I never got to play this course in its glory days, I meant to then Lake Elsinore flooded the track and shortly after that the course came on hard times. It’s a long drive for me from Thousand Oaks and I wanted to experience the course when it was at least decent shape, well it’s in decent shape, certainly not great shape, but definitely playable. I really liked the layout with all the risk/reward shots and surroundings. It features some super fun greens which are the highlight of the course. I was fortunate to play with someone that knew the course very well so I was given the correct lines off the tee and what to look out for. I think had I not had that insight, and had it not been a scramble, I would have got in some big trouble off the tee, it’s not a grip and rip track.

They are doing a lot of work still on the golf course and they will be planting a bunch of new sod to bare areas of the fairways. On the perimeters of the fairways/rough they are cleaning them up more but it will likely be some time before those bare areas are addressed fully so make sure to keep your ball in play off the tee because a shot off the fairway can take some big hops into the hazards. They are going to plant new sod to some of the tee boxes that were previously closed. Not the way back tees although. As for the greens they rolled smooth, fast and held shots,You will find some invasive grass here and there on the greens but they are addressing it and it hardly effects play. Most bunkers I was retrieving my ball from were in good shape. But being a scramble I never got to hit a shot from them so don’t have good info for us there.

After golf had some very good food and service in the clubhouse. They brought back the previous chef and are going to be utilizing their high-end smoker more. I was impressed with the tri-tip sandwich, had cold beer to go with it, watched a little golf in the clubhouse, excellent service, great 19th hole.

We had a wonderful time at this course. Had 4 chip-ins, 3 were birdies. I would say, that's the best chipping day I have ever played. Hands down! On to the review of the course

From tee to green, the course is decent. Tee boxes were good. Fairways, however were not in good shape but playable with so many bare spots throughout the course. If you're lucky and find the short grass from tee shot, winner winner chicken dinner. Even on the short grass, it is thin and the lie is very tight!

The traps were inconsistent. Some were soft and some were just so many pebbles/small rocks in them. Really need to bring your A-game when you find the traps.

Fringe/apron areas were inconsistent as well. You can tell that course management attempt to keep it playable and do have bare spots too

Greens were med/fast and roll true. Some of the greens have hidden breaks which make you scratch your head but rewarding once you hear the ball hits the bottom of the cup

Overall, we were lucked out because it was supposed to rain but we're able to squeeze in 36 holes. Hoping fairway conditions improve. We will definitely return at a later time

2/19 using Underpar $49 2some on a blustery cool am cruising around for a POP of 340 even with a pretty steady stream of golfers leaving the 1st tee. Starting with the worst==bunkers have a real abundance of rocks and pebbles--they look groomed but are generally thin--good for shots from the fairway type but not so much for greenside.
Fairways are dormant and most have ok cover which is== better toward the center and sketchy on the perimeters==there are some bare areas on 3-4 of the holes for the most part had ok lies except maybe 5-6 times from the fairway.
There is no rough fairways are flanked by bare/sandy soil which at times can amplify marginal shots as they roll into more trouble like the many burns that populate the course.
Played the whites(6281 on the card a little shorter in reality) tees level with ok cover.
Greens firm generally smooth medium fast rolling well but harder to read than I remembered not being here for about 4 months. Greens are the best feature most are large with opportunity for variable pin placements and with the slope and subtle contours--today add the wind we faced some extra challenges and were totally out of our depth on those down slope down wind putts toward front pin placements--whee!!!
Friendly staff easy check in==casual to go to 1st tee what with no starter every one just kind of fell into line to get going. Beverage cart around 3-4 times.
The course does reflect that effort has been extended to make improvements and according to staff more is on the way. The layout is good and entertaining--still has some rough spots but is worth the occasional play.

Played in just under four hours this morning - after passing a group of five on the 13 hole? Did not know they send out those groups here?? The staff is always great and the facility continues to show improvement. The tee boxes are all very level and were in great shape. The fairways also continue to show great progress with better coverage on every hole. You will still find a few bare spots on many holes but you can see the fairways starting to fill in from the middle out. On most holes if you play the hole the way you should you will find grass lies on almost every shot. People need to remember this is a LINKS course and it will never be groomed like other courses. The fairways were slightly damp on some holes and dry on others. The trouble along the edges of most fairways is pretty much just dirt and scrub. The traps my partner found were filled full of rocks! The green side bunkers seemed to have less rocks and pebbles than those in the fairways. The greens are in really nice shape with a brown spot here and there. They were actually quite fast compared to the last round we played here. Shots held on them if well struck and there were very few ball marks that needed repaired - nice! The course is really starting to look like it did years ago when it opened. I hope the owners continue to spend the money to bring the playing conditions back to a place where people want to play. The parking lot was fairly busy when we completed the round and that's a good sign.

