Course is in its usual condition for this time of year. Fairway's mostly green and somewhat lush. Thin areas mixed through out. I had decent lies the whole round.
Greens looked great and were receptive, but the roll was not that great. The Poana was in bloom which caused many hops & bounces along the line. No sign of the claimed aeration? So, they haven't done that yet.
Traps were even worse then they have been for the last few years. A few on the back side have been replaced with new sand, but most were ROCK hard sand & gravel.
They have been doing some work on the course. Taken out the trees on the left side of the 3rd fairway. Filled in the traps in the left side landing area of #6 fairway. That really took the teeth out of that T shot.
Over all the course is good shape and fun to play. They typically have some of the best greens in SD. That should return soon?

Played Wednesday 12/9 at noon for $25. Greens were real good but could be faster, but rolled nice. That's kind of where the positives ran out. The fairways are in the worst shape I have ever seen them. Very thin in most places even in the rough. Traps have no sand in 90% of them, just loose dirt, very hard to play out of them. Played here about a month ago and the course was much better, not great, but better. Not sure why it is worse now but I won'the be coming backtill 494I hear it has improved. Owners must be hurting as they did not punch the greens this fall, beverage cart has been broken for months, and the ball collecting machine is broken so the guy_has to collect them with a rake. This is a shame as I have always liked this track

every time here the course gets better--the greens are really well maintained with pin placements today that required more shot placement to avoid 3 putts which made for a more challenging round some traps were hard sand others were ok
mostly good lies in the fairway but spotty on the fringes no real rough good conditions around the greens pop 415
good customer service as always the course is a hidden treasure get out there before everyone finds out

I drove down to play it looking for something new and exciting.....I got a dry little winder through the houses. Ran into some guys that said you can play it much faster than the Vineyard...if that is important to ya. Quick greens that did roll well and were receptive to well struck shots. Fairways in OK shape with fairly generous landing areas for a tight little course. It's just 6500 from the blue so watch what ya hit off the tees. Bunkers sucked....most were very hard with dirt in them rather than nice sand. Rough ate balls well so watch if offline! With the coming rains I'd expect an improvement. I wouldn't go back there ....only because there are so many better courses closer. Worth the effort after it greens up a bit if you're in the mood for something different and cheap.

Got off early, with Rudyclub and Cassiusclay. POP was good, tee boxes good, fairways always had a good lie with a little bit of run out, minimal rough, bunkers variable from so-so to not so good (a couple full of rocks), greens were real nice. Good company, good price and the course was nice, plus I was home by 11 . . . what else would ya want?

Played 10-22-15 early morning as a single in a little under 2 hours for $28 including cart. Tee boxes were in just OK shape a little thin and a little un-level. Fairways were thin with some large bare spots but still decent to hit from. Rough is very thin with more bare spots than grass. Sandtraps did not look goodwith a lot of small rocks in them. Greens were in real nice shape, very soft, rolling medium speed and smooth.

Played today, Sunday, used underpar deal that was getting ready to expire, I think it was $26. It was hot and we wanted to see our poor Chargers get their butts kicked so we teed off at 2pm and there was nobody there, so we cruised right thru, POP 3.5hrs.

I'm maybe biased for this course cuz I just love the layout and the setting. No parallel fairways and no 2 holes alike. They have cut water usage down big time, which is actually fine by me. They are still just focusing on the teeboxes, landing areas and greens. Teeboxes were just fine, level and lush. no problems, they have added some new back tee boxes, but weren't using them today. The new ones are cool, add a few hundred yards to the overall length and make it interesting. Fairways are real dry, lots of roll, but I usually had great lies, they seem to be focused on the landing areas that they are maintaining, so it seemed fine to me. I never had a bad lie in the fairway. Rough pretty much non existant. The greens were dang good! Held shots very well and putted smooth. Can't complain at all about the greens. Sand traps seemed just fine as well, I was in one and it was nice.

All in all, get on out there, I think the guy we played with paid only $18, which is great for a Sunday. Always a good value and they have rolling rock, PBR and Keystones for $2. Love a course that doesn't rape you for beers.

Sorry for the late review, played sept. 5, Saturday. They continue to let most everything stay dormant during this drought. The Teeboxes were just ok, they were level but patchy grass. The fairways are really dried out and brown right now, but managed to hit a lot of them and seemed to usually have a good lie. Sand traps are bad, avoid at all cost, hard pan with rocks. Rough was pretty much non existent, a little taller than fairway, but still brown and not penal. The greens were fantastic, holding shots very well and putted true and smooth. Worth the green fee, we had a underpar deal for like $28 which was great. Service fantastic in the pro shop, no beverage cart, oh well. POP right at 4 hours, not bad for a weekend at all.

Played this morning to beat the rain. Went out on time, played in right at 4 hours never waiting. The course was in very playable condition, especially considering the rain we got on Saturday. There was standing water in a few bunkers, but no biggie. A few bare to thin spots here and there but never got a bad lie. Greens were in very good condition, a bit slower than I like, but rolling true and excepting shots like they should. Staff were professional and friendly, and the overall experience was fun . . . and THAT'S what it's all about!

. . . no you can't really walk this course as it winds through houses (that only come into play if you really, really miss your target) and canyons.

Tight course overall and as I said before plays a bit shorter than the yardage.
