormant Bermuda rough is thinner than the fairways but very playable. Not overly penal except around a few hazards, I was hitting even long irons out of the rough. The fairway traps were below average. Lower quality sand/dirt hard packed with lots of rocks mixed in. Numerous ones have lips that definitely come into play if you are going for the green. The green side bunkers were above average. Much higher quality sand and decently maintained with few rocks. The poa annua greens were much firmer in the afternoon than they were in the morning, more medium fast speed. The poa annua was showing afternoon bumpiness as it bloomed during the day in spite of a recent, light vericutting. This would be a very challenging course to walk, combination of the hills and the sheer distance from several greens to the next tee. We actually saw some high school golfers out walking. The customer service was very good from everyone encountered. Drink cart out and made numerous passes. Reasonably priced sandwich & drinks by drink cart standards. Recommended = Yes, good course overall with numerous fun golf holes.

Played the Blues (6279/70.4/131) with Eric, Mark & Itslikeimsayin in slightly less than 5H on the GK Coupon. The weather was mostly sunny with little wind in the mid 80's. My 1st time playing here, really liked the layout. Most holes have hazards down both sides, but I still felt comfortable hitting driver on all par 4/5's. You know the trouble is there, but it did not feel overly tight. Hilly layout with some forced carries and a few blind shots. The tees were mostly in good shape, a few needed divot repair. The fairways are mostly dormant Bermuda that is showing signs of greening up. Played much better than the tan with some green looked, I usually had good lies in the fairway. The rough is also mostly dormant Bermuda. Thinner than the fairways but still adequate coverage, not overly penal. The fairway traps were poor, lower quality sand with lots of rocks mixed in and more hard packed. The greenside sand traps were good. Higher quality sand and decently maintained. The poa annua greens had recently been lightly vericutt. They putted consistently medium speed, were fairly smooth and held well struck irons well. The customer service was very good from everyone encountered. Drink cart out and making the rounds. Used the fantastic GK Coupon out here today with Nickesquire. Tee time at 7:40 and we were paired with two other guys who struggled to keep the ball in play, which caused us to play slowly. By the fifth hole we were a hole and a half behind, and overall POP was around 4:50. After the round we checked in for our replay and were sent straight back out to the first tee, this time as a twosome. The group in front of us was erratic, pace-wise, sometimes playing very slow and other times disappearing from sight. We finished the second round in 4:15. Done with 36 holes right at 5:00, with plenty of sunlight to spare. For $34.50 ea., this is an incredible deal.

Course conditions are very nice. The course plays much better than it looks right now. Much of the course is dormant yellow or light green, but with mostly good coverage. Greens are probably the highlight: Medium-fast to fast and smooth. They were verticut, which seemed to smooth them out compared to the bumpy practice green outside the clubhouse. They were medium firmness, not soft nor hard. The 11th green has a section that looks like some repairs had been done, and parts of the 15th and 18th greens were thin. But overall, greens are quite good. Dormant bermuda fairways have good coverage and decent cushion nearly everywhere except for a few bare patches on the 11th fairway, and maybe a few low-lying areas elsewhere. Rough is pretty good throughout, never too deep. Bunkers were maybe the lowlight of the course. Decent sand but lots of small rocks in nearly every one I was in. Tee boxes were good, although inconsistent throughout. (We played the blues during round one and the combo tees for round two.)

I hadn't played here in probably nearly 15 years and I really enjoyed it. If anyone wants to take advantage of the GK Coupon, hit me up because I definitely want to use it again soon.

Played the blues 6279 using GK coupon on a balmy 80* day with a hint of a breeze, in about 5 hrs following a tourney group but in all fairness we were slow as a foresome with one or more of us having trouble on about half the holes. Multiple bunkers and laterals on 1 side or both on I think every hole. Two different 9s-front is up and down with some forced carries and lots of bunkers, back is laid out in more of a valley with only one hill on 16 uphill over a baranca to a rather narrow landing area and then 17 is a par 3 down hill. Still a lot of bunkers on this 9 too. Good variety and challenging and layout over all. Fairways were really good with some green starting to show up but even the dormant portions provide a nice cushion. Quite a few unfilled divots however. Bunkers had ample sand of the rather fluffy variety with not much difference between green side and fairway. Tees were lush and level and well maintained. Greens looked a little splotchy but over all rolled well with minimum bumpiness at a medium fast speed. Some of the pin placements were tough if you were above the hole or even pin high the break took you well past the hole leaving an easy 6 footer coming back Customer service was good with friendly staff-saw drink cart once on the front and back--did not see a marshal. Carts have advanced gps with yardage to trouble and specific yardage to the pin.

Played Fri Jan 29th at 7:50 staff was friendly, course is in winter mode. Tee boxes were good, flat spots and not chewed up. Fairways dormant but had good lies. Rough was not existent, it was like playing palm springs golf in the winter, only the fairways are not that green. Greens had a few ball marks but rolled good. Bunkers need more sand. Played the blues and it was not as fun as the white for my ability, although there were 4 holes I liked better from the blue there were equal number I liked better from the whites. I approached 12 green and I saw a coyote by the green and I thought, man it better start runnig away, well at least I had a golf club. It wasn't until I got real close that I noticed it was a cast statue, I had to laugh. Management put a few of these on the back 9, nice touch. Food was good afterwards.

Always enjoy playing this course, even on a frigid winter morning. Staff is always friendly and accommodating, and the overall condition, given the time of the year is probably better than most. Perhaps the recent rains helped?

I think the views and general solitude of this course is what I enjoy most. I find this a course you can score on if you keep your drives in the fairways. Not much to add to the prior review, except I did not find as many unrepaired ball marks as I expected or unfilled divots. Just lucky I guess? For the money, I find this course to be one of the better values in the IE, at least for seniors
