Played late Friday morning at a great pace 3.5 hours. Saw the course was just finishing overseeding and it was cart path only. Not a really big deal to me. Saw some recent reviews that were pretty critical but true. I must say I was impressed with the conditions of the course. Tee boxes were level and freshly cut. Fairways were nice and green and in the process of getting their first cut. The ruff was high and hadn't been cut in a while but I didn't mind, actually made it more fun. Greens were in very good shape. Only one or two greens had any problems. The sand was a mixed bag. Some good and some very thin. I would say if you can find a good deal it is worth the time. If you sign up for their email club they send out good deals every week. Right now I think they are doing $36 which includes cart and lunch, not bad!

Played 8/25 on a very cheap TeeOff.com time ($16) at 12:30pm. I know they have lots of tournaments here and unfortunately I caught it on one of those days. The rain was light and stopped around 11am so no issue there. I'm not sure how much the course got before that but it was very muddy. Arrived about an hour early and got off at 12:19pm right behind the 70 player shotgun which started at noon. Played with a twosome.

Not sure what the guy who posted the last review in late July about ATV damage on all the greens was talking about. Unless he was referring the the fungus problem. Was he talking about four wheeler damage from a vandal? I saw no evidence of any such damage other than what looked like some maintenance vehicle damage in a few areas around some greens but it was really muddy all over the course. They have a bad drainage issue here. Be careful where you step!

For the rate I paid, it was worth it. But you guys should definitely be aware of the poor greens conditions at Eastlake right now. #2 my ball landed short of the green and plugged into the muddy fringe completely. Very soggy lies all over most of the areas around the greens and this was the first hole where I noticed the fungus stuff taking over the green. Tons of ball marks, most left unrepaired by clueless golfers. This wasn't just from the scramble tournament. No way. I see the note here about them punching in early Sept. It is MUCH needed!

The greens are super soft/fragile and even the simple repair of the ball mark seems to dig up mud like the green can't even handle it.

#4 is the worst green on the course. I think the fungus is taking over the whole thing. I have no idea what it takes to fix this but it seems like the whole green needs to be redone. It's bad, guys. Really bad. Worse than the Carlton Oaks debacle a few years ago.

#13, #14 and #17 have the fungus problem too. #14 par 5 is really bad.

A lot of the tee boxes were beat up and the fairways bare in many spots. Often times, the rough was a better lie than the fairway.

Cart girl was nice, saw her once on the front, twice on the back.

We played behind the last group of the scramble and they really slowed down starting on #13, which was expected. We finished in about 4 hours 45 mins.

I'll be back once the greens are improved. The practice greens are really nice and there is a chipping area and grass range so they have that going for them right now.

HEADS UP - Many of the greens have been vandalized by an ATV. Very unplayable until further notice, unless you want to do some practice rounds.

Played here Friday 6/26. Overall enjoyable round. The fairways and rough were very damp in some areas even though my tee time was at noon and it hadn't rained recently. Course plays easy, so don't be afraid to move back a tee. Everything was in good shape except the bunkers. Some were just lacking sand, others were hard and full of weeds. Worth playing if you are somewhat nearby.

Played for the first time on a Sunday morning Father's Day round. I've heard about this course for years, but always seemed to end up at Salt Creek, Chula Vista, or Bonita instead when I'm in the area. What struck me right away was the moist and damp conditions of the course. Even though it was been fairly warm lately, there were many areas of the fairway, rough, and around the greens that were squishy and mushy. I don't know if the course is over-watered, or if there is poor drainage. It reminded me a lot of another Ted Robinson design, the back nine of Mountain Meadows in Pomona, where the trees and hills seem to block the sun enough that everything remains damp. This was especially a problem when I went into my first greenside bunker. The coarse sand combined with the wetness made me feel like I was hitting out of a mud pit.

The layout was fairly wide open. I had heard that the course was lined with houses, but you have to hit a really wild shot to hit them. Many of the holes were fairly short, and all the par 3s played in the 125-140 yard range from the white tees. There were many of the beautiful water features that you see on Ted Robinson courses, with lots of tumbling waterfalls. The greens were very soft and putted fairly slow, firming up a tad when the afternoon wind started to blow. Customer service was very nice, although the beverage cart lady took her life into her own hands when she absent-mindedly drove in front of me while I was teeing off on a par 3, forcing me to back off.

Pace of play was slow, understandable with the holiday, with waiting on every hole after around the fifth hole. We made it around in 4 hours and 50 minutes. I wouldn't mind playing here again, and I would recommend it for beginners. But I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come back.

Every Wednesday, my buddy and I are able to tee off at 3pm and be done in about 2:30. Def. under three, but I would not expect that pace on a weekend. I play a lot of courses in and around San Diego, and the condition of Eastlake would be in the above average class, at this point in our "State of Emergency" drought. They use reclaimed water, and have wood chipped many places that are not ball landing areas.

Fairways are in great condition. I've never had a poor or questionable shot. Surprisingly, many people fix their divot marks on the fairways.

Greens are always in good condition - only thing is, many will run at different speed. One will be lightning fast, then the next will play like a muni par 3. Lines hold true, though.

Bunkers are okay. Not fluffy, but not hard pan either. Both fairway and greenside bunkers are playable.

Here is the thing about Eastlake - the "Eastlake Bounce." The course funnels shots back towards the fairway. So you are rarely punished for a bad shot, ESPECIALLY off the tee. Additionally, after playing here every week, we've learned that the uphill par 3 on the front, and the two par 3's on the back are at least two clubs extra. There are a few par 4's that are extra club two. Don't let the small breeze fool you, it's a distance killer.

Played the blues (6224/69.6/129) through Eazy Links for $30 including a cart on a beautiful, breezy Saturday mid day in the low 70's. Typical weekend POP. Brutal, 5H, 20M, waiting on nearly every shot the entire round. Loved the layout. Constantly up/down rolling hills. The only holes that curved were basically 6 & 14, the rest were pretty straight. There are numerous uphill and downhill holes, but the course is laid out so you almost never have sidehill holes. The par 5's were scoreable, there was a good mixture of par 4's and several good looking par 3's with water. The greens were firm but nice. They putted medium fast & were relatively smooth for poa annua. Both the fairways and the rough were semi lush, occasionally thin. There is some hardpan bare spots on the outlying areas, but there was good coverage in the areas you should be hitting to/from. The tees were very well maintained, few unfixed divot marks, and generally lush. The sand traps had a decent amount of good sand. However, you could tell they were not regularly maintained by the course and far too many golfers were not raking their footprints. The customer service was excellent, they matched me up and got me right out on the 1st tee on time. Very busy snack stand @ the turn and numerous water stations on the course. The snack cart came around at least 4 times. I would play here often if I lived closer, really enjoyed the course.

Played late Sunday morning. Course is in reasonable condition. Tee boxes mostly good. Fairways mostly quite firm with roll. A few thin and bare spots. Rough was relatively thin with some bare areas. Bunkers that I went in were ok. Greens on the slow side. Many ball marks - I may have seen it at its worst playing late Sunday morning. Lost my drive on the first hole because it went down the right hand side of the fairway and there were dozens of balls there from the driving range. This may be worse because I went out late Sunday morning after a busy weekend. POP 4 hours 45 minutes. Customer service was good. We saw the drinks cart several times which was useful on a warm day. Course plays shorter than card due to the current dry conditions with plenty of roll which also makes it easier to play.
