Played Crossings for the first time in six months today at 1:39pm, with a friendly couple from Canada. Friendly greetings by the cart/bag attendees, pro shop staff and starter. POP was pretty good, finishing in 4hrs 20mins.

Course is still in mostly winter conditions. Tees and fairways are good, and fairways provided good lies and roll. Rough was highly inconsistent due to some grasses growing well, and others still dormant, creating tufts of grass behind my ball a few times.

Bunkers seem to have received some new sand, as the sand was very light/slippery, a few inches of fluff before you get to any base, particularly on up-slopes/faces. Easy to 'whiff' under the ball.

Greens are mostly, but not 100% recovered from their punching 6 weeks ago. Still, they were a highlight of the course - very lush and deep green, held shots well and rolled nicely at medium pace.

Course is good now. Will likely be great in a month!

3/23 with Rat-Patrol(Jim), 14Over(Mike), An,drewZ28 for our GK cup match on a breezy but very pleasant spring day with a POP of about 445 behind a slower 4some but the companionship, stories, conviviality, and scenery made for a good day.
Jim's review is spot on good fairways, level tees, and not overly penal rough. Bunkers were well groomed but for me difficult due to the heavy thick nature of the sand, fortunately I was in only 1 but took 2 to get out--not really the sand's fault so much as my skill level.
Greens are almost fully recovered so there was some inconsistency. These are big greens with significant contour, slope, undulations and the occasional tier.
Another shout out to the customer service.

Tees: mostly level with good coverage
Fairways: very nice with good roll out, areas where balls tend to collect due to contours and course design were a bit beat up with multiple divots
Rough: deep enough to effect shots and take spin off, but not to brutal
Bunkers: very nice and mostly well maintained
Greens: still showing holes from the punching a month ago with a few bumps along the way but coming around, took good shots, poorly struck shots took bounces
POP: started off good then caught up with the group ahead, ended up being just shy of 5 hours
Customer service: stellar from arrival to departure, great facility
Overall: recommended, fun layout with some crazy hole on the back 9!

Played on one of the first sunny Saturdays. Course was in great shape with a couple wet spots but only a few. Bunkers in fantastic shape and fairways the same, great. The Greens were hard and fast and still held shots. Course has come through the rain in fantastic shape but they are punching the greens on Monday, so that is kind of a bummer.

Customer service at from check in to the cart girl to the starter and everyone in the clubhouse after was great. The issues with this course the last few times is the marshals. They are rude and out of control.

This course was managed by Kimpton but has switched to JC. There are 5 hotels in the immediate vicinity and the course is not easy. Kimpton managed it like a Resort course, as it should be, but JC is trying to squeeze every round they can out of the course. The group in front of us was a little slow and the marshals were all over them. We were waiting on the first 5 holes, but not for very long periods, but if you are in position, this will happen. The Marshals moved them ahead and we got to our second shots on the par 5 fifth hole, they were already in the fairway on 6 hitting their second shots. We are then informed on hole 6 that we are out of position. This happened again on the back on the 13th hole. They made the group in front move ahead and we were then informed we were out of position. Not nicely, like, hey guys we moved the group in front of you up so please try and get back into position with them, it was, they got moved so if you guys don't catch them now, you will be moved.
Sorry for the rant but the pin positions on Saturday were very hard and the greens really fast and if a course wants to move groups along, they really need to consider the course conditions with their attitudes of the marshals. I appreciate that the marshals were trying to keep play moving but at a certain point with this course there is only so much you can do.

I just hope JC doesn't screw this place up but it looks like it might be moving that way

Played at 824 on Tuesday for my buddies birthday round. The course is in fantastic shape and might be as good as it has ever been. The Greens were great and were very fast and smooth with very little ball mark damage and held shots very well but were still firm.
The rough is starting to get thick in spots with all the rain but is in good shape and will do what it is supposed to do when you miss a fairway.
Traps in great shape, firm with plenty of sand. Had some raking issues in one from another group, but that was not the courses fault.
Fairways and tees in great shape with a few spots with divot damage but never in one.

