4/18 using underpar $45 2some on a coolish occasionally breezy 830 start with a 4 hr POP.
Fairways were mostly good with a rare lie that was on the thin side. Rough was generally penal, mostly about 2 inches quickly impeding forward progress and often providing a challenging shot and that describe the areas closest to the fairway. Stray further and face deeper clumpier angry grasses that 1st attempt to forever hide the ball and then try to wrest the club from your grip. It is possible that beyond these areas "there be dragons".
Tees were mostly level with a few shaggy areas and some random divot damage. Never found myself in a bunker.
Greens are in the recovery process medium speed and still a tad bumpy but not bad considering.
Staff was friendly and helpful as my son who was joining me hit bad traffic and pro shop staff suggested I tee off with the assigned 2some as there were several groups following us and he could be ubered out which he was in time to join us on the 2nd tee.

Looking for a "value" course, so El Prado fits the bill. I had hoped to play Chino Creek, but I knew it had been a few weeks since they Punched greens on Butterfield, so that was my choice. They actually rolled fairly well, a little bumpy, but very puttable. Fairways are in good shape compared to prior rounds. In fact I thought the overall condition of the course was quite good.

I always enjoy playing both El Prado courses, because it's good solid basic affordable golf. Staff is accommodating, however I do miss seeing Dennis when I play now. I liked talking with him prior to going out and he was always very punctual in the mornings.

3/22 using Under Par $45 2some on a really nice SC spring day paired with a couple of nice golfers from OC area. Most areas of the fairways were lush with good cover and excellent lies, nicely cut with good cushion. Some lower areas were still wet and some slopes showed evidence of run off. #11 had some thin areas along the lake which appeared to have been caused by over flow. Fairways are generally wide, however that did not keep players in our group from finding the abundant and deep rough which was an eclectic collection of grasses and other plant forms which made for difficulty in locating the ball and the having to play it all of which contributed to our plodding 4 1/2 hr POP.
Tees were overall lush and level. Bunkers looked good but played poorly as the well groomed mix of sandy mud often his the thinness of the lie.
Greens are very healthy.but were a little grainy due to the composition of the grasses. Rolled at medium speed and tended to take some adverse breaks as the ball slowed.
Greens are scheduled for punching 3/25.
Friendly staff, grass driving range(small bucket per player included in price) and large practice green that provided about the same pace as on the course.

Played Fri Mar 1st with our OFG group, had a 7am tee time. Check in was very quick and friendly and he said we could go out when we were ready, so we went out early. We were 3 some 1 riding and 2 walking, POP was good at 3:45. Course is definitely in winter mode, fairways appeared to be what ever grew, greens were the best part on the course. Price for senior walking was good and the snack bar has good prices. Edison it doing work so we had to hit our tee shots on 11 OVER 2 survivors and on 12 ther is a big crane on the left side if the fairway abou 215 yards out from the whites.

Decided to get out and play on 1/31 before the rain hit. Chose El Prado, Chino course as it’s been a long time and I figured it wasn’t very crowded. I was right. Very few folks out there so I got out solo walking around 10:45. was told there was a 2 some ahead of me but they were way ahead. The course has always looked ragged. Especially around the tee boxes with weeds starting to grow. Doesn’t look very attractive but the tee boxes themselves were in nice condition. You can see there was effective over seeding done. Wasn’t expecting great fairways but they weren’t bad. Some bad lies, browned out and thin areas but over all acceptable. The rough was pretty beat up consisting of thick grass or hard pan. Bunkers seem to be more dirt than sand but were playable. The greens were very nice but that’s always the case here. A couple of greens had some bad burns and they ran a little slower than I expected but again, acceptable. The rain hit when I was on #7 but I had rain gear and waited out the hard stuff for a few minutes then continued on when it lightened up. Got to #8 tee box and got some more rain but also saw lightening. The rain came early but wasn’t expecting lightening. A couple of lightning strikes right over me. Yikes! What do I do now? Hid out under a tree for a while then finished out the hole. However as I was walking down the fairway, Kevin, the GM drove out in his car (not a cart) to see if I needed any help as he knew I was the only one out there. What a class act! Told him I would finish out the round as both lightning and rain had stopped. El Prado has always shown great customer service but today was truly exceptional. Always forget about the length of this course, over 6800 from the blues and the layout is pretty nice but it is still a challenge at a good price.

Played here 1/19/19 with a 7:35 am tee time with a friend. We got paired up with 2 others. First off, course was way too wet still and very muddy. We found ourselves tip toeing through the fairways so we wouldnt sink in the mud. Give this course at least a week to dry out a bit. Pace of play was slow at 5 hours. Mainly because the two men we were paired up with were extremely slow golfers. Luckily the group behind us were walkers so we didnt get pushed. Greens are perfect here! Best part of the course. Tee boxes were in great condition and level! Fairways were green but like i said had a lot of mud and patchiness to them. Rough was basically non existent, you're either on grass in the fairway or clovers and sticks in the rough. Water was clean, saw the cart girl once. Staff was friendly and paid $50.35 for the green fee. Overall it's a good rate and a good course. People do need to start repairing their ball marks on the greens. My friend and I fixed 19 of them in 18 holes!

Late review - looking for a quick inexpensive round, so El Prado was the logical choice. Staff is always very accommodating and never have a problem getting out. Course conditions were about what I expected, consistent with the prior review.

Greens being the best part of the course. Fairways had areas which need attention, but most of the lies I had were fine. Only when you miss the fairways do you have serious condition issues. The two greenside bunkers I found had well maintained sand, good coverage.

Because I do not have unrealistic expectations, I am rarely disappointed. Enjoy playing here because it provides good solid basic golf at an affordable price.

Played Fri Nov 9th at 654, got out early because I think the santa ana winds kept people away. Decided to walk, good decision, if was a good walk, not tiring. Overall course is in winter mode, tee boxes were level but hard, fairways were thin and if you missed the fairways the rough was not too long, but the bad was the bare dirt you were hitting off, I was in several traps and the sand was decent. Greens rolled ok. Some of the pin placements were a little stupid and penal. The wind really picked up and twice the ball moved on the green, so you can guess it was not very much fun. I do like the layout, we played the whites and if you don't drive the ball 270 or more that is where you should play, it is long from the blues. Thanks to the santa ana winds I shot my worse score in over 2 years, I had 39 putts , yikes should have gone home also, LOL

Played last Saturday with Itslikeimsayin for our GK Cup Match. Lost 3 and 2, but that is another story. Let me put it this way, I make a birdie on the second hole only to have Itslikeimsayin make his own birdie -- apparently unrattled by mine. LOL. And that was how the round went :D

Greens even with the evidence of aeration a week or more past rolled rather well. Sometimes a little bumpy. Sometimes you could see the marks from aeration but they really didn't affect the ball movement much. Green speed was medium to fast. Fairways were a mix of thin lies to nice lies. Rough as I remember was a mixed bag. One hole I aimed down the right side hoping to catch a downhill run towards the hole but was caught in a burrowed animal's hole UNDER a tree. Go figure.

Pace of play was fast even with the heat. Not properly dressed for the heat was the key. Drink loads of liquids. Saw the cart gal twice.

For the conditions and the amount of play, I was impressed. Surprised this course is very busy and for the amount of play I would say the conditions are better than I expected but because of the area you would expect superior conditions. Course bones I thought were pretty decent. It's a good mix of narrow holes and holes you could spray the ball and be OK.

My thoughts are personally mixed. Being my first time playing here I like what I saw, just wished conditions were a bit better with fewer thin lies.
