I played this course on Sat Nov 6.. I have never seen this course play that slow, took from 1 until 6pm to play 14 holes, the greens are in the worst shape, bumpy and in dis-repair, people dont't fix their ball marks or divots anymore. It just to be one of my favorite tracks. Something is up with this place.. Other than that, the course is a great design with a very insteresting and challenging Back nine.

Played Sat 10/30 9 am (after rain). I was very pleased with what the new management has done with this course. Last time I played was last year and I was very disappointed back then. Wow, what a difference. The course maintenance has improved tremendously (almost day and night difference) since last year. Pace of play was little over 4.5 hours, which is not bad for sat in SC. With golfnow.com deal at primetime, combined with excellent course conditions and good service (their clubhouse food is good too), it was worth the price 110%. Would recomend for anybody. And, you can't beat the view at the 18th hole tee box!

I have played all the other courses in the same general area: Champions Club at the Retreat, Eagle Glen and Dos Lagos. This course is by far the best in terms of layout, challenges, fairway and green conditions. Customer service is good at all of the other courses and no different here.

Upon arrival, I noticed right away how green the fairways and greens were. This course is tucked away in some residential areas and cannot be seen from the freeway. I grabbed a warm up basket and headed to the grass driving range. The range was in great shape with the hitting areas nice and lush. There were some divots but, nothing that would make you say that "this sucks." The practice putting green was in great condition. Flat, smooth and medium to fast with breaks.

When my buddy and I were ready (7:45AM), we headed to the tee box. It was nice and level with little to no divot marks. Unfortunately, I must have been overly anxious because I snap hooked it OB - oh wells.

We were a two-some playing behind another two-some with another two-some behind us. We tried to join the group in front of us but, they seemed to want to play by themselves. They were a little on the slow side and was starting to slow down the pace. We made it obvious that we were right on their heels and they finally asked us to play through at the turn.

We complete the front 9 in a little over 2-hours! Frustrating but, understandable with the two-some in front of us taking forever on some of the holes. Again, the layout has elevation changes, undulating fairways and greens with false fronts guarded by bunkers.

The scenery is nice. Lots of mature trees and areas where I bet there are a ton of snakes. Thanks goodness it was on the colder side and a little rainy. Hole #18 (Par 5) is spectacular. The elevation drop has got to be 200-250ft. The fairway is narrow with water coming into play for those that want to use driver - like me! I striped my driver right into the middle of the fairway leaving me 74 yards to the pin.

Overall, we finished the back 9 in less than 2-hours and we were packed and ready to head back home around lunch time! My score sucked and I attribute it to playing a new track, a little rain and a slow two-some in front of us (I know, excuses!).

I recommend this place to any and all. For those that are not consistent with their driver - leave it in the bag. Bring your short game. If you can keep it in the fairway, you will have a great time. If not, plan on bringing at least a dozen balls because you are not going to find them.

Course is in great shape. Given the maintenance of many courses, and it's football season..it was a crowded SAT here! Green were medium speed...fairways, rough and tee box was in great shape. Saw the cart girl 1 time..

They have been watering in recent months and it shows. If conditions stay about the same as now I will play here more next year. The 17th hole is one of the best par 3's around.

Played our tournament on Saturday. The course was in great shape, much better than when I last played here. Staff was cordial, and helpful. Pace of play was slow as expected for a Saturday and a tournament round. The fairways rolled well, the greens were on the slow side (maybe 9 on the stimp), a bit fluffy and bumpy, but were in nice condition otherwise. The bunkers were mixed dirt and sand with firm soil underneath, made club bounce into ball on some shots.

Always enjoy the scenery and ambiance here. One negative was the coffee shop/restaurant. We were some of the first morning customers in for breakfast, although I don't expect this to be fast food I felt it took longer that it should have for 4 orders of egg dishes. Just my opinion. Cart girl came around twice during our round, and marshal came around several times to check on pace of play, offer cold water, and make sure we were enjoying ourselves.

Yes it is true that myself and my superintendent of HVGC have been at Glen Ivy for 3.5 months. This course is so fun to play, it is in very good shape and getting better weekly, the greens are almost as good as HVGC, the bermuda fairways are lush, the rough is perfect height of fairness and the bunkers are decent to good.


Sept 24th the course goes to public trustee sale, so come on out and play our course and visit with me this month. Hopefully I will remain here, it is fun good golf course with many of residents, members and public play.
