Played 1-15-18. Got out to see how the course was looking. Curse is in great shape. Tee boxes were perfect, fairways had occasional brown spots but minor problem. Greens showed signs of punching but rolled true and had good speed. Similar to Rams Hill. Bunkers seemed OK but was only in 2 and one had had fresh sand spread in it so around the edges was hard packed and the new stuff was very soft. The other was a fairway bunker and mostly hard pack. Not much to complain about here and as enjoyable as ever.

Played this morning at 6:50 with three other friends. Goose is one of my favorite courses but was wondering how it would play after the last two days of rain. All considering, the course drains out pretty well. There was some water in the bunkers, but moved my ball a club length
in the two I was in and had a little too much bounce on my wedge with the wet sand. I bogeyed both holes. Not their fault, mine. They let us us drive the carts on the fairways so,
apparently they didn't think it was that wet. Greens were great considering winter conditions
right now. We played in under four hours. The course is a ways from my stomping grounds, but always a joy to play.

Played Wed Jan 3rd at 8:18. Check in quick and friendly. Got out 10 minutes late. POP was 4.11. We were following a 4 some and waited almost every shot. They even commented to us on a tee box that we played fast. The club house told us about the hard and fast greens. It only took us 2 holes to realize that you had to play short and let the ball roll on the green. I actually adjusted to the greens in about 2 or 3 holes. The area around the greens was also very fast. I don't have a problem with this as you just need to adjust. I shot my best round even here at Goose 84 with a 7 and a 6 on two par 3's, so that means I was only 5 over for the other 16 holes, and no birdies. I agree the fairways are typical winter condition but had good lies. I was not in any bunkers but playing here a few weeks ago it was hit and miss.

.Had a early morning tee time, 7A.M. and a nice day. Took just under 4 hours to play. Fairways are going dormant for winter but good lies. Sand traps were hit and miss. I was in one that had nice sand and one that was fairly hard. Greens putted true and were quite fast,(the way they should be) you just better stay below the hole. Greens were a little hard but still left ball marks but ball spun back nicely. I had been having trouble with scoring the last couple of months but shot a nice 82 today so the year is getting off to a good start. HAPPY NEW YEAR

While I cannot remember ever feeling unsatisfied by conditions at Goose Creek I guess there is a first for everything. The sand traps were so thin and hard it was impossible to hit from. The greens were not just fast but are in need of watering and or maintenance, they are rock hard and you cannot stop a ball from even a wedge away. And finally, half of the ball washers were empty! overall this is the worst I have seen this course. I'm really sorry I can't be more positive since this is one of my favorite courses.

A great day at the Goose! Played 12/28, teeing off 5 mins behind schedule at 12:27pm as a 3some, and finishing 4 hrs and 09 mins later. Minimal waits throughout the round on the 2some in front (they were waiting, too), and the 3some behind waited on us, as well. Good pace, everyone was keeping up with the groups ahead of them.

Was able to hit the range and practice facility before the round for about 30 minutes, including chipping, sand trap, putting green and full grass driving range. Not included in the $80 rate w/cart. Fortunately, I had an unused ball token from a previous visit.

One of my playing partners made the reservation via phone, and was expecting something in the $65-$70 range for an afternoon rate. Oh well, I guess I will have to make arrangements in the future. I think he could've done better, as I saw rates online that were lower, so worth a few minutes of extra research to save a few dollars.

Holes looked great as you stood on each tee, and was very firm throughout, on a sunny, mid-80s degree day. White tees were level with some wear-n-tear and soft footing (recently watered) in spots. Though not quite lush, and cut short, the fairways were pretty green and provided good roll-out. Ball did sit up nicely. My drives were an extra 15-20 yards, about a 7% gain, and enjoyed a club or two less into the greens.

Generally, the greens were receptive and left a ball mark, but shots did not check-up as you'd like. Employed a strategy to play about 7-10 yards less than measurements to the pin and let the ball roll-out accordingly. Worked pretty well for me and mostly stayed below the holes or hole-high, but did have a few shots on the fringe, short of the green. Greens rolled fast to very fast downhill, and true.

Rough was short and not very penal. Did a good job avoiding the traps, and was only in the practice bunker, which could only muster a thin layer of sand over a very firm base. My playing partners said the bunkers they were in were very hard, so I guess similar. They were well-groomed, however.

Undulations on and elevation changes around the greens present a keen challenge for this course. Overall, very well manicured and great shape for this time of year and nothing really to complain about regarding the course. No GPS, but there are a number of yardage markers on each hole, though they were generally 4-5 yards off my Garmin GPS readings.

Pleasant cart lady came by 4 times by the time we hit the 12th tee, and then was heading in for the day. Course has a fair number of ice-cold water jugs throughout. Highly recommended right now.

Played 12/21. Apologies for late review. Will review the course for regulars and those who haven't played. Will start off by stating the Santa Ana's were in full force at 830am, probably 30mph. Made for an added challenge but still fun. Overall course conditions are fantastic. It was cold and windy which is probably why greens were so hard and fast, but greens, fairways and tee boxes all in great shape.

For those that haven't played, well worth the green fees and trip. Layout is pretty open, greens are huge, but depending on pin placement can be tricky. Some "quirks" to consider. Online green fees tend to be cheaper, but no price differences are given online (senior rates). You have to call if you want any discounts and book accordingly. There is no cart GPS or hole maps on the course. There are a few holes where course knowledge is worth while but not required, but if you bring GPS or play with a local, even better. Customer service from the entire staff was fantastic as well.

Showed up 12/12 @ 10:00 ish as a single and was sent down to the 1st tee to join a twosome in the on-deck position. Once again, great customer service.

Showed up 12/12 @ 10:00 ish as a single and was sent down to the 1st tee to join a twosome in the on-deck position. Once again, great customer service.
I've been playing Goose Creek for a while now, and have never seen it in such good shape. Tee boxes great, fairways perfect, rough was manageable (maybe 2"), and the greens were firm enough to stop a 7 iron and under within a couple of feet and were rolling fast/quick. The greens were rolling about as pure as I've ever seen them and with a side/downhill 3'er that you have to give the hole away for par, gives you a lot of confidence that you're going to make it.
They've been doing a lot of work to The Goose lately. They've taken out a lot of bamboo around the tee boxes and made a new tee box on #3 (not open yet) and #17 which by my GPS watch was playing 572 yards (and could probably go back another 25-30 yards) from the blue tee boxes.
POP was a little slow at 4.5 hours, but considering playing in shorts in the middle of December with no wind at one of the best public golf courses in Southern California, the delay wasn't even noticed.
BTW, the course is very walk-able, but be sure to bring your push/pull cart as they don't rent them there.
Thanks again to Goose Creek, the staff, and my playing partners, for another outstanding day of golf. Get out and play The Goose you wont regret it.

Where do I start... Played in a tourney 12/2. This course never ceases to amaze me. The whole course is green and plush. They've done a really great job keeping this course in tip top shape. Tee boxes were level and trim. Greens were fantastic, very fast and true. Rough was pretty tough because they had it about 3 inches long so if you were in it you had to really get after it. I ended up in one bunker and it was soft lush sand. Always a go to for my buddies and I. The practice facility is one of the best around if not the best any public course offers. I'll drive the 40 min from home just to work on my game here, they have it all. Keep up the great work Goose...
