7/25 from the blues 6417 71.3 using Under Par $49 2some on a mostly cloudy(thankfully) am following 2 2somes and a 4some with a little over 4hr POP which felt slower but was really ok. Course is showing the effects of heat and limited water. Fairways are at least 60% brown often with thin cover--where there is green grass there was ample cushion and excellent lies. Rough along fairways was inconsistent with limited areas of 1-2 inches, mostly dry and thin and some bare spots. Areas closer to greens have well maintained grass on the approach, about a 6 foot apron around the greens and well established rough of 1-3 inches. In all fairness even with the dry conditions and playing the ball down I only had 1 or 2 sketchy lies from the fairway. Greens were soft medium speed rolled well but slower than they looked--many had bare areas along edges which never really came into play with todays pin placements. Some bunkers were thin with hard pan underneath but most look to have been renovated some with fine sand and some with the heavier variety that really shows deep footprints and requires proper raking to keep from leaving massive ridges. Also this type of sand requires daily grooming which may encourage patrons to actually clean up after themselves. Tees were mixed--some quite thin some with ok cover but rather hard--all quite level. Customer service more matter of fact--check in-- take any cart in the line up and go when you are ready. Always have liked the layout

I had a 6am tee time (first time), but based on past experience I knew I needed to get there early as "members" tee off before the shop even opens. When a few "members" arrived and announced they were getting ready to go, we got the OK from the cart guy to tee and pay when we finish, which we did. Good thing because as were approaching our tee shots on #18, we heard the shop direct players to "their assigned holes". This was at 7:50, so we just finished under the wire. So I'm glad we played quickly and were able to avoid this mini shotgun. (We finished in 2 hours 10 min, which is decent for our twosome - my bride and I) The greens were decent, but we had no cut greens so they were on the slow side. Some greenside bunkers were OK, some were like mud?. The fairways were NOT good and the rough even worse. I guess they need water? Just overall scruffy in appearance. I really like this course, so I hope it's deterioration is due to the drought and can be brought back to life in the future. Still, with everything, had a wonderful time and enjoyed the quick early round at a fun course.

Played 6/25 @ 11:28 w/GKrs Bsparks and Tobster. I'm not big on giving poor reviews on any course, but feel I must be honest in my assessment, good/bad/indifferent...Yes, I know SoCal is still in a drought and water is tight, but having played this course several times before, and after playing yesterday...we were a little disappointed by the conditions overall. Fairways were sketchy (browned out more than usual, some divot damage, dry & hard to hit off of). Areas leading up to greens weren't too bad. The greens were in various stages of recovery from past aeration, but overall puttable (medium speed/slightly bumpy); One green had 2 gopher traps into it, and Hole 17, Par 3, the whole middle section was marked as GUR which are firsts for me. Bunkers weren't horrible...60/40; some thick/fluffy and others thin/crusty. Special mention to Hole 4 dog leg left,, fairway bunkers on the left just let go, no sand, and two of them halfway back-filled with dirt...either fill them in and level them off or ??? No cart lady at all on a warm Saturday. Driving range off of mats. Nice practice putting green. Chipping area needed a little attention/overgrown. Upon arrival at the gate, we entered the #Code that was provided on the call box... Guess what? It didn't work... thankfully a resident provided us access and advised us the Code had been changed...Umm would've been nice for the course to have updated the sign on the call box dontcha think?!! Pace of play was good, course wasn't overly crowded. I truly hope this course hangs in there and doesn't succumb to giving in and leaving residents who paid for golf course properties holding the bag as seems the trend these days with so many golf propertys closing down completely. This is a course worth keeping and I hope it sees some continued attention/improvements in the future. Just this golfin gals humble opinion.

Someone forgot to mention they punched this week. Played foursome Sunday 5/29. Would have been ABSOLUTELY AWESOME if they had put the nice White sand on the greens from punching, IN THE BUNKERS..... We found out about the punched greens on approach shots from the sand clouds on the 1st green. Just swell. "$35" is Eagle Crest language for "gotcha". 10:26 AM 5/30/2016, They just posted "punched"

Greens looked great and were receptive, but the roll was not that great. The Poana was in bloom which caused many hops & bounces along the line. No sign of the claimed aeration? So, they haven't done that yet.
Traps were even worse then they have been for the last few years. A few on the back side have been replaced with new sand, but most were ROCK hard sand & gravel.
They have been doing some work on the course. Taken out the trees on the left side of the 3rd fairway. Filled in the traps in the left side landing area of #6 fairway. That really took the teeth out of that T shot.
Over all the course is good shape and fun to play. They typically have some of the best greens in SD. That should return soon?

The fairways are in the worst shape I have ever seen them. Very thin in most places even in the rough. Traps have no sand in 90% of them, just loose dirt, very hard to play out of them. Played here about a month ago and the course was much better, not great, but better. Not sure why it is worse now but I won'the be coming backtill 494I hear it has improved. Owners must be hurting as they did not punch the greens this fall, beverage cart has been broken for months, and the ball collecting machine is broken so the guy_has to collect them with a rake. This is a shame as I have always liked this track

every time here the course gets better--the greens are really well maintained with pin placements today that required more shot placement to avoid 3 putts which made for a more challenging round some traps were hard sand others were ok
mostly good lies in the fairway but spotty on the fringes no real rough good conditions around the greens pop 415
good customer service as always the course is a hidden treasure get out there before everyone finds out

I drove down to play it looking for something new and exciting.....I got a dry little winder through the houses. Ran into some guys that said you can play it much faster than the Vineyard...if that is important to ya. Quick greens that did roll well and were receptive to well struck shots. Fairways in OK shape with fairly generous landing areas for a tight little course. It's just 6500 from the blue so watch what ya hit off the tees. Bunkers sucked....most were very hard with dirt in them rather than nice sand. Rough ate balls well so watch if offline! With the coming rains I'd expect an improvement. I wouldn't go back there ....only because there are so many better courses closer. Worth the effort after it greens up a bit if you're in the mood for something different and cheap.
