Played 6/25 for the first time in over 10 years. I wanted to see first hand if the improvements advertised are taking hold. First off, it was worth the $55 green fee. Layout is nice with some shots requiring thought and proper club selection. Greens in pretty good shape, albeit a little slow on the role. Fairways a solid 7 of 10 with some being in better shape than others. Sand traps are in bad shape and should be called dirt traps as opposed to Sand Traps. 3.5 hour round, courteous staff and clean carts with GPS. All and all not bad for $55 and I can tell they are making efforts to improve which are paying off. Put a little sand in the traps and I will come back.

Played today at 1/18/26 Tee Time was 11:15 AM. We were loading our gear back Into the car at 4:35. Poor course conditions really compounds the length of the round. 5 plus hours is absolutely insane. Most fairway grass was unmown. The rough was a mix of wild growing weeds and grass that has not seen a mower in weeks. The greens were firm and would not hold any shots, Super bumpy and they seemed like they were not cut is several days. Very shaggy and strange. I don’t think they know what a green roller is….they could use some rolling and verti cutting to improve putting conditions. Based on our visit today we won’t ever be back.
Better options out there. Way over priced and needs major improvements. Sad situation.

Played at noon on Saturday. I had heard from fellow golfers that JC Golf had put a lot of money into this course, and it was a much better value than its Eagle Crest days. I don't think I've played this course in 15 years, its condition as Eagle Crest had left a bad taste in my mouth.

Green fees were $79, which included the cart. No range, it looks like they would need to put tall fencing up to get the old range area open again. Fairway and rough conditions were pretty bare, a lot of brown and dirt areas. The greens were extremely soft and brutally slow (apparently they were punched a few weeks ago). I had an 80 foot putt in the 15th hole which may be the hardest I've ever hit a putt, and yet still came up 15 feet short. Some sand in the bunkers, but not much, maybe an inch worth.

No water on the course, but there was both a water cart and a small beverage cart that came around a couple of times. It was much needed, as it was still fairly warm in mid-October. Staff was friendly and polite. Apparently there was a tournament in the morning that slowed play down, and multiple times we drove up to a tee box with the group ahead of us still waiting to tee off. We ended up having a 5hr 10 min round.

I'll probably wait another year or so until I return. It's nice to see a course on the rebound, but it's not quite to the level where I want to spend more money.

Can't remember when I was able to play 3times in one week! Played Dos Osos this morning, Sunday, 7:20am tee time. Customer service as always is great here. No frills proshop but the guys working the counter this morning were awesome, very friendly. Tried to get us to buy the JC card, but it's difficult for me to justify as most of the courses are an hour+ to the north of me. It is a good value, though. We were charged $79 to ride. I'd say it's still a little overpriced for the conditions but work continues to get done and they're trying very hard to bring this course back to its luster. White tees were fairly level, but coverage was not good. Lots of dirt and different mixes of grass/weeds/clover. Not a huge deal breaker, but just made you take some extra time to look for a good stance. Fairways are showing some signs of life in most proper landing areas, but tons of horrible areas, as well. We played the ball down, but I highly recommend lift clean and place in the fairways right now. Rough was a similar situation as the fairways. Showing some signs of promise, but I'd say over half the rough is dirt/weeds/clover. Mixed bag of what kind of lie you might get. It could be anywere from a perfect lie to absolutely deplorable. I didn't find any bunkers, but they looked ok. A few of them looked wet and had some standing water from sprinklers, but most of the sand looked fluffy and fairly new. Greens are still healing from aeration a couple weeks ago. Very bumpy and shaggy on the front. Super slow!!! Pretty frustrating on the front nine for sure. But they got better as you played through the back nine. 16, 17 and 18 greens were actually pretty good, on the verge of being very good. This will be a true test if all the work on the course will pay off. These greens should all be in great shape in another 3-4 weeks. I will be anxious to get back out there next month to see. POP right at 4hrs. Marshall doing a great job keeping pace going. I've always loved this course, played Eagle Crest before any homes were even built. It's just a super fun layout. No parallel fairways, elevation changes, water features, etc. It's got great bones, now let's see if JC Resorts can bring it back. Easy recommend.

JC Golf is definitely putting some work into this place. But it is still a struggle in many places. The greens are nice, but are a bit shaggy and quite slow. Playable.

Fairways and rough is a challenge to get grass growing everywhere. Play it up or you'll get some nasty spots. I lost two balls in the fairway, things just seem to disappear at times. It's OK though, I was playing some ugly yellow balls that I don't mind losing.

Sand was nice. Tee boxes were decent - good spots, bad spots.

The range is still there, but no longer in use? Kind of surprising, I thought ranges were decent money makers. Couple of poor mats and range nets to get a few swings in before. Hopefully all the money is going into the course now, and the range will be brought back to life later.

