Played here 12/10/21 and the course was in fantastic shape! It had rained the day before so I was expecting cart path only but apparently they got just the right amount of rain so we could drive out on the fairways. The pace of play was good, just under 4.5 hrs for our 10:20am tee time. Tee boxes were level, fairways had plenty of grass and the greens were rolling smooth. One nice bonus is that the bunkers were also in good shape, something that is hit and miss these days with some courses. The staff was incredibly friendly from the pro shop person who checked us in, to the starter, on course beverage person and the man at the cart barn. Super friendly and willing to help with any questions we had. I will definitely be playing here again soon.

The majority of the fairways were pretty green with soft areas to chip onto the greens. There were some bare spots but not a whole lot. IMO the course is in good shape. It’s got some challenging holes. POP was about 4.5 to 5 hrs on Saturday at 10a. Staff were great! Would come back again.

Early morning four hour round on a really nice course. The course is now managed by OB, which is evidently under the Troon umbrella. The staff was friendly and professional. The carts they have are still from the last decade though with no gps or power outlets of any kind. The tee boxes were all level with good coverage and properly positioned since my last visit. The rough here can be difficult but today was long enough to hold up bad shots and short enough to hit from. There are several holes where the rough runs into long grass and large rocks and you'll be lucky to find your balls and/or have a chance to advance it. The fairways all had very good coverage with great lies and only a hole or two with thinner/dry lies. The traps were all in great shape and raked but many were just too damp or wet to hit from. The greens held shots nicely and rolled semi quick with not nearly as much break as some might think. There were however several holes where fixing your marks were not the rule (sad). The course is charging higher rates now but for what it offers is very fair, especially in this area of San Diego county. Definitely recommended even with the drive up the hill.

Played 8/15/21 11:30 POP. 4.5 hrs $75 It had been a while since I played out here last, so thought I'd give it a try after reading Itslikeimsayin's review. I'm very glad I did. The course is in the best shape I've ever seen it. The fairway's are mostly green & lush with very good coverage. There are a few dry, wet, thin areas mixed through out the course, but over all they were in good to great shape. Ball mostly sat great. Greens were in very good to great shape as well. They were very receptive and mostly smooth. Again there are some troupled spots mixed around that had a chance to cause a little trouple if they were between you and the pin, but most in great shape. Saw a couple of bounces, but mostly ran smooth and true at a medium pace. They appear to be continuing to improve this course. Noticed they took out all the shrubbery on the right side of the 15th tee box. What a difference in the look of the hole. It has really opened that one up and is a big visual improvement. Saw the cart girl twice. Driving range in decent shape with some new range balls added to the mix. A fun mix of holes from open to tight tree lined. A easy recommend.

Played here today with a 9:20 TeeOff.com “Deal” time with lotrgolfer48 for our GK Cup match. Holiday rates in effect at $64.99 each. Started right on time (old man starter informed me who we’d be following by identifying the foursome in front of us by their race, felt a little weird) and finished in just about 4.5 hours. While waiting to tee off, we saw the maintenance staff applying something to the practice putting green. Turns it they were putting a top-dressing of sand on all the greens right before we played. Nothing too bad, though. Not sure if it even affected any putts. It did seem heavier in the middle sections of each green, though.

Greens were good, medium fast, mostly smooth and a little more soft than firm, My full shots mostly stopped quickly, or maybe one bounce and stop. Fairways were solid, no complaints from me. Rough was quite healthy; pretty deep in spots and not too penal in others. I think I was only in one fairway bunker and it was nice. Black tee boxes were decent… too lumpy in many cases to consider them good.

My second time here. I really like the layout and conditions are improved from six years ago when I played 36 here one day. (Although I don’t think they were bad then.) Recommended!

4/28 using teeoff deal time with discount for $37 on an almost perfect spring am 1015 tee off with a POP of right at 4. Fairways have mostly good cover with a few areas that were thin and just a couple that had bare spots worthy of GUR, Lies provided nothing to complain about. Rough varied from somewhat thin dryish and whispy to juicy Bunkers have enough playable sand but suffer from covid.
Greens were healthy mostly firm but holding well struck approach shots. Slightly bumpy a few times otherwise rolling quickly medium fast. Noticed a few greens on the back had been needle punched and had a very light top dressing neither of which seemed to affect putts. Course uses a 3 zone pin placement, essentially front back middle but uses lateral pin placements with in the zones to provide more variety and challenge. Greens are mostly on the large side with substantial contours and some evil breaks if putting from the wrong side.
Staff members are friendly and helpful. Had a senior episode and forgot my driver but was gladly loaned one--a nice Titleist which i hit almost well enough to consider making an offer to keep it in my bag.

4/16 got a tee off deal time $38--course now managed by OB sports which is part of Troon golf. Current rates $82 for public and $63 players card, 1015 tee time on a really nice morning warm with just about a 1/2 club breeze. Paired with Jay and Scott 2 bombers playing from the tips while we old guys played the whites. Tee times seemed well spaced and we teed off with the group ahead on the green. We waited a few times on the front mostly due to our playing partners length but the pace was steady and comfortable making the turn in 215 and no pressure from behind. Don't know what happened on the back as we became progressively slower maybe due to more errant shots or settling into a pace set by the groups ahead except by 11 we lost the 4some ahead and finished in over 2 1/2 with overall POP 445. Fairways were mostly in good shape with some random bare spots on 2-3 holes. Lies a little thin at times but ok for irons. Rough about 2 inches which quickly slowed the baqll but was not too penal for shot making. Tees were level but patchy and thin with some bare areas and filled divots on the 3s. Bunkers were groomed and had good sand with no rakes. Greens are fully healed but had bee3n verticut with about a 1/2 inch stripe so this was a bit of a factor as putts were slightly affected. Greens were firm and medium fast. Carts are comfortable but basic, no GPS. Grass driving range and large putting green that was smoother than the course. Friendly staff easy check in with drink/snack cart making the rounds. Nice layout with good variety in a natural setting with trees lakes birds and a remote feeling. Rack rates seem a little pricy but the players card does give a discount and if you can find an online deal its well worth the trip.

I get it Covid and no rakes but for $82. Ucks you should groom them each morning.

12/21 810 start about 10 min behind but still comfortable 4 hr POP with limited waiting. Course continues to be in good winter condition overall. Fairways mostly have good cover with some thin areas. Rough is just long enough to slow the ball but is not very penal for shot making. Bunkers have adequate sand recently groomed but suffer from lack of rakes. Tees are ok but generally on the thin side.
Greens are very healthy receptive for full shots and quick for chips and putts. Pin placements were fairly benign on the front and then punitive on the back with locations often on the hump or near a drop off. #11 a short par 5 was especially difficult with a center pin but right at a triple divide as the ball broke every which way.
Once again very friendly staff with Jim the well organized starter making for a good start to an enjoyable round.
