Played on Saturday, 9-8-12. Teed off at 6:42am. I went out as a single and was paired with another single and a twosome that included a fellow GK'er, JMan.
The course is prepping for maintenance at the end of the month. That being said, it is still very playable and in 100% better condition than the L.A. Dog tracks I get stuck playing.
Greens were in pretty good shape, even with unrepaired ball marks.
Fairways are still nice to hit off of, at least the two I hit were.
Bunkers had decent sand in them.
Tee boxes were fairly level.

I will definitely be back and can't wait to see it in all it's glory after the over seeding.

Just FYI if you like playing Goose or are checking it out for the first time due to the rave reviews. Course is not presently in prime condition as they prep for up coming maintenance. (the place hasn't suddenly gone downhill! - just getting ready to over-seed which a lot of places don't do. You'll be happy come December).

So a few of the fairways have been killed off in readyness. Also, a majority of tee boxes have been killed too as well as some of the aprons around the greens.

The greens could use a punch too IMO as they are on the bumpier side and modest speed with some occasional burnt or bare spots. A fair amount of poorly repaired pitch marks too.

Course will be transitioning to winter grass so the next couple of months will not be typical. Be advised.

Pros- Love the layout and the overall atmosphere. Course always gives you a challenge but rewards good play. This course suits my eye very well and I love some of the layout options. Risk reward seems to favor reward for the player who is willing to stick their neck out. #2 is a great par 3 with some really tough shots if you don't hit the green. The stretch of holes from #2 thru #7 may be my favorite stretch of golf course around.(And I played them poorly this time... sigh)
Cons- Conditions are, by GC standards, down. That being said they are still nice. Some burnouts on the greens, some fairway heat marks. Sand is a bit shallow in a bunker or two, but the cons here are always nicer than most places. I compare late August/ early September conditions here to a mediocre meal at a 5 star restaurant. Better than McD always.
Overall, play here, by happy, no disappointments.

Played 8/25 Sat 7am. One of my favorite in Southern Cal inland. Course is in good shape. However, the greens are showing signs of getting beat up during summer. Saw a lot more dead spots from ball marks than last time I played which was couple of months ago. I wish more people fixed their ball marks. But still, Goose's greens are better than greens at a lot of other inland courses. Greens are tough though - better bring your A putting game. Fairways, teeboxes, and roughs are excellent. Sand was little damp and heavy. 4 hours sharp for Sat morning, so can't complain about pace. Always friendly staff and saw cart girl three times. I always enjoy playing here.

Played early 8/16/12 - Walked in and was paired up with a threesome immediately -very time efficient although not conducive to practice! Course looked a little beaten-up to me, probably the heat. Bunkers that I visited had damp, compacted sand. The diseased grass on #11 fairway is getting worse. That magnificent tree that used to affect your second shot on #14 has been pruned to the point that I hope it doesn't die. Construction of flood control and road bridge adjacent to #18 tee has wrecked the ambiance not to mention the grass. The tee boxes were, as always, immaculate. Saw the cart girl 3 times. Are the carts new? This is the first time I have played here this year and usually walked when I did before but they looked and felt updated. Despite the issues I have listed, this is still a great golf experience - IMHO, the standard by which other inland golf courses should be judged.

Played this farm today (8/9.) NICE shape--man there is some turf out there to water and mow.
Cant understand though how this place does no advertising and offers virtually no discounts while everyone else in the area Los Dogos, Eagle, Hidden Valley does.
Perhaps those courses are more difficult for the average hacker so the Goose offers an easier run at it?
$39 at twilight? Cmon........their competition is only $19-25 at twilight?

Anyways, fairways, greens, bunkers all in great shape. Just throw darts at these greens---nice and soft.
Nice green complexes with lost of swales and roll offs.
Not all that difficult of a course compared to others in the area.

Worth a visit if you haven't been there in awhile.

Every time I play here, it amazes me how lush it is, even during the middle of summer. Compared to places like Los Serranos and Empire Lakes (which are not bad courses), the condition of Goose Creek is definitely steps ahead. Played 8/5 as a 3some. Pace of play was OK, with the 4some in front playing ready golf but unfortunately were spraying all over the places. As long as they're playing ready golf, I'll never be annoyed. Greens were soft and receptive, but putts rolled very nicely and were definitely not slow. Didn't notice any brown spots on the fairway and the tee boxes were level and well maintained. Bunkers could use a bit more sand, but definitely playable. All in all, a course that never disappoints.

My favorite course in IE...was able to get out Saturday afternoon 7/21/12 @ 2:30 for $49 w/ cart. This course would cost at least double that if it were in OC.

Office staff was outstanding, free cold water every few holes, and the place is darn near immaculate. Some of the best greens I've ever played, and truly enjoyed the round. Will be back very soon.

I live just down the road and use the practice facilities at least once per week. Driving range is gorgeously maintained, and they have a huge putting green in wonderful shape. 2 chipping areas as well, and rarely crowded. Love it.

Played today in a foursome with great friends. We walked the course this morning, tee boxes,
fairways and greens all in fantastic shape. We finished the round in 3 1/2 hours. I love this course. Being 55, played for $34.00. This is what I don't get. I live in Valencia so I'm a non
resident in LA city municipals even though Valencia is in LA County and payed $35.00 to play Hansen Dam yesterday. That course was in what I would say typical shape for a muni course.
I'm venting but, if you have a friend and want to play manicured courses at a great price, there
are plenty of courses in the inland empire and else where at great prices.
