I played Eagle Crest last weekend and echo the comments from the previous reviewer. The greens were good for the most part but the rest of the course left a lot to be desired. Although there were several fairways that were decent, it seemed as if they cut the grass around the bunkers too much leaving practically just dirt on several of the holes. From a distance, it was sometimes hard to distinguish bunkers from fairways or rough since it just looked all brown. Additionally, the bunkers were very inconsistent from hole to hole. They ranged from newer sand with decent coverage to crusty dirt/sand with thin coverage. The layout of this course is fun with some interesting holes but it looks like they are cutting back on maintenance/watering. I played for $25 but even at that rate, I think it will be awhile until I play again.

I knew based on reviewers I trust (TG) what I should expect going in... Gripes: Fairways have dirt in fairway, lots of bare spots, traps varied from mud-dirt-chrunchy sand-soft sand- hole to hole so it did provide quite the challenge. Good: most of the greens left me rather impressed by their roll and quality... Overall: I paid $20 and played because I have a tournament there soon. Otherwise I doubt I would have made the trip. This is a course where you can use all the clubs in your bag which is rare. Sadly, with the lack of rain and the hot summer, the course is penal where it shouldnt be (fairway). Ive said it before... Until courses stop watering where they shouldnt, the rest of the course will suffer. Staff was uber friendly and my overall feeling was that of enjoyment.

Played today @11:12am as a twosome. Finished in 5hrs as we had to wait on every hole. Course seems to be coming around nicely as most of the fairway landing areas are more green than brown. Seems if you keep your shots on intended landing areas, chances are your ball will be sitting on green grass. But if you go offline, it's mostly dirt. Greens were good with the exception of few holes with excessive badly fixed ball marks.
We were a bit hesitant to play this course today with mostly negative recent reviews but we ended up enjoying the day with mostly good playing conditions. It still isn't pleasing to the eye with many dirt/brown areas but I would say the course is now definitely "playable".

First experience here, getting out with an weekday 7am start;

First experience here, getting out with an weekday 7am start;
- Holes 1-9 pretty much water saturated everywhere. Putts were slow.
Fairways were as thin as thin can get. Excessive barren wasteland in numberous areas just outside of fairways.
Bunkers/traps were ridiculous being a 50/50 mix of sand and mud. Then with them being saturated, made it a triple hazard.
All in all, course layout provided various shot alternatives from hole to hole. Good mix of straight and narrow, dog-legs in both directions, along with sand/mud traps everywhere, which in my mind supports a very challenging round.
This course had to have more bunkers/traps then any course I've ever played.
If this place had grass, both on & off fairways, fixed up a couple greens, and got their water areas cleaned up and waterfall working, it could easily be a pristine place to play.

Played at 10:50am tee time Saturday. First time at this course. Had a good deal with underpar and had seen recent reviews, so expectations were properly set.

Played at 10:50am tee time Saturday. First time at this course. Had a good deal with underpar and had seen recent reviews, so expectations were properly set.

Course is lacking a lot of things IMHO. Driving range is in serious need of new mats...they were some of the worst I have seen.

Fairways - yikes!....dirt, spots of grass, mostly burned out and thin.....that was my impression of most of the holes, a few were better.

Rough - mostly dirt hills with some grass...lots of hardpan.

Greens - best part of the course, they held shots...pretty slow on the front but picked up a little afternoon speed.

Bunkers - only was in 1 and it was very good. I saw players in others and some were a mixed bag of wet and thin and others were fluffy.

Carts - no gps, no cooler

Facilities - no restrooms on course, a couple of porta-potties. not a club house you wanna hang out afterwards really.

probably a 1 and done visit for us. But for under $20 each...it was worth the look.

