Played here today with a 7:30 time for $42 pp with cart. I have not played here for a couple years mostly because it is a little over an hours drive for me. The course is in great shape for the winter. The greens were smoth, fast , and hard. You really need to keep the ball below the hole or your short game will be tested. Fairways are pretty wide and in nice shape but did have a few thin areas and some tight lies but they played great. We finished in 4 hours and had a great day. Hope to get back there again soon.

Played Saturday, 1/2/16 at 9:00 am as a single joined by two very nice gentlemen. Felt like our group waited after each shot but still ended the round just under 4 hours and 40 minutes. I have played this course once before and couldn't remember anything bad about it and while driving to the course, I wondered why I never went back.

Tee Boxes - Mostly lush and flat with quite a bit of unfixed divots on all par 3s. However, if you don't mind backing up a foot, should have no problem finding a decent spot to play your tee shot.

Fairways - For the most part, fairways had decent coverage with lush grass. A few brown spots here and there. One hole had a rather large patch that was being repaired but it at edge of the fairway and it probably doesn't come into play.

Rough - The rough is lush with good grass coverage if you are within a couple yards of the fairway. If you are way off the fairway, you shouldn't be playing there anyway so I won't comment on how difficult it is to find your ball even with the help of a home owner who is enjoying his morning coffee in his backyard.

Bunkers - I found several greenside bunkers and they were filled with soft sand. Not happy I had to play in them but they were probably the best bunkers I've played recently.

Greens - As previous reviewers have stated, the greens were among the fastest I've played. Barely touched a 6 foot downhill putt and it went at least 5 feet past the hole. There were a large number of unfixed ball marks but it seems to be the norm anyways.

Overall, I would recommend and wouldn't hesitate to come back. If you get email specials from Donovan Daily, it is definitely worth the promotional rate.

Played today (11/18/15) and had a 10:45 am tee time. Let me begin by saying that if you haven't played here in a while, you must get out soon.
The fairways were beautiful, and cut pretty low which which enabled plenty of roll off the tee shot. Tee boxes showed normal wear and tear, but were flat. The greens were spectacular. I'm not sure where they they'd be on a stimp meter, but they were quick and rolled true. They were a little firm, so make sure and allow for some roll out on approach shots. The rough was decent which allowed you to be able to find you're ball, and didn't penalize you too much. Even the lakes were crystal clear.
The staff in the pro shop was very friendly as was the starter. If there is a downside, we did not see the drink cart on the course, although there is cold water on the course.
As mentioned earlier, do yourself a favor and play this beauty.

Hey fellow golfers, I played Sierra Lakes yesterday, Sun Nov 1st. If you guys follow my reviews you know I'm usually pretty hard to please. Well, I was pleased with the course today. If you like quick greens & level tee boxes & solid fairways & firm bunkers, then head on out to Sierra Lakes before some guy complains that the greens are too fast and needs to be slower. I've been playing here since they opened & I can't remember the greens running this good. The whole course is in great shape. I hope it stays like this. The course is pretty straightforward and not much trouble if you play the tight holes like 10 & 14 correctly. There is some elevation but not enough for you to think about. Just go have fun & keep the ball below the hole. Until next time.

Played early afternoon, Monday 10/19, superb course conditions! 9/10, with the exception of the 2nd green that had punch marks and a bit of sand on top.
It has been awhile, since I have played out of proper rough and it showed, about 2", and at least a few yards from the fairways, of thick dense rough, that I found hard to get my club on the ball, 9/10.
fairways were well covered and full, non repaired divots were the only negative, I take a short walk to replace my divots, hope you do too, 9/10.
Greens were in excellent shape and on the quick side, except #2, 9/10.
Bunkers had plenty of clean sand, 9/10.
T's were great, 9/10.
My cart was weak, parking break didn't work properly (annoying) and do not have GPS. The second cart, after 16 holes, worked fine. Boulders mark the yardage on the fairways which, works OK.
Pace of play was excellent, until the 10th hole, our threesome went around a very slow foursome on 11 and 12, pace was great again after that. After the round, I asked if we
could go back out and complete 11-12, because we had skipped.
He hesitated! Wow, this would have been a first to be denied to finish.
I explained better, that we went around a slow foursome. He gave the OK and narrowly escaped a very poor customer service review.
Recommended.

First time here at Sierra Lakes on a Friday morning and hopefully won't be the last, had a great time. Last review was very accurate, they keep this place in tip top condition, tee to green. Other than #2, greens were rolling true and very quick today, many putts rolled well by the hole. Several spike marks and unrepaired ball marks to navigate, otherwise they could have been the best greens I've played in quite a while... Yes, that good. Fairways full, nice to play off, vey wide and forgiving. Green complexes were the defense, easy to short side or lose a stroke missing left or right. Bunkers excellent. Shame that this course is a long drive. Move it to the OC and it would be an easy C note. I paid $42 with cart, pop was 4:15. Recommended.

Sorry a couple days late... Played 10-18-15. Got a GN Hot Deal for $33 at 12:30 pm. When I arrived there was a huge group just getting organized so I didn't tee off til close to 1pm. I got paired with a very nice couple. The course was very good shape. The tee boxes were in need of mowing but they were level and clean. The fairways were beautifully green. There were plenty of unrepaired divots which disappointed me really just because this is one of the few courses i've seen with divot mix bottles sitting in the middle of the fairways on a few holes. I was in only one fairway bunker. It was very clean and fluffy. Only a couple of greens weren't fully healed. The rest were smooth but speed varied from green to green. The only downside was POP was close to 5.5 hours. I'm usually happy to be out there all day long but the weather turned from 85 to cold & windy near dark. I really like the course. I'll happily play it again.

Course was in great shape, tee boxes were decent with some unfilled divots but not real bad. Fairways were lush (especially for being drought conditions) rolled real well with some nice lies, a few unfilled divots - Guys those those plastic bottles are to be used, No the grounds crew is not gonna follow you to fill them in, we filled in our share.

Rough was not extra long but it was hard finding the ball if it settled in and hard to hit out. greens were lush, held well hit shots, firm enough that low fliers rolled off, too many ball marks on some hole, I fixed at least 4 every hole - C'mon people!. The bunkers had decent sand.

This is the only course I have encountered so far this year that know how to set pins. Most places leave a mound or raised grass around the hole which causes lip outs, or stop 1-2 rolls short of going in. Here they took the time to tamp it down, great job ground crew. I passed this on to front desk and to GM who came over to visit us (personal friend of one of our 4some).

Customer service was great, marshals came around several timed to keep tabs on POP, we finished in just over 4 hrs, cart girl came around at least 4 times. $42 for seniors was a nice rate.

Keep it in the short stuff!

We played Sierra Lakes on 9/27/15 with an 11:38 tee time. Aeration had been done on 8/30/15 and 8/31/15 and the greens were fully healed. However, there were lots of unrepaired ball marks, which is typical for this course. The greens however, were receptive and rolled medium fast and pretty smooth. Tee boxes were very good and level. Fairways were ok, but there were many unrepaired divots. Rough was quite good, but not too penal. Bunkers were also very good with plenty of sand. I was surprised that there weren't too many players on this Sunday afternoon. In fact, we played as a twosome. There was no drink cart on this Sunday. But, the pro shop and snack bar staff were friendly as always. We always enjoy playing Sierra Lakes and will be back soon!
