Johnny's recent declaration that he might enjoy Los Serranos North as much or more than South inspired me to go check it out today. I love South, but I hadn't played North for probably 20 years and didn't remember it being anything special. I got a great GN Hot Deal rate ($35) for 12:53. When I showed up, sixpez had surprised me by meeting me there, and the starter was very accommodating to get us paired together. We teed off around 1:15 and POP was around 4:45, playing with another twosome. Conditions are really nice. The greens are about a 7.5, but I gave them a 7 because multiple times they were a little bumpy, which may have been a result of playing late in the day. They accept shots very well and are running medium fast. Aside from the occasional hop, they were smooth (if that makes sense). Fairways were good. Rough was mostly good and very lush in spots, but I also found some bare spots just off the fairway. With the exception of the 10th hole, tee boxes were really nice. No. 10 was a mess, though. I wasn't in a bunker but they looked good. I was very skeptical I'd agree with Johnny about the quality of the layout, but I was really won over by the North today. There are some really stout holes and some fun ones, too. I'd contend there's nothing on North as good as 16 & 17 on South, but I loved it and feel like I have a new course to add to my regular rotation. Played Los Serranos North Course Thursday on a hot day with GK’er ZebWelborn and mutual friend Mike. Great time. Upon returning home I immediately removed the Yellow maintenance alert as the greens are totally healed. They rolled pretty good too. Moderate speed, mostly smooth and wow, did they hold shots. We played in the afternoon so my bet is in the mornings they are faster and smoother. Fairways were mostly lush, ball sat up beautifully. Rough thin in some spots but mostly lush, especially green side. There are turf reduction spots on the course here and there which understandably where thin, bare or had wood chips on them but overall they are hardly noticeable. The tee boxes were lush and in good shape. The bunkers were well ranked with firm sand.

I played the North course for the first time back in July in a scramble tournament with GK’er Audac1ty. I enjoyed the track then but more this time around. Taking on the this layout it’s got a lot fun holes, wide fairways but stray off them and you’re likely behind trees, decently protected green complexes with some challenging bunker shots, moderately undulating greens but be careful of downhill puts from the behind the pin (then can get away from you), some doglegs, some small ponds, some OB, some elevation changes, risk/reward holes…just a good mix. I really liked the course, maybe even more than its big brother South.

Our pace of play was a little slow only because of a slow foursome in front of us. The service was excellent. Very organized and friendly people here. Can’t wait to go back.

Booked the Tuesday 11am super deal on course website for $25 with cart. What a great deal that is for this course. They sent me on my way about 10:40 all by myself and I breezed through the round easily in about 2:45 POP. Course is in pretty decent conditions...Fairways were mostly green and lush and only a handful of noticeable brown-out areas. Cant tell you much about the bunkers as I didn't hit a single one all day. Greens were very nice, rolled well and to me were medium-fast. Downhillers had some speed to them. Rough was a mixed bag, patchy and inconsistent, I found that a little stressful with some shots out of there as I really wasn't sure how the ball would react. I enjoyed myself very much today, perhaps that was due to the most perfect POP Ever and I was able to get in a nice rhythm and keep it for all 18 holes. 2 different groups let me play through and that was very nice of them. enjoyed the snack shacks they have and I look forward to getting back out here in a couple of weeks and try my luck on the South course. **not sure how this came out a 6.5, in my mind I would comfortably give this a solid 7 to 7.3**

As I left my home late this morning, I thought I was going to play River View, but as I neared the 91 freeway, I decided to head east instead of west. Heading east, I still wasn't sure of my destination, but I somehow settled that I would go to Los Serranos. In an unusual move for me, I elected to ride a cart today. Without any warm up, I went straight to the first tee of the North Course, and the starter sent me off alone, following a group of three. I hit my first shot right at 12:40PM, and by 3:40PM I was walking away from the 18th green - a great POP at 3 hours. A marshal made his presence known at least twice on the front nine, and once again on the back nine. Several water stations had good cold water, and I enjoyed cold beer at the seventh and thirteenth tees.

