Played Pala Mesa today with a deal from under par. The first thing I noticed was the driving range was in sad shape and the balls were a little discolored. There were some thin spots in the fairway, and some tee boxes were a little beat up but overall the course was fine. We played with a couple from Tennessee and one of them asked if they were overseeding, and I replied " not sure". Anyways, we had a pleasant time with pop at 4 hours. I would play again if in the area...

Greens: Bumpy on the front 9, smoother on the back. Looks like they are fighting a fungus on the front. Speed : medium and they are "holding".

Fairways: I would say over 30% of all fairways have thin/hardpan lies. Had over 7 thin/hardpn lies in the fairways. They haven't improved since my report in July.

Rough: 1-3" with lots of bare spots.

Traps: There is sand BUT it's hardpan.

Great GPS in the carts.

POP was at 4 hours.

Played here on 7/2 at 8 AM for the first time in 3 years and was disappointed with the condition of the fairways, lots of bare/thin areas especially on the front 9. More on the fairways at the end of this review. Greens: excellent, medium to fast and holding with very few ball marks. Sand Traps: there was sand but it was hard packed. Rough: not much of a problem unless you got into a bare area. Customer Service: Very helpful in the Pro Shop and the marshal came around 3 times. POP was under 4 hours but there was not a lot of players on the course. I would like to comment more about the fairways. After the round we were posting our scores in the Pro Shop when the Pro asked us about our round so we commented on the condition of the fairways and he explained that the previous owner had the well go dry and he only watered the greens for the past few months. The new owner has since drilled a new well and is watering to get the course back in it's normal good condition. He estimates it will take another 4-5 months. The course is in decent enough condition so don't hesitate to play now and it should get even better in the next 6 months.

Greens are still bumpy from the maintenance last month. The fairways and rough are in good shape. There was maintenance work going on around the course, but it didn't interfere with play. This is a challenging course with narrow fairways and a few target greens. The layout is not real long, but it can test your patient if off your game. The views are nice and there are only a few holes with homes that can be hit by errant shots!

It is greened up, no complaints about any bare lies. Great value, tough course, good food at the snack bar. Overall great experience. My only complaint would be the mats at the driving range - some of them were ok and some just need to be replaced.

Did a play & stay, 1/22-23, included was the room and unlimited golf, both on day of arrival and departure, for $79 per person, double occupancy, during the week. Well worth that and probably an unbeatable price. I will review both the golf and a quick review of the room.

Very tight and fast, with an okay layout and good conditions is how I would describe this course. Most of the holes were very tight off the T, (#3 makes me feel down right claustrophobic, with a wash on the left and a big tree on the right), and many holes slope side ways into trouble, I spent way more time than average, thinking how I wanted to shape my shot and what club to use.
The Greens were rolling very fast and true, the best of what this course has to offer, don't be above the hole, 3 putts are almost certain.
Fairways are well covered with mostly dormant grass and firm, they do not over seed.
The rough is mostly short with some thin areas, easy to get out of.
The T's and grass around the greens were over seeded and in good shape, but with many T's crowned.
Sand played really well the first day, but were moist and not worked by the grounds crew on the second.
Pace of play was just ok on the first round, with some backing up on the front caused by... you guessed it, our foursome! everybody in our group seemed to have they're head up they're butt, one person would have a bad hole, than the next, etc.. Back 9 was much better and played about 4 and a half hours. Me and my partner went out to play the front again and had no one in front or behind, got into a great rhythm and played the front 9 in an hour and a half.
I am not a big fan of the lay out, there are probably 6 other golf courses on the way down the 15, from the IE, that I would rather play, still I would recommend this deal to anyone, great offer.

Rooms are good but old fashioned, could use some updating. My biggest complaint was it took way to long for the room to heat up by the old furnace and the water pressure was low.
Beds were comfortable and older TV worked well enough. Very nice balconies with views of the course and very well kept grounds. Jacuzzi is nice and hot, very relaxing. Customer service was nice throughout.

Nice round to start the year with Itslikeimsayin. His review sums up the conditions well. Didn't look that pretty, but definitely playable. Fairways here always seem kind of splotchy in color, but generally good lies. Fast greens with many tough pin placements, so most anything downhill was do or die. I always forget how difficult these greens are. I was in two bunkers. One was good soft sand and the other was damp with a firmer surface. For the price we got, it was well worth the trip. I always enjoy this layout and it never seems super crowded there, so pace is generally good in my experiences. There's a lot of good scoring opportunities if you keep the ball in play, but big numbers can add up real quickly if you hit a poor shot or two.

The course doesn't look very appealing right now but plays pretty decent. Fairways are yellowish green and "ok" condition. Rough is spotty but has a few really nice, lush areas among clumps of different grasses elsewhere. Tee boxes were almost all good. The bunkers I was in were great. And then the greens...oh boy, these are quick. They have a thin layer of sand on them but they roll pretty true and are very fast. Good luck getting downhill putts to stop if they don't hit the hole.

All in all, the course plays much better than it looks right now and for $31 it was a great deal and a lot of fun.

Fantastic day for golf in sunny So Cal on a good golf course. The staff is always great and tries to keep the golfers happy. The course is in great shape from tee to green. The fairways were very playable with only a few thin spots here and there. The greens held and rolled very well, just frustrating to read today. I will say that these greens had the fewest ball marks of any I've played in a long time. The sand traps were well maintained also with only a couple that were slightly wet. The course can be tight on certain holes and the greens are small for most courses. A great place to enjoy a round and freeway close.
