Played 27 holes on June 3. Played front nine, then started again on front and finished on the back. At some point between the 2 front nines, greens were lightly sanded, which was dissapointing. Greens were somewhat soft, and had thin lines cut on surface, which made for some uneven and wobbly rolls. Fairways are in perfect condition. Very well maintained every where except greens on this visit, although I expect quick recovery. Overall, enjoyed my first experience here. Interesting layout...Will come back.

Played Goose Creek on 20 May and it was in great condition. The service in the pro shop, the starter, and marshalls were all outstanding. this is one of the better courses in Souther Calif.

Made the trek out to the Goose on a Sunday morning. I forgot how much I enjoyed the course. The tee boxes were in great shape, the rough was just thick enough to penalize you, the fairways were great (a bit damp because of the 0730 tee time), and the two sand traps I found myself in were in great shape with the correct amount of sand.
The only slight issue I had was with the greens. They were soft and very receptive of shots, but they were a bit fuzzy. It looked like they just hadn't mowed the greens in about 2 days. This made them much slower than I remember from the past rounds I've played here. However, they rolled pretty true (kind of surprised me) and they had hardly any divot damage at all.
The best part of the round: we finished in a hair under 4 hours on a Sunday! I wonder if the economy is hurting the Goose a bit right now because this course is well worth the green fees on the weekends. I've got to get back here more often.

Me and the usual suspects played the Goose today (5/24/09). The course was in great shape. The greens were fantastic run true and steady, fairways way real nice I heard someone say "the fairway is like carpet". Service and food was very good. Can't wait to play the Goose again real soon.

Played on Tues 5/19. The course is in great shape, fairways are green and rolling good, the greens were being sanded as we played. As a result they were playing on the slow side, and in some cases bumpy. The one bunker I was in was all dirt, and hard - not good, SW bounced and shanked my shot. Staff was courteous, and friendly, starter/marshal came around a couple of times to make sure pace was kept up, although there were not many players out on course at the time, finished in a decent 4hrs +. I would give the Goose a solid 9 today. BTW - "cooked the Goose" on this round, shot a best ever here for me, 88, yep. My personal best was 91, not bad - everything just seemed to come together.

Walked on as a single at 1230pm Sunday. Place was empty - everyone waiting for twilight rate at 200pm most likely. $75 with a cart on weekends and holidays now - wonder if there's some resistance to that price. Usual great conditions - but out of drinking water cups on 9th hole - and it was 95 degrees by then. Great pace of play of course, even when I caught up with a husband/wife twosome hitting off different tees. It looked like the twilighters were out in force by then - I spotted several slow, drinking foursomes. But got done in 3 1/2 hours. No more big flies now the dairy is abandoned. Lots of tiny midges/bugs, especially crawling over some greens. My ball had a dozen or more on it sometimes. What a good course overall!

Have played this track 4 times in the last 4 months. Is now part of my normal circuit. Always in very good shape. The course layout allows you to score if you hit the ball well. If you are not hitting it well, you can still scramble on a number of holes. Enough challenge for low handicappers, but you need to move to blue / black tee's to add some length. Overall, a great golfing experience. Not sure about true pace of place as every time I play here I'm part of the dawn patrol getting off in the first 3 groups or so. At that time, we're getting around in 3 hours no problem.

Definitely worth the price, GREAT staff, great experience. Wish they would join the "online" world for tee times though.

So we (4) hit Goose Creek with the beginning of twilight on a Sunday. I think they must space groups out every ten minutes, which sure helps pace of play. Our round was done in 4 1/4 hours and we only caught up to the 3 in front of us at 18. The tee boxes were in good shape, The rough & fairways were very good as well. Some sand traps had a little bit of mud accumulated. Greens were punched a couple of weeks back and it looks they could now roll them as there were some bumps in the road that made our putts go awry. Also there were many ball marks on greens (people...fix yours and one other). The course itself was in great shape and was easily one of the best in the IE. This is a very fair but challenging track. Be aware of flag positions on greens and take with you the hints cheat sheets from GK. It really helps out. A great afternoon of golf can be found at Goose Creek.