I like the layout for a residential neighborhood course. While it does go through housing, the houses for the most part are far enough away and raised above the course - so it doesn't feel too close. If I lived closer, I wouldn't mind going here for a cheap fun round.

For now, just be warned that it is a work in progress. I like what JC is doing here, looking forward to coming back and seeing progress.

Our Men's club was kicked out of Native Oaks for the day so Dos Oso's hosted the Sat group. This is the second time playing here and they are doing some fine work improving the conditions. Easy check-in and cart loading with friendly staff. The driving range was removed and they have 2 hitting nets and a large putting green. We went out on time at 8AM and got around in just over 4 hours with minimal waiting. Conditions are still improving here overall, and it's just nice to see an owner investing in the course. Tee boxes were fine, but needed to be moved around. Lots of divots on the par 3's and short par 4s. Fairways had good coverage and were mostly green. There are a handful of GUR areas with new sod but were playable. Rough was a mixed bag, very nice around the greens, but also very thick! Around the fairways, it was mostly ok, but it depended on the type of grass. Then there are the greens...... Very nice shape right now, however, they were slow!!!!! They were a touch on the soft side but very healthy.

Overall, the course is in good shape, and I would recommend playing. The rack rate of $80 is good for the course, but it's not going to knock your socks off.

Glad to say the course is coming back into playable shape. They are focusing on the greens, surrounding green areas and the bunkers first it looks like. The greens were good on the front nine and kept getting better on the back nine, good to very good on the back nine.

I found one greenside bunker and it was great. Nice fluffy sand, no problem.

Fairways are still a work in progress. The back nine was way better than the front. Hole 1 is a disaster, still. We played lift clean place in the fairway and I would recommend that to others right now.

Teeboxes were all playable and level. They need some work as they're still patchy, but it wasn't too difficult to find a nice place to tee it up.

Rough is a mixed bag. Some thick and long in places and most other areas weren't too difficult.

Marshall came around a couple times and was very friendly. He pushed the group in front of us to pick up the pace around hole 13 and they started flying after that. Really nice guy.

Lourd in the proshop was just awesome. Super friendly, too bad she only works on Sundays, she's an asset to have in the proshop.

So glad to see this course coming back to life. It's a great layout and will only get better in the coming months. They're supposed to be having a grand opening soon, so be on the lookout. I'd recommend at this time for these decent rates as long as you don't mind playing LCP in the fairways.

Early morning four hour Friday round on a very open course. The staff is very informative and friendly each time here. Still no range just hitting nets and a not so large practice green. The carts are comfortable and equipped with windshields but no GPS. They are still charging very reasonable rates with the redo still in progress. The tee box were all level but somewhat thin and shaggy. There were a couple boxes that were slightly firm making the tee placement difficult. The rough has grown since the last time here and made finding a ball like an Easter egg hunt. The maintenance crew was out mowing the entire course as we played through them at times. The grass clippings and long grass were discouraging. The fairways are filling in with noticeable Kikuyu grass on a few holes which seems to be the ticket. Many golfers neglecting to fill divots on the fairways which is disrespectful to others and hinders the progress of the grounds crew. The lies on the fairways did require a foot wedge at times to get a fair lie but generally the coverage gets better as you progress through the round. The sand traps for the most part had adequate sand which was damp at times. The edges of almost all traps are very shaggy and need attention. The greens had decent coverage with a few having thin/bare spots especially on the first few holes. The condition of the greens was good but the speed was very slow compared to the last round with much less break than you read. The water ponds have definitely filled up and added to the difficulty of play. The location is a little distant for some but definitely worth the drive for those wanting a challenge at a decent rate.

Our men's club was kicked off Native Oaks due to a tournament so Dos Osos was gracious enough to host us this week. They charged us $69 for a Sat at 7:30 AM and that is a total steal for this place. I had always seen this course online but the condition reviews were always 50/50 so I never pulled the trigger. I am unsure if they have new owners, but I do know JC Golf has taken over and they are putting a ton of money into the course. The starter was very friendly and was talking to us about all of the work that they have done and what is still upcoming on their list. All of the sand has been replaced, and most of the greens have been redone with the others still having some work done on them. Most of the fairways had great coverage with a few of them looking like they were fully reseeded. Rough is a little rough around the edges but the staff mentioned they are focusing on the greens and fairways first. The carts are basic with no accessories but work just fine I assume once they have their Grand Re-Opening they will replaced but for now, they are fine.

I really enjoyed the layout as there are some good doglegs and a nice mix of lengths on the par 3's. Their Signature hole with the fountain will need some work as I was told the fountain hasn't been on in many years and the lake is stagnant. Comparing it to similar courses nearby I would put it behind Native Oaks and Mt. Woodson but given the conditions, I would gladly play here as long as it's in the $80 range on weekends.
