Got a deal on GolfNow. Price is too much for this course. The greens, fairway, and tee boxes were in good to great shape. No complaint there. The sand traps were some of the worse I have seen. Grass is growing out of them in many places. The design is a little short. Lots of 4 irons 210 tee shots to a large dog leg. Two of the par 5's have no chance for going for it. Overall the course is needs some attention and if the tee boxes could be moved back on a few holes, this would be as good as the other courses in the area.

Early morning round in about 3.5 hours with only a little wait on a few holes. The course is in the great shape right now - probably the best in many years. The warm weather has really encouraged the bermuda to thicken and the rough to grow. They are putting quite a bit of water on the entire place with all of the heat. The tee boxes were in fine shape, a few are slightly sloped but not too badly. The fairways were cut noticeably shorter than the rough and even though damp provided for roll if the ball found them. There are very few thin areas to find anywhere on the course. The rough was pretty thick and made finding your ball in it very difficult. The traps are really the only spot on the course that still needs attention - most are hard as heck and many were damp. Once you get accustomed to the conditions of the compact sand in the traps you can play from them. The greens are in excellent shape and very quick - even when wet! There were many ball marks on a few of the greens that get hit on a regular basis - very discouraging to see what the inconsiderate golfer does/doesn't DO for the others that pay to play behind them!! I really recommend a round or two with the current course conditions.

Early am round taking 4 1/2 hours due to slow playing partners! The course was in very good shape today but very damp on a few holes. Tee boxes were are in good condition and the warm weather has filled in the bermuda fairways nicely. The rough was much thicker than it's been recently and very damp on a few holes. The greens were beautiful green with the best coverage I've seen for many years. The length of the greens was also much longer than usual surely due to the heat. The greens rolled well but quite a bit slower and were somewhat bumpy. The many traps I found were nicely groomed with damp hard packed sand. The 18th fairway greens were in slightly better shape than my last visit here - they still need work. The maintenance crew had the creek on 18 also shut down with work around the pond area - bummer. The staff is always great and the food is pretty good at the 19th hole!

Played a Birthday round here yesterday, teed off at 6:50 paired up with Bob. POP was fairly quick but very casual, waited once on group in front and had someone catch us on #17, finished in 3:30.

For years, this course has been the “red-headed stepchild” of the Temecula area. However, at least for me personally, this is no longer the case. Conditions were good to very good throughout. Fairways had good coverage with a few scattered thin spots (#8), tees were in good shape (except #5, it was terrible but it’s location means it’s probably impossible to keep it in good shape). Rough was medium length and thickness, getting a lot thicker around the greens. Sand was above average, nothing spectacular but consistent.

Greens were somewhat soft, held even longer shots fairly well. Putted very smooth at medium speed. These are the highlight of the course – many holes have different tiers and/or depressions/bowls – be on the correct level or pay the price (four 3-putts on the front 9 before I got the hang of the speed and break!)

The layout itself is a little quirky with quite a bit of up/down on probably 1/2 the holes. A few pretty short par 4's, but don't assume they'll play easy. Some are considerably uphill, other's have water right in front of the green - combine that with some diabolical pin placements on those holes and it's definitely provides a solid challenge.

Compared to the Rancho California course just a couple miles away, I thought this course was a clear step above in conditioning. Better pricing and conditioning = better value - I'll be visiting this course much more often than it's neighbor.

Also, have to comment about the pictures in the entry walkway. Each hole is dedicated to a golf "Legend" and they have a picture of each next to their respective hole. Ranging from Tom Morris to Jack, Arnie, Lee, Gary, Annika . . . it's a nice touch.

Early four hour round in cool cloudy conditions. It's amazing how nice the greens have firmed up since the aeration a few weeks ago. The greens are very nice and nearly free of any ball marks. They are holding shots pretty well - but seemed quite a bit slower than usual. The tee boxes are in okay conditions with a few being a little thin. The fairways for the most part are still in good shape with good coverage on most holes. The rough along many holes is getting fairly thin, with the exception of a few holes (especially 18) where the rough consists of weeds and foot long brush. The finishing hole should be one of the better conditioned holes on a course in my opinion - after all it is the last thing you'll see during your round. The fairway bunkers on 18 are terrible and the surrounding rough is the worst it's ever been. The green side trap I was in on 17 was like granite and in desperate need of work! The staff has always been welcoming and in a great mood even at six in the morning. Still recommended for a reasonably priced fairly well conditioned course in the Temecula area.

Out early this morning with the wind and rain but before the Hurricane Golf Junior tournament. The pace of play was just over three hours. The course is in pretty good condition after the heavy rains earlier. The tee boxes were somewhat damp but provided good footing and were trimmed well. The rough was pretty long for this course and filled with a lot of clover - made finding shots in it an adventure. The fairways were nice and green and provided for roll if your shots were hit on the right trajectory. They are still hit and miss with numerous bare spots and clumps of mixed grasses - but nice to the eye. The traps were for the most part free of any water and looked damp - we didn't play in them today. The greens are in great shape and rolling nicely. Most had very few ball marks but were surprisingly not holding shots well? I guess with the kids out there that they greens had not been watered except by the rains? Still a good local public course to play a quick round on anytime. Staff always friendly. FYI to the local Temecula area golfers - the LEE husband and wife are now members here! HA ha

2/3 $16 birthday round starter got us out 20 min early 4.10 POP on a nicer than expected day with no rain nor wind. Fairways mostly dormant with some tufts of another kind of grass--lies were generally ok and provided ample cushion while still giving fairly good roll. #8 had the only wet area that required relief. Rough was varied some thin and easier to play from and some that had a great deal more resistance than I perceived. Couple of areas around the greens had a thick bladed variety that would really eat up the club. Lesson here is to take more time with the practice swings for assessment and really commit to the shot.
Found a handful of bunkers filled with pretty heavy sand recently groomed but still damp below the surface. Even with 2-3 rakes present about 1/3 of the traps had left over foot prints. Some one needs to invent a Roomba for the bunkers.
Tees were mostly level a little thin-- some sanded divot damage on the 3s--but only the #4 blues were bare but still able to tee up ok.
Greens .were large, fast, with lots of contour and some having 4-6 feet of elevation gain from front to back. Course uses 6 numbered pin placements providing a real interesting and challenging variety. Layout is varied enough and even being surrounded by houses there is enough buffer to give a natural feel.
Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Thanks again for the birthday hospitality.

Played here on Friday AM. The course is in very average winter condition.

Greens: Good condition except for #18, otherwise smooth, medium to fast and firm.

Fairways: still a few wet spots but they are marked off. Very firm and very thin.

Rough: 1-3" high with some bare spots.

Traps: not very fluffy but playable.

Driving range was mats only today.

Cart girl was around twice.

Not worth the standard $ rate.

We were the second group out this a.m. but passed by the first group (thought we paid to watch them play) after the seventh hole - we finished in three hours. I think we were home when the first off finally finished!! The course is still very damp from all the rain, but in pretty good shape. Tee boxes were a little thinner than usual but okay. The fairways were hit and miss with many thin spots on several holes. The bermuda is dormant and the other grasses are coming back nicely. You will find a bare spot here and there with some very soft fairways and greens. The most improved part of the course since my last round here were the sand traps and the sand quality. The traps were free of the usual weeds and grasses - most were raked very well also. The rough was fairly thick when present but playable. The greens are in GREAT shape right now with hardly any ball marks, smooth and rolling pretty quick! The rates are similar to others in the area with great deals available thru Costco. Recommended for most!
