Course is shutting down for the LPGA today but we got out in the morning. Rained the previous night and off and on during the front 9. At times it was extremely heavy but the back 9 the coulda parted and the sun was out and quite enjoyable.

It rained enough that there were some puddles on the greens and bunkers had standing water in them but despite that the course was in outstanding condition. On the back the greens are about perfect. Really picked up pace as they dried out and really smooth. Never saw a putt get knocked off line once.

Fairways are fantastic. Definitely some wet spots but because of the undulation there was usually some dry spot to be found. Not a lot of roll thou.

Rough wow. That is some very thick stuff. I lost 2balls in the rough. We were told it’s going to be cut for the ladies and it makes sense with the rain last night and the morning that they probably couldn’t get the mowers out there.

We played the tips but that was not always possible because they had stands up blocking some of the back tee boxes. Some wetness on them too. I remember 7 was almost completely under water. Generally the tee boxes were pretty much untouched thou so they were really fantastic.

Again sand had some standing water in them and others were pretty wet but these were some of the best bunkers I’ve hit out of. I was a little uncertain the first time but one of the other guys had hit out first and looked fairly easy and it was.

Customer service is top notch and I expect nothing less from a Troon run facility. Never had a bad experience here and makes it easy to come and play here. I’d highly recommend coming after the tournament next week. Rack rate is a little out of my range but there are always deals out there for this place. I’m already making plans to come back and you should too.

Played here on Saturday the 24th of Feb. A little pricey but got on with a friend for a special rate. Tee Boxes are in great condition, fairways are also in great condition, good sand in every bunker I go into and as for the greens there were receptive and really fast especially down slope putts but in great shape as well. Course over all was great. Guess they are getting ready for the LPGA in March but some of the ladies are scoping out the Course now getting a head start. Starter at the course was very nice with a lot of patience. As for the person who suppose to assist you in putting your bag on the cart. Well he must of been having a bad day. He definitely needed an attitude adjustment. For the price a player pays to play this course at $260 on a Saturday, we didn't need this type of person helping us. He definitely needs to find another job. Over all a great experience playing this course.

I played here again today on the second day of a stay and play. Having played the course for the first time yesterday I found the course much more playable today. Knowing where to hit the tee shot made a huge difference. The greens are still too large, with the potential for 75-100 foot putts, but this time around we were better able to judge speed and read the break, so there were a lot fewer 3- and 4-putts.

As others have said, the service is top notch, and the course is very scenic and serene. The rough is too long, which slows down play. Even with the coupon it’s pricey. I can’t see myself ever paying the rack rate, And don’t think I’d play again without as good a deal as the UnderPar deal we got. If we use the bounce back coupon it’ll be during the summer when conditions should be better.

I played here yesterday on a stay-and-play coupon. My wife stayed with me in the hotel for the night while my buddy and I played yesterday, and will be playing again today.

I played here yesterday on a stay-and-play coupon. My wife stayed with me in the hotel for the night while my buddy and I played yesterday, and will be playing again today.

I know that just about all of the reviews of this course are good, but I was disappointed with the course. The course was in overall decent shape, but the rough was so long that it was difficult to find your ball, which slows down play. The greens are humongous and lots of undulations. It would take numerous rounds to learn the subtleties of the greens, but who can afford to play this course more than occasionally? The ball might land on the left side of the green and roll all the way to the other side. Or trickle by the whole and roll another 25 feet. Very frustrating. We’ll see if having one round under my belt helps for today’s round.

Came back for a couple of pre Christmas rounds at one of my favorite courses. Customer service is still over the top excellent. Course is in great shape for the most part . Fairways were in excellent shape. Very green and lush throughout. Greens were rolling smooth but have a LOT more undulations than I remember. Basically the greens kicked my tail! Some Sand traps were a bit hard packed and a couple of tee boxes on the par 3's were full of divots.

Overall the course is still in really nice shape. The elevation changes mixed in with all the water features makes this track a winner in my book.

Aviara is a challenging course that eases the pain with its beauty.

Some miscellaneous info. Driving range (balls are included with green fees) is mat only so getting a correct tee height for your driver is challanging. Carts have GPS with numbers to the pins. Rounds are generally 4 1/2 hrs long. Beverage cart comes around on a regular basis.

This is a beautiful course!! Track has Three of the most beautiful par 3's in California Hole#7 at Pebble is spectacular but the flowers, ponds and waterfalls on holes 3,11, & 14 at Aviara are just absolutely gorgeous. Elevation changes and more scenic water hazards add the enjoyable experience. This is a resort course that plays like a true championship difficult course but yet manageable so you can shoot your normal score. Customer service is beyond superb. I can't say enough about the genuine friendliness of the entire staff. The greens are in the process of being aeratyed so speed control was a bit off has every third green had recently been sanded. The rough while lush is thick and punishing after being in it for a while. Sand traps are excellent. There are a few fairways that are brown but other than that the course is a full on top notch track. Aviara has moved into a top 3 courses I've played.

Played the day after the Kia Classic from the same tees. As it stands, Aviara and Rams Hill are neck and neck for my favorite in SD county. Everything was perfect, fun to play the same tees as the pros. I've played Torrey the day after the Farmers and the Kia the day after, give me the ladies tees all day long. Fun that they mix up the tees from golds, whites, and blues. You can't go wrong at Aviara. One of those treat yourself kind of rounds.

Received A-list rate from a friend, which, at $155, caused me to cancel my normal time at Fairbanks Ranch and fight the Sunday noontime traffic up the 5 North. Service is always superb here, from cart staff greeting to clubhouse, to the amazing starter.

Greens had been punched and sanded between the Kia Classic and my round, so they were firm and hard to hold. I was getting off the tee reasonably well, but couldn't score on those things!

Ask the starter for the LPGA scorecard. It's fun to play the course the way they did. You play mostly blue tees, and the tips on 9 & 10. Of all the times I've played Aviara, I had never played from the back tees on 10, which I think is a far better hole; it allows you to swing a 3w or a Driver.

An excellent day capped off with a drink overlooking the 18th tee. We got it good here in San Diego!

Played here today (4/2) in an SCGA outing with GK member jpeairs85. Outing was shotgun with a full field and pace of play a sluggish 5 hours but round was beyond enjoyable. One week after the Kia and this place was in absolutely amazing condition. Second time playing here and the greens today were some of the fastest I have ever played. On to the review...

Tee-boxes: Great shape as we were some of the first people out. Certain boxes were harder to drive the tee into, however all boxes offered good coverage. Good amount of choices of boxes for all skill levels.

Fairways: Amazing. Green, cut tight with a great amount of roll. Very few divots and a pleasure to hit from.

Rough: Penal! This stuff was a step below Torrey but absolutely killed your drives when out of bounds. Hid mis-hits well and grabbed your club, especially early in the morning.

Sand: I was in two bunkers today and they were amazing as well. Beautiful white sand that helped with shots. Ample amount of rakes.

Greens: The highlight of the round! Absolutely perfect greens that rolled like glass. Minimal damage and the breaks on some of these were insane. These were PGA tour quality greens.

ETC: Staff was very friendly, SCGA rep was very friendly. Pace was pretty bad today but I hear these events are always slow. Course still had television tower and certain stands still up from the event last weekend that really added to the feel. Highly highly recommend!
