So another opportunity presented itself last Saturday, which was a clear skies and some breeze enough to make me think a half to full club difference.

Our group went off about 9:54. behind the tournament who started on the 15th hole, but we caught on to them around the 4th hole or so and it was a bit slow as we finished about 4 and a half hours. My company had to leave and could not come out for the second round anymore, but I went out again and the course was pretty much empty- no one in front and back of me and I had a leisure time of just under 3 hour round.

The course was in good shape from fairways to green. The teeing grounds were a bit used up on the whites where I played both rounds. I think I was in one fairway bunker and a couple of greenside bunker for the day. The fairway bunker was pretty crusty and almost had no sand, but I didn't mind that very much. The greenside bunker I was in were okay with sand- not the greatest quality sand, but it's okay.

Considering the hot weather we're having the fairways were in great shape. The greens were soft and were very receptive. They were smooth and rolled nicely. I think maybe 10.5 as a guess. I liked it a lot and had a blast on both rounds.

There's no bev cart there ever, but the restaurant is in between nines- just have to plan for that. Also, the pro shop guys were all very nice and accommodating like always.

There were some dried out areas I saw but it's far from being in play- no big deal at all.

All in all, this place had just become a favorite spot to come visit and play. Great job Oak Valley!

So I had an opportunity to play here at Oak Valley on Saturday, 06/23/18. It was a sunny day with winds no more than 12 miles an hour if any. My guys played an early round, one of them joined me for 36 holes with replay of $30 or so. Our first tee time was just passed 12:00pm and the pace was leisurely at 3:45. The following time was even faster it seems like. The guys at the pro shop were cool to bend a couple irons of mine before my range time. The hotdog and the drinks were served nicely at the restaurant. We played the white tees on both rounds and made it for a fun day. The greens were fine, but it just tends to get a little bumpy around that time of day it seems. The bunkers were okay from the two greenside I was in. The teeing grounds were mostly level- some slight slope from a few tee- not a big deal. The fairways were good and weren't over watered nor dried out. There were no bev/snack cart, but the clubhouse is in between 9s. I noticed there are now signs to be ware of mountain lions crossing. I was telling my bud that I met one of them on #6 tee a while back- last year late in summer I think. It stared at me and I didn't take my eye off of it for what seems a long time at the time. It slowly walked away but I left even though there's plenty of sun left on my third round. Just glad nothing happened.

Had to take care of some personal business out in San Bernadino and was looking for a place to play after. Decided on OV as it has been a long time. I actually played here not long after it opened in the early 90’s if I remember correctly. That’s how long it’s been and couldn’t remember many holes but do remember there were not any homes out there at that time. In fact nothing was out there. What a change. Starter sent me out solo and followed a slow 3 some which was fine. I wasn’t in any hurry but was able to bypass the groups ahead on the back 9 and finished in a little over 3 hours. But what a nice golf course! The layout is not real difficult but is a lot of fun. Fairways are generous and are in great condition. I didn’t have a bad lie. Some dry areas out there but not many . The rough was in great shape and very playable. Bunkers were hard and damp. The greens are in great shape. Pretty soft, were holding and were rolling true. Some undulations making putts difficult to read. I was very impressed with this course and cannot say enough good things about it. In addition, they have a real nice driving range and practice area. I just wish I lived closer to this course as I would make it a regular place to play. Definitely recommend!!

Out to Beaumont with the Dawgs on Oak Valley, early Sat. morning. Good PoP just over 4 hrs with little to no waiting ... course pretty much open. Played white tees which made the course play fairly easy. Not a lot of trouble unless you're way off your game. Fairways generous and rough cut reasonably low, very good grass cover with a few hard pan areas. Bunkers were in great shape.

The defense are trees and some H2O hazards. Greens are not terribly difficult unless you're above the hole, rolling at medium speed. On guy said they can get insanely fast here at times but not today.

