Course was in decent shape. Fairway's a mixture of grasses and mostly green and some what lush. Decent lies most of the time.
Greens mostly healed from aeration, but most have dead areas along the perimeter from a disease they have been battling. They never caused any issues as long as you could chip over them instead of putt across them. They were still bumpy and typically SLOW. Over all in good shape and if a deal can be found a fun day to be had.

played on friday june 2nd with a 1230 tee time...finished at about 445pm..never had to really wait on the group before us.Custmer service is first class from Fred and Jack in the pro shop to the girls in the sandwich snack bar at the turn, which you will aslso find a full bar and resturant,there is no cart girl so load up before and at the turn,plenty of water stations and one restrooms on each nine plus the clubhouse.the course itself is very player friendly/wide landing areas off the tee and most greens are medium to large and protected by bunkers on the sides though a straight path from the fairway for low running shots.There are really no forced carries off the tee but just plenty of sunshine /nice views /and not many homes to contend with(really just the first 5 holes).
every one has something that keeps them coming back to a course or courses... for me it is fairways,I like places that have fairways that feel like capeting/ I am not a big divot maker more of a scooper of the ball so these fairways always seem to have the ball sitting up nicely.I highly recomend making that 40 min drive from san diego...its well worth the trip!!!

Haven't been here in along time, too long. I really enjoy this type/style of golf course, what I call 'old-school', greens with open fronts defended and defined by bunkering, trees, not too many forced carries, with a good variety of holes. I had a 9:52 but was asked and then sent right out at about 9:20. POP was decent at just a tick over 4.5 hrs. The three I was sent out with (no Wendy I didn't have to invite myself?) were all older players (the youngster was 70) that played from the green or front tees . . . and they could play well, quick and efficient, a pleasure to play with. The course is in very good shape right now, it's not a perfectly manicured type course and doesn't ask those kind of fees. Tees, rough, fairways, bunkers and especially the greens were in great shape, I saw a few bare spots around greens, but nowhere near the hole, the fairways were a bit shaggy on some holes, but overall a very enjoyable experience.

Greens in very good shape, Held shots well and fairly smooth for late in the day. Typical San V. pace. Slowww.

Traps in decent shape.
Slow play can be an issue here, but it is really a fun course to play and in pretty good shape

I played on Monday 8/22. I had found a GN hot deal for $20/1 player at 11:30am. When I arrived I was told that deal was a mistake and that I could either play by myself or join a foursome. I really didn’t want to play by myself, but I wasn’t about to invite myself into a foursome. The lady said one of the men was a member there so she talked to him. Their only concern was if I could keep up, so after assuring him I could, they graciously welcomed me to play with them. They are all retired cops who play there regularly and were a lot of fun to play with. The conditions were nice. The fairways were a mix of green and yellowed, thin in places but really no bare spots. The rough varied from thin to thick, nasty, club-grabbing grass. The bunkers were soft brown dirt- easy to hit from, tee boxes very thin but mostly level. The greens were absolutely gorgeous! This was my first time here and as soon as we start to play I knew I was going to love the course. It’s an older course and there was something just so calm and charming about it. It’s very woodsy with old pine and oak trees. There were even a couple dozen wild turkeys roaming the along the 17th fairway. For me this was the ultimate confidence building course. I don’t say that because I had a good score – I didn’t. I played from the golds which at 5500 is a just on the verge of being long for me. There is a wide variety of dog legs, blind shots, forced carries over water and vegetation, some big elevation changes. But when sizing up each shot, my thought was always “this is cool, I can do this,” not, “uh oh, how am I going to do this.” That was huge! Maybe it was the course, maybe the company that made it such a great day. I left there a very happy golfer and am already planning to play it again in a couple weeks.

Did the stay and play Sunday and Monday. When I called to book the room a couple of weeks ago, the lady on the phone taking my reservation gave me some pretty bad starting times, like 11am both days, no way we were going to get 36 holes in with those times. She said call back about 6 days before we arrive and talk to the pro shop, the members cancel all the time. So I did, and got a 9:40 am on Sunday and 8:30 on Monday, so we played 36 each day.

Love this place. Teeboxes were ok, they were all nice and level, but a couple of them were chewed up, most of them were nice, though. Fairways were pretty nice! They didn't look perfect, but I always had good lies. Bunkers were great. The top of the sand was kinda crusty, but perfectly fluffy underneath, they played real well. Greens were pretty darn good, held shots very well, Sunday was a little bumpy at the end, but then they mowed and rolled them on Monday and they were very true. Customer service was great. Bartenders in the bar were just awesome, super friendly, had dinner at the bar on Sunday night and then had dinner there again on Monday after the round, great service. Thanks to the bartenders.

Cant wait to go back, unreal deal, 179$ for two people with a great room on number 10 teebox and unlimited golf for two days, oh yeah, baby. Get out there and do it.

Greens were a little slow for my taste but rolled well and were very green. Bunkers were also in great shape. I very much enjoyed this course and can't figure out why I haven't been out to play here in a while. I think I be dumb.

Played in a Senior event on Monday at 8 AM. Staff did a great job in getting 100+ seniors out in a shotgun start.

Course is in great condition. A must play if you can get a good deal.

Course is in great condition. A must play if you can get a good deal.

Greens: healed nicely from the recent aeration. Smooth, medium to fast speed and "holding".

Fairways: nice condition, very few thin lies.

Traps: good condition.

Rough: 3"+, hard to locate your ball.

POP: at 4 1/2 hours.
