Played 10/22/11. Goose Creek has just about recovered from October maintenance. Cartpath only for just hole #1. The overseeding has taken well. Course was soggy, presumably from the extra watering to get the new seed to take. Almost every tee-shot ended up as a mud-ball and there was no roll out - balls plugged and stopped dead. Greens were still quite sandy, slow and bumpy. Bare spots on 11th fairway have been eliminated. Rough was left growing a little longer than usual. Two things I noticed - more marshaling was in effect and ball-washers have been installed where once they were absent at several holes. And while I don't blame the golf course for this, what was with the weather - 93' on October 22nd!? Give it another week and this place will be back to its usual excellent condition.

Somewhat lower rating than usual as course is still got a ways to go to come back from maintenance.

Played Sunday, 10/16. Whole course is still cart path and I imagine the back nine at least will stay that way for a good while yet as most of those fairways have very immature growth on them from the overseeding. Front nine is lusher and some fairways were downright shaggy in spots.

Greens have not come back so far from aeration 3 weeks ago. Still very bumpy and slow with quite a lot of rough or scrappy areas on many surfaces. You have to hit firm putts to have a chance.

Tees, rough and sand all very good - the rough is especially juicy so hero shots (as attempted by yours truly once or twice) may not be a good idea. Hack it out and take your meds.

Pace was good for a weekend morning at under 4.5 hours although it seemed like we waited on a number of holes.

Give it till the end of the month if you want to play it under more typical conditions would be my guess.

Played 9/20. One of my favorite courses in SoCal. Condition has always been very good. Appears course is preparing for significant fall maintenance, but greens and most fairways still excellent condition. Pretty straightforward course. Flat, but has mounding, especially around greens. A lot of greens have drop offs in front or on sides, with many collection areas to catch less than ideal shots. Greens were rolling very nicely, and offer more straight putts than you might read. What sometimes looks like a foot of break, might actuall only break 3-4 inches. You can play a lot of putts within the cup, or a cup left or right, and make plenty. Great practice range with turf conditions that match the course. Huge putting green, and 3 really good finishing holes. Long par 3, long par 5 (that usually plays into a breeze), and a classic finishing par 4 hole with water down the enitre right side, and green tucked around a gradual right hand dogleg. A must play location. Enjoy.

What can I say about this course but in good shape as always. Just an FYI. They have started early on mowing the fairways short for overseeding. Have a good week

Played on Patriot Day - GCGC is a sponsoring club although there was no obvious promotion that I could see. Golf course was in great condition as ever. The day before, it had hosted an Inland Empire amateur event. There was no posted 'pin position' board. When asked, the marshall said they had left the pin placements as they were for the championship event. I expected every flag to be in 'impossible' places but they were not too bad. Mostly they were moved way back although on the holes where they have a 'championship tee', they were quite accessible. Needless to say, we did not use those back tees although my playing partners could have - they hit it a mile. On 18, one of them drove it over 300 yards - and he was wearing flip-flops - I kid you not! Surprisingly for a holiday, pace of play was outstanding - under 4 hours.

Love this course and have played it 80% of the time over other course during the past 3 years. Played 9/1 foursome behind a threesome and another foursome behind us. Group 1 & 1/2 holes behind and threesome 1 & 1/2 ahead. Very young marshall hit us on the 12 th hole and said we had to push to keep up with threesome ahead of us. Continued to monitor our play thru the 13th,14th,& 15th finished 4 hours 10 minutes. We were not the problem for the show play well behind us. Marshall should be retrained and for us no more sorry guys.

Another great day at the Goose. Called for a twilight time for a twosome, and got out right away. It was a hot day, but there was still plenty of activity on the course....which, as usual, was in immaculate shape. Total time was 3.5 hours for two 100+ shooters, which made the heat bearable and the track even that much more fun. If I lived in the Inland Empire, I would want this to be my home course!

Not sure why it took you so long to finish. Maybe better next time. Oh yeah, course is in good condition, they are getting ready for the inland empire tournament this weekend.

The golf course is in wonderful condition. They do an excellent job of keepng this place up. My only complaints are: 4+ hours to play being the third group off in the morning is unacceptable!!. There does not seemto be any sense of urgency on the part of the staff to encourage pace of play? The staff in the pro shop was not friendy at all. Not that he was rude, just "sour" not personality what-so -ever! As much as I love this course, those factors will weigh into me decsion to return again soon
