Played in GK outing and this course lived up to it's hype.
It is in fantastic shape. Tee Boxes, fairways fantastic. Rough is not that high but thick enough to cause some problems. Sand traps were excellent. Greens are hard and fast, especially if you are above the hole. Customer service was great.

Yes, yes another beautiful day at Ram's Hill with a great group of GKers! Course was in fantastic shape, weather was a bit warm, but the breeze helped keep it in check. As six said greens were hard and fast, I had two three puts, TWO! That's a testament to how tough they played! :) That and the fact that my shot on 16 that ended up 68' 7" from the hole held up for the greenie (. . . 68' 7", they don't even have greens that large at Balboa Park!) is more proof to the hardness of the green complexes.
Tees: great
Fairways: almost perfect
Rough: short-ish, but sticky
Bunkers: fluffy . . . it took me awhile to realize I needed to use all the bounce I had to get out effectively
Greens: hard and fast . . . they seem to get harder as the day went on, but also seemed to slow down ever so slightly (that or all just got gun shy?)
POP: just short of 4.5 we weren't in a hurry and weren't getting pushed :)
Customer service: "Top notch! Top notch!" From the time you enter the gate until you leave you are treated very, very well by a friendly, helpful and professional staff
Restaurant: We all gathered in the restaurant/bar after our rounds and I found the food tasty and reasonably priced.
Overall: If you haven't been to Ram's Hill you really need to get out there!

What a fun day out in the middle of nowhere with so many GK'ers on hand at such a fantastic course. No real need to go into detail as the course continues to be in stellar shape on every level. The greens were super firm and fast, which when paired with some truly evil pin placements, made for a tough day for scoring. This course is generally very forgiving off the tee, but is very tough on and around the greens, especially when they are firm and extremely hard to hold on approaches and even on some short pitches/chips.

Special congrats to casssiusclay for his hole-in-one on #5, even though the groups behind decided to overlook his name on the CTP sheet. : ) And thanks for the drink!

Tough to find even the smallest thing to criticize. I would say maybe the greens are rolling like a 10 and I prefer 11 haha. Go out and play this course, you deserve it and the course deserves it

Rams Hill is the finest maintained golf course I have ever played. The fairways greens and tees were all perfect, and the course was a lot of fun. We always go to the Wells Fargo tournament in Charlotte and rams Hill was as well maintained as Quail Hollow at tournament time. My buddy and I played on March 13, and it is truly a wonderful golf course.

Ok so I went to play and see what all the fuss is about. Wow, every review is right on. Instantly one of my top five for Southern CA. Cant wait to get back for the GK plays.

Ok so I went to play and see what all the fuss is about. Wow, every review is right on. Instantly one of my top five for Southern CA. Cant wait to get back for the GK plays.
So lets just talk about the course for a short while. The condition of this place is superb!! On this day the greens were running a 12, fast but who cares what a joy, if you read them right you have a shot even at this pace. Not a ball mark to be found unrepaired. Everything here is maintained to a high level, greens, rough, fairways fringe you name it. So here are my only 3 complaints.
Found the sand to be very heavy, playable for sure but heavy never the less. The next two do not have a effect on play, but are still annoying, First the restaurant is closed until 11:00 A.M. with an early tee-time this I think should be mentioned when talking to pro-shop, secondly there is no at the turn refreshment shack, with normally isn't bad if you can get back to the club house, but your on the other end of the course so this is impossible, and finally no cart refreshments, until 12:00PM finally found the girl at the 17th tee, sorry but I will wait the extra 20 minutes.

Played the Golds (6830/73.2/137) as a 3some with Kviser & Sr129 in 4H on a very windy Monday morning with the temperature around 55. It was 34 degrees and snowing when I was 30 miles from the course @ 7 a.m., so the weather conditions were better than expected even with a wind advisory. It seemed like the wind was hurting on about 80% of the shots, constantly changing direction and gusting. We all used the Rams Hill voucher, allowing us to play for the $20 cart fee. Side note: We had a 7:40 a.m. tee time, just ahead of the men's club. 1st group of the men's club was a 3some, playing the whites, all in their own carts. We were asked to jump 2 holes ahead and come back and play 7-8 later, which we did. However, we only spent 4 hours total actually playing golf, the rest of the time was riding to/from the other side of the course to accommodate 3 guys who wanted to be home for 10:30 coffee and who thought they were entitled to play a 2 1/2 hour round no matter what. 4 hours on this course in 15-25 mph winds was NOT a slow round of golf. The greens were firm, quick and rolled well. However, while still excellent, they are beginning to show ball mark damage and were not in as good of condition as when I played here in early Jan. The fairways were very lush, with almost complete thick coverage everywhere with few divots. The rough was also very lush. Thick and long enough to make longer clubs a very risky play. The sand traps were immaculate. I don't see how a public course could maintain traps any better than these, and there are close to 100 of them total on the course. The tees were also immaculate. Few divots, mowed down close, very well maintained. The customer service was excellent. We were greeted in the parking lot on arrival and offered a ride to our car after the round. The pro shop staff was also excellent. I liked the setup of the all grass driving range with the complementary balls. Most of the range is sand, with numerous grass greens set up as targets in 25-30 yard increments so you could hit almost any club and feel like you were hitting into a green. I liked the course layout, I can see the high slope rating. Many holes are visually intimidating with 97 well placed traps and a decent amount of water. Four different sets of tees for men, all varied by 400-500 yards. The course was fair, not overly tight and an excellent test of golf.

What can I say that has not already been said? This course is in top shape. Close to immaculate conditions from tee to green, including the practice range, putting, and chipping greens. We got out at about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, just in front of the men's club. We got pushed a bit, so on the advice of the starter, we skipped two holes and came back to play them after completion of hole 18. Course marshal ensured we got placed between groups and invited us to continue to play on as much as we wanted. Too bad we had an afternoon round at nearby Borrego Springs. I am looking forward to returning soon.

Played here with Rat-Patrol @ 9:40 this morning. After checking in and with no one on the tee, the starter allowed us to tee off early at about 9:20. POP was just under 4 hours. Beautiful day, incredible weather, and hard to beat the conditions here right now. Tee boxes are immaculate. Fairways are perfect. Rough is lush and beautiful. Greens are firm and fast. Bunkers are the only thing I didn't rate a 10, and only because they weren't pristine perfect sand you find at some higher end resort courses (read: $150 price tag courses).

The course is fun and quite challenging, although the layout never really "wowed" me at any time (like I'd expect from a $150 course). I'd say it's an extremely solid, beautiful golf course in fantastic shape.
