For $33 w/ cart, it's a good deal right now. Fairways have greened up and are mostly in good shape with a few dry areas mixed in.
Greens were very good to great. Blooming poana, caused a putt here and there to wonder, but ran mostly true with a medium pace. Receptive to very well struck shots, but mostly ran a little.
Bunkers are horrible. Hardpan & full of rocks. Very much hazards that you want to avoid. Over all in decent shape and worth any deals you can find. No cart girl.

Played 2-8-18. First time at this course. Started bad when I arrived at the entrance to find I needed a code to open the gate. Got lucky and was behind a delivery truck so I followed him in. Then there are no signs to direct you to the course so I drove around and finally called to find out how to get there. I pull up and the steps to the pro shop are falling apart. Not a good first impression. I check in and since it is a golf shop I need receipts for all my expenses. When I ask for it he has already crumpled it up and thrown it away. More negative points. Range is OK but matts for the day. They were very soft so pleasant to hit off.
The course is pretty beat up. Lots of brown and even patchy where its green. Other areas were very nice. Some bunkers were packed mud and others were soft nice sand.
The greens make this place worth the price. Soft enough to hold well and fast and true. Downhill putts are scary and you must be aggressive uphill. Some really nice holes and some average holes. Mostly narrow off the tee so a bit of a challenge. Overall a course I might play if in the area but would not go out of my way to play here again.

Fairway's mostly green & somewhat lush. Cut tight with a few browned out areas mixed in.
Greens were mostly in good to great shape. But most also had some troubled spots some where on them. Some very small others a little larger. Mostly in very good condition. Receptive, but slow at a little below medium. Traps in very poor shape. They had scalped the T boxes and alternate T's were in place. Very much worth the $35 fees.

Played on an October Sunday. No rain recently, and the course needs rain to look nice. They can’t irrigate enough to keep the brown out and greens in good shape. But, for $35 with a hot dog, it’s definitely worth the green fee.
Fairways and greens were fine. The bunkers need something other than dirt in them, and a little tlc to repair the edges. Just a bit too far off the beaten path to generate the necessary revenue for the necessary maintenance. The good news, POP was spectacular (finished in 3 hrs, even with a struggling Junior golfer with me), and the gent in the clubhouse was friendly.

Played on Sunday 10:40am on an Underpar deal. Beautiful day, and we spent most of the day alone with nature as a 2some.

The course was in pretty good shape as far as fairways and greens. Hard to find any ball marks! Even so, the greens were a little slow, needed a fresh mow.

Even with a good driving day, I did find some bare patches, and the rough was pretty shaggy and patchy...

Bunkers were decently maintained though dark, dirty sand, I didn't have the pleasure of playing them...

Definitely worth the discount rate, I was pleasantly surprised. The slope rating is a little off, although challenging, not 133 by a long shot. My handicap got a nice bump from a good day.

Played here on 2/26 with GK member molebio on a GolfNow deal at 7:04am. Arrived here pretty early and gate system to enter has been updated and it was a mess to figure out. Thankfully the starter/pro shop attendant was right behind us and got us in. He was the only employee at the shop and allowed us to get out 30 minutes early since the tee-sheet was plenty open. I have played here at least a dozen times and I have mixed feelings about Eagle Crest. This place has the layout and potential to be a standout course in every way (similar to Carlton Oaks). Every part of this property is a revamp away from being amazing, but enough bashing and on to the review. Tee boxes: Good condition overall. A few of them were chewed up and tough to drive the tee in, however nothing that took away from the round. Fairway: The highlight of the round in my opinion. Green after the rain. Good lies overall and a fair amount of run on drives. Rough: The areas where rough is present definitely had teeth, however there are fare more areas either under repair or simply not cared for (hole 3 really calls out to me). Bunkers: Terrible! I read the last review and saw they are under repair but this is insane. They are essentially holes in the ground with natural dirt. Nothing close to sand in any bunker on the course. Greens: Great condition. It's been raining like crazy lately and they were just the right softness and speed. Nice green color, only limited marks and great size. ETC: Carts lacked windshields and were sorely needed. Staff was friendly but there was no cart girl out today. Course seems to have suffered major damage from the storms (tree down at 18th tee box). A renovation or infusion of capital would make this the best course in Escondido.

Been awhile since I've been out to Eagle Crest. Got deal on their website for Sunday, super bowl sunday, $43 and included a hot dog and a beer. Good deal for a Sunday. Teed off at 9:40, finished in 4.5 hrs. We didn't wait for anyone, but the buddies I played with that day are still working on their games and they are a little on the slow side, no biggie, pace was fine for me.

The course is in ok shape, very playable. They've done a lot of work and took out some bunkers, so those areas are a work in progress. Greens were good, definitely the highlight of the course. Ran medium speed, but were smooth and very receptive. Lots of recent rain probably made them soft. Teeboxes were just fine, pretty level. They had the tips closed and moved the blues up to where the whites normally would be. The rough was either non existent, they did some turf reduction last year, or it was brutal long and thick. Fairways were in pretty good shape at the proper landing areas. Bunkers were awful, but we've had so much rain, it's tough to keep up.

All things considered, I'd go ahead and get out there, especially with a good deal. They seem to be working on the course and hopefully that will continue, should be getting in better shape within the next few weeks. Oh, beware, the poison oak and ivy are thriving from the recent rains, stay out of the environmental stuff.

Played Eagle Crest on 9/25/2016. I have played here many times over the past 15 years, I have always enjoyed the layout. The conditions are abysmal right now. the course is not playable in my opinion, not sure why they are even open. Our group walked off after 9 holes as well as the group in front of us did. There is hardly any grass anywhere on the course, where there is grass it is very sparse and spotty. Many areas that used to have grass are now completely bare dirt. The only redeeming factor is the greens were good but very, very slow and hard. I hope they can somehow turn this place around, but I won't be playing it again in the condition it is in now.

9/19 underpar $49 2some on a warmish am following a 2some with occasional waiting then falling back looking for wayward shots or other struggles which have infected our games recently with a POP just under 4hrs.
According to the pro shop staff new irrigation lines have been installed and regular watering has resumed as of a week ago on the front and 3 days on the back--so this review relates to conditions as of now. Fairways are still quite dry with thin coverage leaving tight lies. No rough to speak of --more grass around and in front of the greens.
Bunkers varied from heavy thick deep sand to dry thin over hard pan all of which could have used a good grooming.
Tees mostly level but mostly dry with dormant/dead grass.
Greens were good to ok toward the center areas but the outer 3-6 feet often had some bare spots that appear to be healing. Lot of ball marks mostly poorly repaired or left for someone else to fix.--maybe thats what slowed us down--(I think when the majority of the course is in poor condition players become more negligent overall) Greens held fairly well rolled medium to medium fast and where the pins were today pretty smooth around the hole.
Good customer service course provided ample bottled water from the club house and we got a hearty welcome for coming out to play. Staff is optimistic that with the return of adequate water conditions will once again warrant increased patronage.
Always have enjoyed the layout-- has a very rural feel even being surrounded by houses and the holes have enough variety to make for and enjoyable outing.
Myself I will give it about a month or 2 to make progress toward full recovery.