Golf course conditions were really quite nice. Playing from the blue tees, there were a few holes where the green, blue and white tees were all combined. Some tee boxes showed moderate divot damage (mostly filled with clean white sand), but good teeing ground was easy to find (likely the tees were left in the same position as they were for the past weekend). Tee boxes were level, with lush, closely mowed turf - no complaints. Fairways were lush and recently mowed - all of my shots from the fairway had good lies. Rough varied from thick to thin, but the many shots that I had to play out of the rough did not offer any particular problems. I found fairway bunkers three times, and greenside bunkers twice - sand was clean, raked and easy to play from. Best of all, the greens were in very good shape. They were smooth and firm, but held well hit shots. Putts rolled true at medium to fast speeds. Fortunately, there weren't too many unrepaired ball marks, but I fixed all that I found.

I'm glad I made the choice to play this course again.

Played Los Serranos Country Club North Course for the first time today as part of the Southern California Charity Golf Classic which was organized by GKer ZebWelborn and his team. They did a great job! I was joined by GKer Audac1ty and it was a blast. As far as conditions, exactly as RDDenn described in his review. Outstanding greens, lush, smooth, mid/fast and holding shots. Fairways were mostly lush with occasional thin or bare spots. But overall good. The rough around the green complexes was fantastic. Lush, thick kikuya…very challenging. The rough adjacent to the fairways was mostly thin with occasional bare spots and integrated with drought condition wood-chips in some areas. It does not look pretty but it’s appreciated since it shows with the excellent conditions of the green complexes and tees that they are putting the water to proper use. The sand in the fairways bunkers is extremely firm and dark in color yet greenside the bunkers are mostly well kept. Overall I felt the conditions were very good. As far as the layout, I liked it a lot. Challenging and fair. A little hilly yet nothing extreme. Many elevated tees and great variety of holes. Trees come into play and you get to use all the clubs in your bag. Before 2014 I had never played Los Serranos…now I've played it 3 times. I love the atmosphere there and very much enjoy the courses. Wish it was closer to me. 90+ miles. Dang.

Played in a tourney on Sunday, July 12. Pace of play was around 5 hours, about what was expected. The course is in good shape. There are areas off the fairways they are obviously not watering as much or at all and there were some drought designed areas with wood chips that were not here last time I played, but the course was decently lush. There were some bare spots in the fairways. There were also some extremely thick kikuyu rough areas that were not dry. The greens were outstanding - the best I have ever seen them. Good speed with many subtle breaks. Amazing how much more undulating the greens are when the speed is up. The service, as always, was top notch.

Played Friday June 12th, POP was good, course was in good shape, greens rolled nice. some bunkers were fairly hard, not much sand. I like both courses here so it was fun.

We teed of around 9:30 and finished around 1:15 which was very surprising to me because the course is usually pretty slow. Tees were in good shape, the three pars were a little more chewed up then the rest but nothing real bad. Fairways were in real good shape for the most part with some minor dried out areas. Rough is cut pretty short, not much longer then the fairways. Sand traps a little on the thin side but still playable. Greens are in the best shape I have ever seen them here, rolling very true with medium/fast speed. Overall course is in the best shape I have seen it in a long time. Keep it up Los Serranos.

Thought I was about due to return to Los Serranos - north, Glad I did ! The greens were fantastic ! Kudos to the maintenance staff for how well and quick the greens rolled. Fairways were also very nice. Greenside bunkers (Which I was in several) were NOT good. Very thin, no way to get that "woosh" under the ball. Rough was hit or miss.

I remember when they lost all their trees some years back. It's nice to see the trees they planted mature, gives a much better look to the course. Also noticed a lot of areas which they have removed the grass in accord with the new water reduction requirements. I suspect this will be the norm in the future at all courses ?

First off, so pace not an issue. Was back in the car just after 8:10am, just in time to fight rush hour traffic back home. Still had a great time despite lousey traffic home
