Played here as a single on 4/24. I was first out at around 6:30 and it was great. The course is in pretty nice conditions (as always). My only complaint was that on 4 holes on the back 9, the pin was not up. Tough to gauge approach shot when you don't know where the pins are. On a couple of the holes, the maintenance workers finally saw me looking and put them up. Otherwise, it was a good day.

Tee boxes: Mostly level and in good conditions
Fairway: Smooth and in good conditions.
Rough: Not terribly long, but still tough to get out of.
Sand: Hard and packed. Maybe because it was still early
greens: nice and hard. Were not rolling terribly fast, most likely would if it was later in the day.

All in all, course in good conditions.

Played 4-18-2012. Course is in great shape. Greens are still recovering from being punched but still rolled pretty well. Greens are very undulating. There are no straight putts. Probably the most challenging greens I've played. Bunkers were not in the best of shape but still OK. This is a very challenging course. It will make you think your way around the course. Enjoy!

I ONLY played this course once & it was a long time ago, decided to play it to prepare for the upcoming CAN/Tour Q-School week of May 8th - May 12th.

We KNEW the greens were aerated "Will be aerating the greens 3/26 & 3/27." just a short time ago.

I am very happy to report the greens have healed very nicely, roll very true, current speed is on the slow side but it will soon change for Q-school. You can see where the greens were punched and just a few greens were barely touched at all. Speaking of the greens, lots of undulation will make for difficult putting, play for more breaks than you think.

Practice putting green is very indicative of what you'll see on the course.
Heck, you may even see short game current GURU and Champions tour player Dave Stockton with a student on the putting green and not even know it! (ahem, Dave was there today & on the course for 9 holes).

Nice easy opening holes than pay attention! A PRO yardage book is available $20 cash, I know and trust the work provided by the Pro Caddie. Bring your GPS units which took some time to sync up, my Callaway laser worked perfectly.

Very interesting layout, located in an area where you wouldn't expect hills, mounds, side hill lies, not a flat course would be strenuous to attempt to walk it. It's a challenging layout but playable for all skill levels. Any course can be tough if your not hitting fairways but you can recover in my opinion.

Bunkers: found a few but the sand is perfect texture not too fluffy but soft enough to play out of.

Fairways/Rough: No complaints here, just perfect...I did not say "immaculate" but perfect to play from. I tried to fill the unfilled divots with the available sand.

Pace of play was outstanding! even though we were a twosome waited a little bit on the front still 1 3/4 hrs for a total of just under 4 hrs!

Today there was no moving beverage cart, stopped @ the turn and refreshed with ice. Water jugs are available on the course.

Staff was very friendly when checking in as well as to answer my questions about the upcoming CAN/tour Q-school.

Practice range is ok grass stations NO MATS,, did NOT see a chipping/pitching area to get the feel for the grass.

Overall conditions are very good to excellent.
I KNOW I'll be back to play some more practice rounds....

This will probably be the last review for OV before they punch early next week so just be aware of that. The greens were quite bumpy today as just about all of the Poa had budded making reading them befuddling at best and impossible at worst. Other than that, the course was at its usual splendor with great tee boxes, amazing fairways and lush rough. Played terribly but enjoyed myself anyway since it's such an engaging layout.

Played for 53 dollars which I believe is a great deal for a course this nice.

Good: Fairways were nice and cut low. Visually looked great and played well too. Greens were the highlight of the day. Solid speed but not to deadly fast like some posts say below. Probably rolling 10.5-11.5 but the pins were in crazy hard spots and these greens can provide a serious challenge if you don't put the ball on the right tier. I had only one putt bump off line all day. Rough is very thick and fairways tend to bounce in the rough if you don't hit the ball in the exact right spot.

Bad: Tee boxes need some TLC.

This course is a solid golf facility and for 50-60$ it is a must. I played from the tips and got my butt kicked and apparently it is a Q school qualifying GC and now I know why!

Played 12/28/11. Course is fantastic and in exceptional shape, but for a few bunkers. A real tough test from the tips, especially with the wind howling. As difficult as the conditions were, it was not unfair. The greens were running at a 13 according to the clubhouse and were every bit that quick. They held shots well, though. The staff is excellent, the best around.

Played this Course yesterday 12/23/2011 and the greens are like putting on the sidewalk, fast. On your approach the ball will NOT hold on the greens if its a low trajectory shot because the greens are very hard and fast. Your approach shot to the greens must be hit with a very high trajectory for it to land soft and not take such a vicarious roll off the greens. I also recommend a soft cover ball for spin, you will need it. But the Course is in great shape and the front counter personal is totally awesome when it comes to making you feel welcomed. Its was cold and a little breezy I recommend long pants and not shorts ( its that time of year in the area). Always worth the drive.

Played mid-morning Sat Dec 10. The course is in excellent shape. The greens are running as fast as I've ever seen them - prob 12+ on the Stimp. Smooth and fairly receptive; they were a bit on the hard side, but that's just a function of the colder weather. The fairways were in fantastic condition as well - nice and tight. Don't worry about the some "brown" patches here and there; the best courses play hard and fast and an overwatered, super lush and green course isn't the way courses should be maintained. Hard & fast conditions are a great test of your ability to control your golf ball. They know what they are doing here. I'd say the conditions of the greens, right now, probably among the best in all of SoCal - public or private facility. It'd be difficult to find anything better.

Played here as a foursome on black Friday 11/25 @ 7am. Course was in great condition. Greens were running fast. Everything was lush and green. Rough wasn't particularly long, but still a challenge.
What makes this course great, is that the staff there cares about its reputation. The groups ahead of us tried to play as a seven-some (wtf), but the Marshall wouldn't have any of it. They were on them like white-on-rice. Plus these guys were hella slowing the pace. Once again, the Marshall was on them and had them speeding up play. A any other course, this would have lead to a five hour round, but not at oak valley. Still finished in Nader 4.5 hrs. Love it!