Course is great now so get out and try it. Fun and challenging.

After 2 days in a row of having my arse handed to me at Aviara I headed to The Crossings today for an afternoon round. I figured with the great weather and being a weekend there would be little chance of completing all 18 holes with a 1:12 pm tee time. I was right as we only got in 16 holes but that was fine. I mainly just wanted to preview the course before coming back down in June to play it as part of a 3 day tournament.

Greens were in fantastic shape. They rolled very smooth at a fast pace. I'd say the speed of the greens were even faster than Aviara's. Most greens are double tiered so paying attention to where the flag is placed is crucial.

Fairways weren't the greenest but I never had a bad lie. Course has a lot of less than driver holes with preferred landing areas so there are a few fairways with a lot of divots.

Sand traps were very nice. Cart gal came around a few times on the front nine.

Layout is fun with a number of "thinking" holes demanding shot placement over distance. The back nine in the canyon has some interesting routing but with all the elevation changes and forced carries I admit I liked it for the most part.

Always enjoy playing the Crossings ! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, allowing our twosome to get out before our scheduled tee time, right behind a single. As expected great pace of play UNTIL we reached #17, when we ran into an eightsome on the tee, but they allowed us to play through, then only to find another eightsome on #18. ??? We waited for one of the groups to finish, then played through the second foursome.

The course was in really nice overall condition, greens, fairways, bunkers, only the rough was a bit inconsistent. Greens slower than they appeared, but truly some of the better conditions I've seen at a course for a while. Kudus to the superintendent.

Really makes you appreciate living in Southern California when you can play in your shirtsleeves on a January morning. What a morning - no fog, no wind, no rain, sunny, just validates my decision to move here 50 years ago !

Played today, teeing off at 12:44pm on a lovely day, with about 1-2 club wind from the west. POP was slow, about 10 mins shy of 5hrs. Since my last visit 12 days ago, the tees are filling in with new thin grass from the scalping. Wet enough on some tees to draw water up, so pretty soft footing at times. Likely need 2 more weeks to be good. Rest of the course was fantastic, fairways were cut nicely, lush and green, and provided good roll. Greens were a bit firmer today, smoother and faster than 2 weeks ago, and held shots well. Noticed that a few have fungus problems directly on their slopes for whatever reason. Not in any bunkers and only in the rough a few times, which wasn't very penal today - got some decent lies, could've been just lucky for once. Only saw the cart girl once, while we were waiting on the 15th tee. She never did make it to us, however, as she came up to #14 from the 13th hole, then turned around back to #13! Guess this is what they mean by 'limited cart service' on the back nine. Friendly greeting by the bag valet up front, pro shop and starter. Love the course, starting to look and play very nice again.

Played here today (10/28) as part of the Pumpkin Scramble. It was a 2 person shamble format that was run fairly well even if pace was absolutely horrible. Play today was not indicactive of the excellent conditions at the course. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of green present and I believe the weeklong morning fog has done wonders.

Tee-boxes: The worst part of the course conditions and even then they weren’t terrible. Ground was chewed up at times but there was enough turf to drive a tee into. All the men played whites so that would explain it.

Fairways: Excellent shape. Even with the morning dew slowing them down, they played well and most had great coverage. Roll became fairer as the day progressed and visually pleasing.

Rough: In certain areas it was penal. Varied lengths of grass but the ESA areas are really what get you in trouble. Seemed to be a club up-length in my estimation.

Bunkers: Thankfully my partner and I avoided them but they appeared to be in good shape with enough sand. More playground than beach but enough to hit out of.

Greens: Wonderful shape. Rolled true (and quicker as the day went on) with good movement with some tricky breaks. A good test of putting skill.

ETC: Staff was friendly and cart attendant came around a few times. Bloody Mary’s before the start and lunch after was a plus. Pace as mentioned was ghastly and the morning fog didn’t help at all (visibility was about 5 feet for the first 30 mins). Well run event even if there was a creepy clown on the putting green.
