Quick sub four hour round on a nice cool morning. Tee boxes here have always been a little rough and some are slightly sloped - but all are very playable. The fairways were for the most part dry and tight with a few damp spots and a couple are nearly dirt. The rough is not too thick and you can still play from it without much trouble. The greens are in excellent shape - even the few here that are questionable at times are in very good shape. The greens are very quick and rolling nicely. The traps are in very good shape also - most are somewhat compact but very playable. The staff is generally happy to see you and always professional. The warm fall weather has helped keep this place in very good shape - hopefully the winter rains will come soon.

Played 10-9-16 with a birthday deal. They offer a ‘free’ round up to 7 days before or after your birthday- just a ‘cart fee’ of $16. The lady in the pro shop was super friendly and gave me range balls and a logo ball. They have a nice grass range and a large putting green that is in very good condition.

There course was wide open when I arrived for my 9am tee time so I ended up playing solo. I was hoping not to but it ended up being the best thing. My game last weekend was so pathetic that this gave me the time to really relax and concentrate and I played much, much better.

The fairways were mostly lush, but many holes were wet to the point of mushy from early morning watering. A couple of the greens had some small brown patches but otherwise they were smooth and rolled medium speed. They were super soft so ball marks were huge and deep but fixed very cleanly. The tee boxes were a bit thin and the par 3’s had their usual share of divots but mostly level so no complaints. The rough which, surprisingly, I was in only a few times, was short and easy to hit from.

I had caught up to a father/son on #8 and they let me play through. On the back, there was a couple playing kind of slowly, so I replayed a par 5 to put some space between us. I finished in 3.25 hours. I like the course a lot. There’s nothing truly remarkable about it, just enough elevation changes, doglegs and water to keep it interesting. I would definitely play there again for the right price.

Got in a quick 3 1/2 hour early morning round on Sunday. The course was in much better shape than I expected. The tee boxes are always a little shaggy and thin and a few are still not completely level. The fairways were a bit thin compared to other courses I've played lately - but with all the water that has been dumped on the course they were not too bad to hit from. The rough has been cut to nothing - it's not a good place to roll into because you probably will not find your shot. The green side rough however is very thick. The traps were wet and hard as usual, with some being little more than mud with sand sprinkled on top. The greens were in very good shape overall with the exception of a few bad fungus spots on a couple. I noticed much more kikuyu grass around the greens than I've ever seen here - it can make chip shots tough!! My one complaint was I made my birthday round tee time using their on-line booking - only to be told by the pro shop that you need to call for your birthday round? I have a feeling if I had called that I might have been told the only times available were late in the day. I've played this course many times in the last twenty five years and have seen it at it's best and worst - it's still a ways from being in great shape. The college that runs the course has made many improvements over the last few years and it would be nice to see it continue.

This is somewhat of a moral dilemma for me, because I hate to be given a birthday present and then go complain about it publicly on the Internet. But with no reviews since April, I feel obligated to write a review even though I played on a completely free birthday round out here today. I checked in around 12:30 and was sent straight out by myself, and basically had the whole course to myself. I waited briefly on the 9th hole for a twosome to clear the green, and then passed them at the turn. Total POP was 2:20, without even rushing. That's one big positive.

Conditions are extremely mixed and inconsistent throughout the course, although "mixed" might imply some areas are very good. None were. Here's a breakdown: Greens were good/decent for the first seven holes. They were soft, somewhat smooth and ran medium-fast to fast. Then, starting on the eighth hole, the greens were rock hard and extremely pock-marked from healing ball marks. Because they were so hard, they were even faster than the previous greens. They stayed rock hard for a couple holes, and then went back to being a little softer and more accepting of shots. But then, the 18th green is one of the worst-conditioned greens I've seen in a long, long time. It was a patchwork of about 50% grass and 50% dirt. Fairways for the most part were thin but playable. Rough varied from thick, gnarly stuff around some greenside bunkers to non-existent/bare spots. Bunkers seemed like they were somewhat maintained, but all in need of a good, deep raking. Tee boxes were inconsistent from one hole to the next and not great overall. Several front nine holes also reeked like raw sewage.

I'd played here once or twice previously when it was known as Temeku Hills, but that was a long time ago. Obviously the recession/golf downturn has taken its toll here. I was never a huge fan of the course, but it does have lots of dramatic elevation changes going for it and some quirk in the layout that could make it kind of fun. However, current conditions make it very difficult to recommend for anything other than a free birthday round, and even then, go in with lowered expectations.

Stay away from for a couple weeks at least!!! The greens here are in sad shape with no fee discount given? There is not nearly enough sand on the greens to fill the large holes punched in them! The tee boxes are in good shape and the traps are much improved. Fairways are hit and miss with spots of thick and thin both mixed. The course was not busy at all for a Saturday morning - we were a few of those stupid enough to pay full fair for a course not nearly deserving. The staff is always great here and great to talk with. The round took only three hours to finish which was nice - just stay away for a while unless you enjoy thin very bumpy slow greens!

I played yesterday with a Meet-up group. We had 20 players and a nice deal for $42, including range balls. I had a long-expired Group Golfer voucher that I was hoping to use. I called about a week ago to see if they would accept the $25 I had paid towards yesterday’s fee. The guy I spoke with said he's never have heard of Group Golfer and had no idea what I was talking about. (really??). Anyway, I took the voucher with me just in case. The same guy was there when I checked in. He said he couldn’t give me the $25 credit but I calmly and persistently explained that the paid amount doesn't expire and he finally accepted it. Our first group teed off at 9am. The course had a few interesting holes, but overall pretty ordinary. The tee boxes were all thin but level. The fairways were thin and patchy but playable with lots of roll. The fairway bunkers were terrible, just big hard dirt holes. The greenside bunkers were clean and soft. The greens were the best part. They were soft, smooth, fairly fast. There were very few ball marks which was very nice. We finished in just over 4 hrs. Each hole is named after a famous golfer with their photo at the tee box. I really enjoyed looking at the pics. I’d like to play here again when it’s in better shape. Hopefully by then they will also have logo balls for sale.

2/5 last of the birthday rounds $16 cart fee 930 tee time but the starter worked us in at 850 real friendly staff excellent customer service had not played here for over 20 years and kris my playing partner and fellow birthday boy had never played this course. didnt remember much about the layout course is pretty straight forward with a few holes with blind landing areas but fairways are wide enough to be forgiving. with all the housing around now it looks like mennifee lakes with more elevation changes. fairways were dormant but gave good lies no real rough except in a very few places mostly closer to the side of the greens. greens were really good rolled well and consistently--only the front of 8 was really chewed up. very few ball marks anywhere green side bunkers were well groomed medium heavy sand consistent well filled quite playable. fairway bunkers were more firm and playable as indicated by kris. tee boxes were level generally in good shape with only one or two exceptions. pop right at 4 1/2 following senior mens and a skins game of 3-4 4somes. shout out to GK and LEGENDS for the birthday promotion worth the hour 15 drive to play a course in above average winter condition looking forward to a summer round

Place was very busy today with many golfers. Our group was able to finish the round in four hours - we were off early! The fairways are nearly all dormant with many clumps of green everywhere. The tee areas were in passable shape but a little thin. The traps are in better shape than in the past as well. The greens were great with the exception of the 8th - terrible shape! Almost every green still showed signs of recent maintenance - not sure how long ago that was done. The staff is great here and the rates are acceptable.

Most greens were nice, save for #8 on the front....huge dead holes in the front rt. quadrant---had to be some sort of disease. $39 holiday AM rate was pretty good compared to other local area courses. Great, quick pro shop service and starter--very efficient.
