Played Eagle Crest on Sunday, 4/26 with fellow GKers Sal and John. We paid $52 on Golfnow for a 7:52 tee time. Strangely enough, the course was basically empty. It was a nice day, and the condition of the course was solid, so I'm wondering if the little bit of rain we got on Saturday scared some people away.

I really like the layout at Eagle Crest. I think you get a good variety of holes, even though I don't think any of it is particularly spectacular.

We played in about 3 hours and 15 minutes as a threesome, and none of us really set the world on fire, so POP is definitely not an issue out here. I seem to play fast every time I tee it up here, even though there isn't a marshal out there. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I'd say the course is in pretty good shape right now. The greens are definitely the highlight of the course as they were pure and rolled great. One thing I did notice is that they were pretty soft, probably because of the rain, and held shots almost too well (you'd even make small ball marks with pitch and chip shots). I'm guessing that the later you play the worse off you are as there would be a decent amount of foot prints/spike marks.

I wouldn't describe the conditions of the tees or fairways lush and great by any means, but I never found a bad lie on either, so something in the 6 out of 10 range seems reasonable.

I kind of lump Eagle Crest in with The Vineyard, Mt. Woodson and Carmel Mountain Ranch as North County San Diego courses that are really enjoyable to play, solid tracks, and you can play for about $50 on the weekend.

Talked to the dude in the shop and they are going to start punching the greens on May 4th, so get out and play before then for arguably the best putting greens in North County.