Haven't played here for many years due to the problems the course was having. While not perfect,...I was pleased with the progress the staff has made to make the course playable and enjoyable. Tee boxes and greens were excellent. Fairways were good with some "winter rules" patches. First cut of rough was generally lush, but beyond that patchy at best. Sand traps are one area that needs to be addressed. Many rocks and not much sand. It would be better if they made them smaller but maintained them better. Best local opportunity to play links golf. The price is right.

Difficult to get through on the phone here?? Booked supposedly the first tee time and when checking in found out we were the third or fourth group out??? A lot of miscommunication from the owners here and they wonder why people stay away!! The round was finished in 3 1/2 hours and we were not slowed up or holding anybody else up - nice. The tee boxes have great thick coverage with extremely LONG grass - it needs mowed badly! The fairways are still a long slow work in progress but have improved substantially since the last time I was here. There are a few holes that are/were roped off but SOME people still decide to drive on them. I'm sure things here would be in better shape if these SAME people stayed off those areas and FIXED there ball marks on the greens!!!! The rough is still pretty much invisible here with dirt lining both sides of most fairways. The coverage they do have on the course looks like it is taking hold much better than the last few attempts - that's NICE! The sand traps are still littered with pebbles and rocks on every hole. The greens themselves were punched earlier in week and still showed definite signs of that. They had just mowed them early this morning for the first time since the plugging and rolled fairly well. I will say there are MORE ball marks on these greens in need of REPAIR than any other course I can remember playing - SAD!! The discounted green fees are very reasonable for the quality of conditions offered now and the scenery is also a draw. I would say give it two or three weeks before the greens are back and pray the progress on this course continues in the same direction.

The same overseeding task continues on the remaining three or four holes allowing no carts, one hole on the back actually as a temporary green @ 100yd out, drastically reducing a par five.
Greens are in pretty good shape, with some having issues on their parameter. Most of the bunkers looked to have numerous small small rocks.
The Burns scattered throughout the course could be surprise, but they provided a course guide along with GPS in carts that provided all the needed distances to avoid them.
Played Saturday morning @ 8 in a foursome, and the only time we slowed down was to allow a couple twosomes play thru...This place could use a push of activity to keep the rehab efforts going, which I'll soon be returning. Also a good staff for wrapping things up @ the 19th.

Was heading down to Carlsbad on 7/27 to play The Crossings but decided to stop on the way and play Summerly since I've never played here before. I saw all of the poor ratings but for $25 bucks, what the hec! Made the time on line for 7:30. Drove up and saw there was only about 6 cars in the parking lot. Some were workers and some were from kids hitting on the range. So who's on the course? No one! Check in was easy enough. Nice guy in the golf shop and he gave me the lay of the land which was helpful. Cart paths only as they were over seeding. I didn't see a soul out there so I literally had the course to myself. This course is links style and has a real nice lay out. I very much enjoyed the layout. There are some burns that come into play on tee shots and having course knowledge was helpful. Tee boxes were good. Fairways however are a mess, particularly the back 9 . Its going to take a lot of seed to help this course. Bare spots everywhere. Greens were great however. Soft but they rolled very nicely. Was only in one bunker but it was just fine, surprisingly. I would love to play here again but when it has its act together. I know they had closed here some time ago for repair and heard they might close for good. Doesn't look like it. They are currently in construction of a community park with baseball fields right next to #8 green and #9 tee box. I also noticed they are building numerous homes above #10 fairway. Great to see. I hope this place can come back.

I played this course about 7 years ago and it was a fun layout, but after multiple owners a flood and a lengthy closure the course is open for business. Truthfully it should remain closed for play for at least another 6 months because this course is not in playing condition with the exception of the greens. Tee boxes were in good shape and just a little long. The greens are the best thing about the course. They hold shots very well, but are a little slow due to them letting the grass take hold and not cutting them close. The fairways are thin in most places and the areas that have grass its long. The rough, well there is none! Every hole was roped off so carts were not allowed off the paths. The rough is all dirt with very little grass to be seen. They are attempting to grow grass, but they have a very long way to go and even when they do get grass your going to have to worry about digging out rocks as you swing. The bunkers were just ok, some were well groomed and had good sand in them and other were like a rock quarry. The staff was friendly and even let me go out early since I had arrived about 2 hours before my tee time. Hopefully in a year this course will be good. It is a fun layout and a typical links style course. Rolling fairways, no trees, burns that run through some of the holes forcing some layups off the tees and in the fairways. I hope that they can get this place back to where it was before, but until then I will stay away for now.
