Played and early morning Sunday round in 3.5 hours. The staff is friendly and the carts are okay. The restaurant was closed even the small outside patio. The tee boxes were all dry, thin and pretty beat up. The rough was hit and miss with sections good and others not to be found. The fairways were pretty dry and firm with quite a bit of roll if you were in them. Some sections of the fairways had been plugged where the bermuda was starting to go dormant. The coverage on the fairways was adequate to good depending on the hole. The traps were groomed and raked but some were a little damp. The greens were all in really good shape with few ball marks. The greens were pretty firm but held shots okay if you hit good shots. The course is scheduled to start green maintenance on Wednesday. The prices for seniors is good but the weekend rack rate is a little steep for what is offered.

Played out GK Cup match out here Sunday afternoon, teeing off at 2:10 PM. Everything seemed pretty consistent with Covid rules, nothing out of the ordinary.

Played out GK Cup match out here Sunday afternoon, teeing off at 2:10 PM. Everything seemed pretty consistent with Covid rules, nothing out of the ordinary.

I've always been a big fan of Woods Valley. I know the back nine kind of gets most of the attention with holes back in the trees/canyons, but I think there are some really interesting holes strategically on the front nine as well. Overall I think it's a tough but fun course to play.

The conditions were a bit of a mixed back for me. Fairways were kind of hit and miss and felt pretty bare in some spots which led to a bunch of run out, sometimes causing holes to play much tougher. I was in one bunker and it was a bit firm but without much care of them lately with covid I don't really mind. The greens were pretty slow and bumpy from my perspective. The upside is that they were really healthy so seeing as they are going to be punching in a week or so, recovery should go great and they'll be back to cutting them shorter. All in all I think the course conditions are more than playable, it just feels like they've taken a bit of a beating with the amount of hot weather and increased play.

Gary got us a good deal ($45 with cart) and at that rate I felt I got really good value. As temperatures cool and the course goes through its normal maintenance it's going to come out the other side looking great. I'll be excited to go back.

Had a gk cup match here last Sunday and it had been a while since I have been to this course. I used to be in the men's club a few years back so I know the course well. Right now its in overall good not great shape IMO. Greens were the highlight although a touch soft and bumpy from the all the play earlier in the day. They rolled mostly true and medium speed. Fairways had good coverage and was cut short looks like they are letting it go a bit before the overspeed planned next week. Rough was ok but a very mixed bag of grasses and lengths. Sand was poor in the two bunkers I found and I think they need to be redone next. Tee boxes need to be moved but were fine to hit from.

Overall this is a fun course and the back nine is a must play.

Played here 3x in last 8 days 10/17 GK cup team with Matt, Gery, and Andrew my partner and today with my regulars. Conditions continue to be solid overall fairways mostly with good cover and a few thin areas. Rough is short but sticky posing some challenge as it is uneven enough to give some testy lies and definitely slows any forward progress when hit into.
Bunkers are groomed but tore up by late day. Sand quality is good overall. Tees at times are thin and firm and depending on where the markers are placed there is some slope and some uneven spots.
Greens are healthy with tight grain generally not cut way down and being somewhat soft there was some occasional bumpiness.
Friendly staff. No on course service no GPS. POP 4 to 4 1/2.
Punching begins 11/2 and course will also be CPO for about 3-4 weeks following over seeding.

A favorite course of mind, so was anxious to get back out here after having only 9 holes open for a while. First off at 7am, so no issue with pace of play. However the course was busy, so I was pleased that we were able to get out early.

Course is probably in some of the better shape than I can remember. The greens I felt were exceptional. Rolled true, receptive, and enough speed to keep your interest. Fairways were fine, bunkers had plenty of sand, most tee boxes were OK.

I find this to be a fun, interesting track, with a lot of different holes, particularly on the back nine. Narrow enough to keep your focus, but wide enough to allow you to "just hit it". Great autumn morning on a nice course in wonderful condition. Very enjoyable day !

9/28 on a really nice fall morning easy POP of just under 4 hr with very little waiting. Overall conditions are quite good and have even improved over the last 2 weeks. Fairways are full with good coverage and cushion. One concern is that no sand bottles are on the cart and it does not appear that the grounds crew spends any time filling divots so as that frequency of play picks up this could easily become a problem. Rough is kept fairly short but is enough to impede forward progress but not overly penal for shot making. Bunkers groomed with ample sand but distressed from having no available rakes. Tees a little thin with some uneven spots.
Greens are very healthy with thick well rooted cover rolling medium medium fast and very receptive to full shots. Some unattended pitch marks even though they are easy to repair.
Layout is interesting with good variety. Serene scenic setting. Friendly welcoming staff. No cart service and no GPS. Grass driving range and putting green without cups. $34 senior rate on Mondays. Great time to get out to this hidden gem. Maintenance possibly scheduled for November.

played as a single joining a very older 3some on a very warm turning hot by the time we finished on thursday 9/17...tee time 840..price 34.00 including my own unshared cart..pop was 415..check in very easy/starter assaigned you a cart and 1st tee here we go..pro shop and first tee are about 30 yards apart(that helps when you are running behind and only have 4 minutes before tee time after you check in) putting green is fairly large next to 1st tee..played the blues 6315/slope 127.. fairways are mostly sloping one side more than the other..most are fairly narrow 30 to 40 yards wide a few browning spots but mostly good coverage..they are trying to keep every thing green which causes overwater sections of the fairways, over half had a spot or two of muddy fairways grade 7..bunkers were not consist and very wet/muddy(saw maintance working on 2 during my round and only the 18th greenside had grass clumps/weeds growing in it..grade 5..greens very very good with above average speed/again most of the collars around the greens were overaly moist..grade 8
quiet/nature/no homes on the front nine/rough was spotty and most areas were habit sensitive so if you hit it in there just wave to your ball as you drive by..snack bar was nice and large/no cart girl on my visit/no water stations/bathroom on the course was porta pots
overall a real country feel and a great value for the senior price of 34.00 with cart/about a 50 min drive from sdsu...highly recomend

9/14 warmish morning with a 4 hr POP with some waiting. Course is showing some wear from the heat since last review, some areas of fairways are rather thin while the majority is in good condition. No sand on the carts so the unfilled divots are increasing as is the amount of play since all 18 opened. Rough along fairways long enough to impede roll but playable. Some areas closer to the greens thicker and longer. Tee boxes a little thin with the par 3s showing more wear. Bunkers groomed but with no rakes quickly show the foot traffic. Greens rolling medium fast mostly smooth, back 9 had micro punches without any sanding. Quite a few pitch marks in evidence. Greens appeared mostly healthy with the exception of #14 which had some bare areas around the edges. Covid requirements masks around people and cart is not allowed to be moved until tee off unless you are old or infirm then you can take it to get loaded and then to the range. Grass range and large putting green. No GPS and basic yardage markers. No drinking water on course. No cart service today. Friendly staff. Layout has good variety and setting has a rural feel. $34 senior rate online

My son played a USKG tournament there Saturday.
The course was in fantastic shape! It was so much funnthat we decided to play there Sunday with a friend from out of town. Fairways were great with a few wet spots...greens were great but a little on the slow side...bunkers could be groomed a bit. Hoping we will see the return of rakes and pulling flags!!! Tee time was at 1pm Sunday and we played in 3 Hours!!!! Awesomeness!!! $50 online rate!!! Go play before we loose more daylight!!!!