Layout winds thru a Beaumont neighborhood but houses do not come into play, most errant balls can be found. Various mounds and some strategic bunkering to avoid off the tee. It can get really windy here, so check the weather report and try to play early. Pre-paid green fee ... check the course for rates. Recommended, especially if you live out here in the desert area, otherwise it's a hellofa drive.

Been wanting to play this course for a while now and finally got the chance to today. Teed of at 10am with a twosome

Pace: 4 hours 10minutes. Virtually no one around us until we caught the group in front of us on hole 13.

Greens: Bumpy and a little slow. Greens look like they were verticut 2 or 3 days ago and werent rolled or mown so Id put the stimp at roughly 8.5

Fairways: Were pretty nice, a few dry spots but nothing too horrible.

Tee Boxes: Solid aside from the par threes which could use a little more attention

Traps: Never saw one all day but from the looks of them, were pretty nice

Rough: Fair but not over penalizing. No issues there

Overall, I really enjoyed the course. The layout, price, and pace were all phenomenal and once the greens get into better shape, this would go into my top 5 courses.

Had a chance to Play this course for the first time a good long while and glad the timing was right because the course really is in Pristine Shape.

Had a chance to Play this course for the first time a good long while and glad the timing was right because the course really is in Pristine Shape.

Greens: The best Ive ever seen them at Oak Valley, perfect time of the year to play. No major divots, no bare or even thin spots. They are rolling great, no real bumps that we noticed.

Fairways: Perfect, no bare spots, absolutely no bad lie on any fairway, cant say that for all courses we play.

Tee Boxes: Solid, a few with some bad divots, not nothing major.

Traps: Most of the ones I saw where rather nice, no mud a couple of them where a little hard but definitely playable.

Rough: lush and tall and it always is at this course, nothing to complain about.

Overall the course is great, looking forward to going back soon. You can find the better price on Golf Now, worth every penny.

After reading a positive review I decided it was time to pay a long anticipated return to Oak Valley. Played on 8/24 at 840 am, getting a really nice discounted rate of $40. The course was nearly empty. There was a twosome that went out about 15 minutes before us so there was no delays at all playing right at 4 hrs. It was a very enjoyable round. Weather was good, a little wind came up while on the back nine but it posed no negatives to play. Nickesquire was spot on with his descriptions of the course. Not much of anything I can add but just wanted to throw out another comment to say how good the course is playing now. Hope you all get a chance to get a round in.

Played the Whites (6316/70.5/130) with Andrew1, Marcus and HmtGolfGuy in slightly over 4.5H playing behind their Men's Club. $45 w/cart Sr. weekday rate. The weather was clear, fairly calm and warm. Combination of being far from my home(s) and rarely finding a "deal" resulted in me not played here in around 25 years. Did not remember much about the excellent layout, but it is both fun and challenging. The playing conditions were very playable. The tees had decent coverage and were mostly well maintained. The fairways were mostly poa, are firm and were winter thin. The combination of firm and thin produced some long drives. The rough is lush, several inches deep and thick. Lost ball rough unless you are right on top of it. Using anything more than a short iron out of some of the questionable lies was a recipe for disaster. The sand was nicely maintained with fine grain sand. However, the bunkers I was in/around had way too many rocks in them to be considered good. The large, undulating green complexes are challenging. VERY firm, they were smooth and putted medium fast. This course would be really challenging to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. No drink cart out, the Marshall was out patrolling. No GPS on the basic carts. All grass driving range was a +. Definitely recommended.

Winter conditions throughout.The only thing thriving is the rough after the rain (and that's not necessarily a good thing!)

Fariways are dormant gray with many sprouts of poa in them 4/10. Tee boxes generally fine but a few were shaggy and 3 or 4 were noticeably crowned 7/10

Rough was very healthy, US Open stuff with the ball frequently sitting down so you couldn't see it till you were over the top of it. 9/10. Sand was firm to compacted at times (after the rain) and needs some grooming 7/10.

Greens were slow and very bumpy (one had fungus at the back) and did not track well at all 4/10. They were disappointing for such a course and for what otherwise would be memorable, contoured surfaces to putt on.
