After getting invited by Noel and hearing so many nice things about the course, I did my research on the course and set off to meet up with Noel for a little weekday golf excursion. I was NOT dissappointed. Tucked behind new housing developments, an Alta Dena Dairy, and a Tow Truck Company is Goose Creek; perhaps one of the best finds in this short asian's life. All joking aside, this course ROCKS! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The clubhouse although doesn't sport a banquet facility but is a privately owned concerned, I guess devoted to golf and only golf. The set up here is fair but always garners a second look. I mean this course literally played tricks with our eyes. The undulating course may look closer than it appears or further depending upon your angle of approach. The greens although punched (3 weeks ago) look almost completely healed. The fairways are great and lush. The rough fair. The sand pretty fair. Overall I was pleased with the set up, pace of play, customer service in one nice neat package of $38 to ride (Twilight). Not a bad deal considering we were a 3-some and managed to catch up with the last group before the twilight times after the 11th hole. To quote a great American, "I shall [be] return[ing]" :D

4/18/07 This is a excellent course. Very well taken care of. The greens were ariated last month and are not back to true form, bumpy. greens need to be cut and rolled.

I had my second hole-in-one ever on the 5th Hole, from the white tees. Playing about 148 to the flag....smooth 8-iron, one bounce, tracked into the cup!!

That would have made the day, right there!! But, on the 16th Hole, my good friend Dave hit a 4-iron at a front/right pin placement...188 yards...one bounce...right in the hole for HIS first ace!!

No joke!! No kidding!

What can I say. I love that course!!!!

I hear that the course is in such good shape because they have some PGA qualifying coming up. I'm not sure what...that's just the rumor.

The greens had been aerated recently so the greens were a little bumpy but very playable. The course was in excellent condition and the staff was friendly. A walkable course and an very good value.

Other than the greens, the course was in excellent shape. Give it at least a month (as that is usually how long the goose takes to fully recover) and it will be first rate again.

Played 'The Goose' yesterday...3/21. This is one of my favorites in SoCal. I've been playing here about twice a month for the past six months and yesterday was my first poor experience. The course was in very good shape, but you could see that the greens were in need of attention. Putts were a bit bumpy, but tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers were all in excellent shape. My big problem of yesterday was the pace. Awful. We got off the first tee in good shape and then had to wait for 25 minutes for hole #2. The Marshall came by...we chatted...he said it would clear up after #2...and it never really did. We never saw the Marshall for the remainder of the round. It was a 5+ hour round. I know they'll be aerating soon, so I'll give the course a break for a month. I hope that when I return, they'll do a better job of keeping up a better pace of play.

Well - this might be the first negative thing I've ever had to say about Goose Creek....but - I played on St. Patty's Day - - and the greens need to be rolled. Or something. Lumpy, bumpy....they still look nice (except for the incomprehensible number of unrepaired ball marks!) - but - watching some of our puts from the side was comical. Balls jumping all over the place.

Still the best value in So. Cal. golf.

Played yesterday (3/19) for twilight rate 38.00. It's in great shape, and the pace is good too. We played as a three-some and finished front in 1 1/2 hr. Back nine a little slower but still less th... Continue »

Played yesterday (3/19) for twilight rate 38.00. It's in great shape, and the pace is good too. We played as a three-some and finished front in 1 1/2 hr. Back nine a little slower but still less than 2hr. The fairways are very green, true rough, and the green is good (not excessively fast). Can't wait to go back!
