I also played 4-13 and had a 7:20 tee time so that I could watch The Masters. I have played here many times and really like the layout (although I do not score well here). When I made the tee time I called and talked to Joe because in the past when I had made an early weekend tee time I have been pushed back because the "Members" seem to have a standard tee time and they never know how many are going to show up. Joe told me that he would be there on Sunday and it should be no problem. When I checked in I introduced myself to Joe who said he remembered me and that we would have no problem going out on time because the members were already out. So it comes time to go down to the 1st tee and we are told by the starter it will be another 10 minutes. I go in and talk to Joe and he informs me that some members showed up and did not check in and just went to the first tee! This is ridiculous! It happens every time I am here! I cannot believe this is allowed and it always pushes back everyone's tee time every weekend. It is not like this is a country club where they paid $100,000 to join and monthly dues. I think it is very rude and inconsiderate to think you can just show up and jump in and play in front of others who have gone through the trouble of actually setting up a tee time, be there on time and check in only to be bumped aside like we do not count. For his part Joe was a complete gentleman and apologized and offered us a coffee or beer when we wanted it. The starter was also really good about getting us out there as soon as he could. But what is it with this policy of "members" getting to do this? Now for the course. It really is a nice course and they have really made attempts to improve and maintain it over the past year. Fairways still a little thin for my liking but the tee boxes are much improved. The greens are some of the best around as well. The bunkers, well that is the only really bad part of this track. I think the fist bunkers with actual sand in them are on the par 4 16. The rest are hard pan, dirt, mud and not much else. Real sand would be a huge addition and really make this course much much better. The marshal was out and did try and keep things moving along but our round was 4:35 which was a little to long for being that early in the day. After the round we met Joe in the parking lot as he was getting ready to leave for the day but went back in and bought us the beer he promised us, class move. Once we were inside we decided to watch the Masters while we drank our beer. From there the customer service was really super. The woman behind the counter made us sandwiches that were quite good, kept us with chips and beer and was so nice we ended up staying and watching the whole match! I would play here again but not until they get this weekend tee time member thing straighten out as I like to play in the morning but am not going to waste my time waiting for people who do not want to play by the same rules I have too.

Had a 7:04 this morning trying to get done in time to watch The Masters. I thought the course was in good shape as rudyclub said last week.
Tee boxes: good
Fairways: good
Rough: it was there
Bunkers: wet brown (sand?)
Greens: pretty smooth, not many marks, rolled true and smooth.
POP: 4:40, should have been better but we had a group of guys in front of us drinking, yelling and generally taking the leisurely sport of golf waaaay too leisurely! They eneded up at least 2 holes behind. The marshalls were hounding them and apologizing to us. I mean really, what can you do? Boot'em? I wish people had more respect for themselves, the golf course, the neighborhood the course winds through and other golfers. (drinking at 7 am?)
Layout: interesting and varying (truth be told I played horribly and can never seem to score here, but I won't let that effect my review).
Overall an enjoyable course with plenty of challenge for the average golfer. I played from the whites and the distances were very playable. Not to many wedges or long shots, a bit of everything.

Greens were spectacular. This place often has the best greens around and they did not disappoint on this day. Smooth, quick & receptive.
Most of the bunkers are just hard pan, but they are slowly replacing the sand in them around the course. A good time to go play here with many other places punching their greens right now.

Played eagle crest today 2/23 at 11. Highlight of the course were the greens, very smooth running fairly fast. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough were all hit and miss, a little patchy here and there but nothing too bad. Interesting layout, very narrow off the tee, not many bail out spots. I would return to play again for a rate around 30 dollars for twilight.

Played the last day of the year, had a golfnow deal that was getting ready to expire. Staff was great, very friendly. Course is coming back around to be in good shape. It really was in poor shape the last couple years, but looks like they are working on it and trying their best to get it back in good playable condition. Teeboxes are OK, they were level with divots but able to find some good spots to hit from. Fairways are mostly dormant with some green "dye" on them, but played well, had a bunch of good lies and nicely mown. Greens were on the verge of being perfect. Very firm and smooth, but held shots very well and putted great, definitely the highlight of the condition of the course, which is nice. Hope they continue to work on this course, because it has always been one of my favorites in the North County.

Too funny, guess I was right behind fellow gkeepers. Spot on with the review. Greens were pretty sweet, fairways ok, tee boxes were nice, especially my girlfriends, they were perfect on the red boxes. Blues were ok, they are putting in some new blue boxes which is gonna be awesome! number 4 will be way back and number 8 is already back farther but they have room to spare and are doing work on another tee box farther back, pretty cool. POP was deplorable, so we played the front twice, we were running about 20 mins behind to begin with so there wasn't any chance of finishing, especially with the guys in front of us hitting 3 balls each off the tee. LOL oh well, it's Christmas and it was a beautiful day in So Cal to play golf. We got paired up with a great couple, Dean and Carole thanks you guys rocked. Staff rocked, love the course and think it will soon come around to be as good as it once was years ago.

Played with sixpez & rudyclub and a friendly single who we hopefully encouraged to check out GK. Starter began the day on a bad note by telling us that they were running right on time when we arrived, but then he didn't let us tee off until 25 minutes past our tee time. Courses take note: Tee times running late is annoying enough, but being lied to about it makes it exponentially more frustrating.

I feel like the course is in two different conditions right now. Visually, it looks terrible. The greens are the only green part of the course and the rest looks like it's been covered in snow or something – patchy dormant grass all over. That said, it plays pretty well. There weren't too many times that I felt I had a bad lie or that the dormant conditions adversely affected play. The tee boxes were pretty beat up and several had some uneven spots. I was in a few bunkers; one was great and the others were decent. The greens were good for the most part and pretty quick.

Played here this afternoon with GKers rudyclub, Itslikeimsayin and a single they paired with us at the course. Used a GN Deal Caddy voucher that was $40 for two players. $20 is a great deal for this course. Our tee time was 11:52, but we teed off about 25 minutes late and the on-course pace was slow going, so we barely finished in the dark around 5:10. The course was definitely in winter condition. Not pretty, but playable. The greens were very good, so that helped make up for the fairways and rough, which weren't too great. Fairways dormant, brown and thin and rough very patchy/thin, as well. Most tee boxes pretty nice, but the par-3s were quite chewed up. I was in only one bunker. It was a fairway bunker and the consistency was good for a fairway bunker. I've always been a fan of the layout here. Nice scenery and interesting design. It's been several years, so it was fun to revisit the course. I always forget how challenging the layout is. A lot of very uncomfortable/tight tee shots from the blue tees with lots of trouble to get into. Most holes have OB one side and red-staked hazards on the other, so not much room for error when you miss fairways. I do think if they changed some of the OB areas to ESA laterals, it would help pace of play.

Greens were not as great as last time. They were very receptive but were running at a medium pace at best and I noticed quite a few putts wonder off line. Over all course is in good shape
