Got put out for our tee time 2 hours late and right away, got into a fistfight with starter over the fact that the course was obviously in crap conditon. No, not really. Just thought I'd get your attention after the string on glowing reviews for this course lately. What can I say? Got out promptly and got to play as a two-some with my brother visiting from NorCal. As always the course was in very nice condition and the greens were medium-fast and generally rolled true. Really the perfect walking course and we did. Course was busy, but moved steadily and we got around in about 4.25 hours. Nice day, nice course, bargain green fee for all of it and to cap it off I shot a personal best today. What's not to love?

Very good conditions everywhere - greens receptive but quick, and the course just looks great thruout. The fewest ballmarks on the greens that I've seen in a long time - from better followup by players here or the result of recent green aeration, but a welcome change either way. Highly recommended.

Decided late yesterday that I wanted to play (a Saturday round, 4/28/07) as a single. As always, my first choice is Goose Creek. Set the alarm, got up an out and arrived at the course at 6:05 A.M.

Just so you know...it's a 50-minute drive door-to-door from Pasadena.

Seeking a "waiting list" slot .... and a couple of cups of java, I was a bit (but happily!) surprised when Jim (the ace pro-shop starter) asked if I was "ready to go now?"

Whoa! I barely had time to put on my shoes. Tee'd off at 6:20 A.M. I think we were second-off.

With no warm-up - the first three holes were a disaster. Double-bogey, bogey, double-bogey and one lost ball. Aaarrgh!

(Note to self: Go to the Starbucks on Limonite, no matter how early it is!!)

Settled down and shot my normal 43-42=85.

But here's my real reason for posting this feedback:

THREE HOURS AND TWENTY MINUTES TO FINISH THE ROUND, FOLKS!!

That's right! THAT'S how long it SHOULD take to play a round of golf at Goose Creek!!! Not five-and-a-half hours of painful, "hit the ball, wait ten minutes, hit the ball again...wait some more" golf! But a totally enjoyable, no-waiting, "ready golf", go right to your ball and hit it round!

What a pleasure!!

The course is in great shape, as always. The fairways are as lush and as green as I've ever seen them. The greens, although bery pretty to look at, were noticeably slower than the last time I played here - but they are still very nice - perhaps some are still a little bumpy. You had to give the ball a good rap on longer putts to get the ball to the hole. If I had hit any putt at Robinson Ranch that hard - I would have rolled into the next county.

Pin-placement on #2 (par three) was punishing. Right at the crest of a slope. Bad choice by the greenskeeper!

Other than that...NO complaints!

Best way to spend a little over three hours on a Saturday I know of!!

Oh....fixed waaaay too many extra ball marks on the greens this morning. Come on!! If you're a good enough golfer to HIT the green, you're a good enough golfer to fix your own ball marks!!

Can I get an "Amen"??

The greens were slow to med-fast, some were a little bumpy, a couple of them the ball followed the lines from the aeration cuts if you did not putt it firmly. Tees, fairways and bunkers were in great shape. Staff was friendly and helpful as always. Played in 3 hr 45 min, group ahead of us was quick, those behind were on pace with us.

Played Goose Creek yesterday (4/21) for the first time. The course is a hidden gem! The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The course was in fantastic shape. The greens have almost recovered from the aerating a month ago. I'm with the old guy that another commenter referred to. Tell everyone this place stinks so that I can get a tee time when I want! I can't wait to play the Goose again. I recommend that no one play this place! LOL!

An eight year old course designed by Schmidt/Curley, looks matured and gives a feeling of lush greenery all around. Each hole has character in this course. The course will suggest you to play many tools in your bag. Together with the well kept overall conditions, it makes this a very enjoyable course to play. Many optical illusions for distances (could be my eyes???) for first time players, but you'll have to try it for yourself. Nothing fancy about the clubhouse, but it is very clean with simple sandwitches and snacks with a limited bar, though the beer is always cold. A+, for the starter, btw, he knows what he's doing.

Struck a conversation with one of the older gentleman who appears to be a local and a frequent player there and also knew of many other good courses he and I have played said pleasantly to me, "Young man, after you play this course you have to promise me something... OK, I said. ...After your game here, you will tell everyone that this place stinks and that it's just a worthless track with nothing to offer a golfer. ABSOLUTELY, SIR!!!, I replied." As we shook hands, grinned at each other, and went our separate way. ...So, there I said it.
Greens are still slow and bumpy from aeration 3 weeks ago. but still a must play course!