rstang06(hubby) and I played here yesterday 8/31 off an Underpar.com coupon deal. I called 8/30, and booked a tee time where they could get us out with another twosome at 10:16 (our coupon had a 1000 start or later restriction), so that worked for us. We arrived and they did not have us on the roster; BUT went out of their way to get us out and so much so, that as we were walking out with our buckets of practice balls the Starter said he could get us out right then and there with another twosome (if we were ready and willing)...otherwise it was uncertain as to when we'd get out due to the solid bookings of 3 and 4's. So we set the practice balls down, got in our cart, and awaaaaaaay we went. Maybe I should do that more often as I was nailing them down the middle pretty good ;) so on to the review STAFF: EXCEPTIONAL as always, from the check in to the Starter to the Cart Lady (who made her rounds quite frequently) Reasonable prices off the cart and $2.00 beers all day...thought of a couple GKers that would've like that ;) TEE BOXES: Good to Great; mostly level, green, and not too divoted out. GREENS: WONDERFUL, as they typically are; however, there were the typical unrepaired/poorly repaired ball marks, and dirt clods/rocks from the bunkers. Rolled out true, at medium speed - nothing ran fast all day, quite consistent. Subtle breaks. Area up to the greens also maintained quite well; green; kukulia grass. BUNKERS: Very inconsistent throughout the whole course. 50% moist dirt/thin/clay bottom, and even on the same fairway 50% Soft/Thick/Fluffy sand. Typical as well were the unraked bunkers. Sigh! FAIRWAYS: Yes, as with prior reviews, the course is playing it smart and opted to focus what little water is available on their tee boxes and the greens areas. Fairways are all but pretty browned out, still playable for the most part, but will roll out and off into the 'rough' if you err on the wrong side of the slope... ROUGH: Very thin as well, again due to water rationing and the course focusing on play-ability off the tee box and up onto the green. PRACTICE Area: Driving range = older mats, but today practice was off grass in front of the mats. Practice Chipping area is located behind the Driving range. Practice green is very nice as well. Quaint Pro Shop/Snack area with a large outdoor seating area which used to be covered, overlooks 18th tee. Ball washing stations on each hole, although one on 10th tee box still broken. Marshal was present and pleasant. A few water stations throughout. Bathroom facilities are outhouse type and I think there are only two on the course? We still enjoy playing this local course and will go back, but probably later when the Fall temps and morning moisture (or rain) can help the course recover. Course is doing great with what they have. C'mon Rain! :)

Have not played here since 2007 . What happened ? The greens were excellent, rolled true and received shots well, but the fairways were the worst I have played anywhere for as long as I can remember. To say they were thin would be kind. Almost impossible to find a actual turf on them. Same with the rough ? I dont remember any such issues with the course in the past?

I really enjoy this course and despite the poor fairways/rough, had a great time. $28 w/cart (senior rate) is a bargin and the staff was great. First off - we finished in under 2 1/2 hours so pace was never an issue. Sure hope they figure things out and get the fairways back to "normal"

played saturday 8/16 and enjoyed it. They are cutting back on the water usage and have been forced to only water and maintain areas where you are supposed to be hitting from. Tee boxes were in about the best shape I have ever seen them out there. very level and lush. Greens were also about the best I have ever seen them out there. In general they were all very nice, even the number 1 green, which is usually a mess. They have let most areas from tee to the fairway die off due to the drought, but I didn't notice it at all. They have cut back the water on the fairways quite a bit as well, but I always had good lies even though the grass was a little on the dry side. Got a great deal from underpar for $54 for a twosome and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the round. It was rather warm and humid, but POP was just under 4 hours for a Saturday and didn't have to wait too many shots at all. Staff was very friendly and cart girl was awesome as well, very attentive and on top of things.

Played here on 6/7/14 with GK member bapr5092. Have to start off by saying that we had a 2pm tee-time and pace of play was roughly 3 hours! Almost unheard of on a Saturday but I will gladly accept it. On to the review:

Tee-boxes:
OK condition. Lots of broken tees on the par 3 holes. They offer the standard Blue-White-Red so the conditions on each tee-box were a little more chewed up. Didn't have that much trouble finding level ground.

Fairway:
Dry but then again where are they not. Plenty of level lies however so no complaints here. Found almost no divots which was very nice.

Rough:
Pretty consistent throughout however the first 3 holes have extra penalizing rough around the fairways. This isn't Torrey South so there is always ways to hit out.

Bunkers:
Inconsistent. All fairway bunkers had hard-pan dirt or wet dirt. Some greenside bunkers had awesome white fluffy sand yet others had the fairway bunker style "sand". Lots of rakes were in the bunkers as well.

Greens:
Certainly the highlight of the round. Green with true roll. Not overly quick and minimal divots. This made for a great round.

ETC:
Staff was friendly. Cart girl came around once but did let us know when she was leaving since course was empty. Lack of water on the course was disappointing since it was warm all day. Overall round was very enjoyable I mean who doesn't love an empty golf course. Layout is always fun and the deals they offer during the week simply can't be beat.
