Had my first Rams Hill experience with the Gurus on 1/7. Everything about the course was well above average. Great coverage on the fairways and rough, good tee boxes (some overly long but they were probably getting a haircut soon), and great, receptive greens as Keith noted. They definitely looked faster than they were and my entire group left more than our fair share of putts short. Bunkers had lots of soft sand, which was great around the greens but made fairway bunkers a pain to play from. I really enjoyed the layout which reminded me more of Tucson golf than anything in Palm Springs, not something I was expecting. Looking forward to coming back!

Better late than never!

I played in the GK Event a week and a half ago and had a great time! I absolutely love this course and it gets better and better every time I play it. One thing that does stand out to me is that I have a hard time remembering the details of the greens and their slopes. I'm not sure why because I am starting to get a feel for the sight lines off the tee and flow of the course layout, it's just the green complexes that I can't remember. This kind of sucks because its a HUGE part of the course design and a big advantage if played correctly. Oh well...

First off, the course conditions all the way around were completely awesome. It's always so fun to play courses so immaculate from tee to green, especially in contrast to the desert landscape. If I could be nitpicky at all I would like to see the par 3 tee boxes cut a bit shorter, but seriously, I have to try REALLY hard to complain on those.

I know the knock is the distance to get to Rams Hill, but I have no problem with the 1 hour 45 minute drive. It's scenic, easy driving and if you give yourself ample time you just know you're making a day of it.

The staff out at Rams Hill is always fantastic. Jennifer in the bar was great and funny and the guys running the carts and beverage cart did a great job. Just genuinely nice folks.

Can't really say much more than Rams Hill is definitely my favorite course in San Diego County. I'm excited to get back soon!

Played 1/7/18 in the GK outing. First time here. The course is in great shape. The practice area was great. The scenery beautiful. First course I've played during winter that was completely green! The bunkers were in great shape, I was in a few! The course seems easy but a bad shot and it was just trouble. The fairways and greens were absolutely green!! No gps on the carts, but all the sprinklers have yardage. Every hole is well designed. I can't wait to go back. The GK events just get better and better!!

Played in the GK outing. Thanks Johnny for another outstanding day and Andrew for all the great Linksoul swag. The dry winter has dried the course a little from the last time I played here so there was an occasional dry looking spot mixed around in the fairway's, but really had no effect on play. Fairway's were lush and perfect.
Greens were in great shape. Noticed a couple of wobbles here and there and lots of foot prints around the pins. But, mostly played well. Receptive and I thought a good pace of medium fast. The practice green was much faster than the course greens, so it took a couple of holes to get the slower speed down. Service was great and just another fabulous day at the best course in San Diego County. Love this place!

Thinking back to last Sunday and all the fun I had playing and running our Rams Hill Golf Club GK Plays outing, really appreciate everyone that made it, Linksoul golf apparel and Golfmoose.com for sponsoring it, many of the donated gifts for prizes by those playing and Rams Hill Golf Club for providing exceptional service and playing conditions. It was our 4th outing at the course and sure to be another in the future.

Previous and I'm sure future reviews will focus on the personal golf experience, mine is from an outing organizer perspective. Let’s start with the golf course itself, it appeals to all skill levels, is generous off the tee, the pace of play as always been around 4 ½ hours for our outings, the course is in fantastic shape, the desert views while playing are amazing and the first tee, as well as the 18th green are perfectly positioned to start and conclude your event. Next, before your players tee off, the practice facilities are great with a beautiful driving range stocked with ProV1 balls, two short game practice areas (there is even a practice chipping area near the first tee to the right) and a fun practice putting green near the first tee. Next, the customer service from when you are first talking and working with the tournament director, food & beverage, to the day of your event, to following up after, very courteous and professional. As for the clubhouse, nice proshop and there is beautiful restaurant and patio to enjoy a meal/drink before and after golf. Lastly, the Borrego Spring area is a long drive to get to for just about everyone but IMO that helps adds charm and “away from it all” feeling. Some of the views out there of the desert are at least 50 miles. The area has other fun courses for your players to easily make a golf week or weekend out of it plus affordable lodging. I have always been very happy and never disappointed with our golf experience there.

I joined in the GK fun on 1-7-18. This was my fourth time to Rams Hill and it still surprises me to see this beautiful oasis out in what seems to be the middle of nowhere. From the lady who greeted me at the entrance gate, to the staff at bag drop, pro shop, restaurant and starter, everyone was very friendly and efficient. After a nice breakfast on the patio, we headed out for some warm up. The range is one of the best. It’s completely green, has plenty of targets and is stocked with ProV1 balls.

The course was in its usual fabulous condition. The fairways and rough are lush and emerald green, the bunker sand soft and deep, and the greens smooth and fast. The layout is a lot fun. I played from the red tees which is make the course pretty short at 4900+ yards but no less challenging with the many sloping fairways, bunkers and false fronts. The 18th is one of the toughest finishing holes I’ve played. A decent score still eludes me on that one so I will look forward to returning for another try.

Played 1-7-18 in a GK outing with Brain, Nick, and Matt for a great day of golf. Course was in great shape from tee to green. Tee boxes were level and lush. Fairways were very lush and provided great lies with the ball sitting up very nice. Rough was very lush and healthy but not to difficult to get out of. Was in one greenside bunker that had very nice white sand. Greens were rolling medium/fast and a little softer then the previous times I have played here. Great practice facility with all grass range and a very nice chipping area and the other end of the driving range. Always an enjoyable course to play, and with great company only makes it better.

Overview: What a beautiful way to start off 2018 ... a #gkplays out at Rams Hill Golf Club in Borrego Springs, CA. Partly cloudy skies and a high in the upper 70's (while about 50% of the nation is in a deep freeze.). This is my third time out at Rams Hill and the course has matured nicely over the past two years.

Clubhouse: One of the most beautiful clubhouses due to the design and layout of the outdoor seating, fire pits and outside chairs. I enjoyed breakfast at the bar and ate a ham and cheese omelet, potatoes and rye toast. The waitress was very nice and gave good service. I had two pulled pork sliders on the patio after the round and they were just ok. Steve, thanks for the suggestion on the IPA beer ... it was quite good. It was nice to see that there was a lot of servers on the patio for us after the round.

Practice Facility: Kind of surprised to see that they took away the laser range finders, but that was not a big deal. There was good turf coverage on the range and the practice putting green was fast and smooth.

Course Conditions: Considering how dry the winter has been so far in California, it was nice to see that Rams Hill is still wall to wall lush green grass. There were a couple of brown patches in some of the fairways, but that is to be expected considering that Borrego Springs has not really had any measureable rain this winter. The greens have softened up and are definitely more receptive then in the past. The bunkers looked like they had new sand in them and were definitely softer then what I have been use to in the past. Finally, the 18th hole fairway always seems to be a small opportunity, but the superintendent and the maintenance team have done a nice job getting that fairway to look like the rest of the course. The 18th hole looked even more amazing from the clubhouse this year, and it's nice to say that I made par on this hole this year.

Finally: There are not many courses that I will drive 300 miles (one way) to play, but Rams Hill is definitely one of those courses.

Was reluctant to go only because of the distance involved. But I heard so much about this Course that not only would I be playing with Mr. GK himself (MR. 325 yard drive) but finally playing a course everyone is talking about. Glad I went. Course was NOT a disappointment. Course has generous fairways with plenty of good sand in bunkers (something I'm not use too). Outstanding welcoming Staff and Pro shop. What! Prov 1 range balls for the Driving range!.. Outstanding. This Course is A-1. Would I go again? probably yes. But lets Carpool next time.
