Played 12-12-21 in the GK outing teeing off a little before noon and finishing in about 4 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were level, lush and mostly cut tight, real nice to hit from. Fairways for the most part were in good condition with great lies except for a few areas that were still filling in. Rough was in great shape, not to long and nice to play from. Was not in any greenside bunkers, but the couple of fairway bunkers I was in were well groomed with a good amount of sand. Greens were in good shape with a few small blemishes, but rolling nice at medium/fast pace. Overall great time on a well maintained course that is fun to play.

December 12, 2021 Rams Hill Golf Club summary.

To me it's always amazing to drive thru the desert and seeing everything so dry and coming up with beautiful towns, see people having fun camping in their RV's and having lots of fun with their families. But the must surprising thing is when you arrive to the Rams Hill Golf Club Resort. Just spectacular views and residential homes.

This last Sunday had my second shot playing Rams Hill with Ron, Johnny and Gary. This time the weather was just perfect, no wind at all. This time I wanted to challenged my my self and decided to to play the gold and blue combos tees with my pro buddies. I did just find and had a great round, even though I was 50-100 yards from my buddies drives. Now lets get to the golf course, Rams Hill Club was just in a perfect shape, starting from the practice putting green, driving-range (with Practice Titleist Prov1 balls) and chipping area just class A. Customer service as always just wonderful all around proshop, cafe/restaurant and Marshall.

The tees were just class A, well maintain and you always have a level place to place the golf ball and knowing that you had a great stand. The ball debits well taking care off. The fairways wide open and very well maintain. I was so impress to see how our golfer buddies a head of us and others who played before us were fixing the fairways debits. The rough was cut to perfection and it was not to hard to hit your ball from. Sand bunkers it was fun to hit your ball as the sand was so well kept and so smooth very impressed. The greens just as the practice greens excellent and the ball was running great in my opinion. There were some greens that were very hard to read and you needed to be very careful with your ball speed otherwise your ball will roll out of the green.

I had a great round of golf and had a great time playing with my buddies. I wish I could this more often. After our round of golf we had dinner with all Greenskeeper players and enjoyed dinner and prizes. Thank you Johnny so much for the invite and opportunity to play golf course like Rams Hill Golf Club and looking forward to more events like this one.

Played on Sunday with the Golf Kings group in slightly over four hours. The drive there can be both relaxing and stressful depending on traffic. The staff was great and the facility is really top notch. The carts are great with all the bell and whistles. The tee boxes were all in nearly perfect condition and level. Most of the fairways had total coverage and provided fantastic lies. The rough was fairly thick and very consistent throughout the course. Shots could be made from it but with usually less distance than you would usually get from your club. Every hole was peppered with sand traps strategically placed to frustrate those that found them. The few that I was in were all in great condition with the best sand I've seen on any course. The greens were a little slower than in previous rounds and all had many ball marks that needed to be repaired. The surrounding area makes for some great pictures and at sunset it really cools down quickly. Definitely recommended.

Rode the gold/blue combo on 12/12/21 with Pedro, John and Ron as the last group of the Gk outing under perfect weather and scoring conditions in 4 hrs 30 minutes. 2nd time playing Rams Hill and really enjoy the layout, conditions and peace quiet of the course. There are some homes and a couple roads that you drive through with the carts going from hole to hole but pretty much its a beautiful desert style atmosphere without civilization.

Cart barn guys were super friendly loading clubs on and off. Love the post round cookie and Iwill say they have one of the best breakfast burritos around.

Range was on grass and provided pro v1s. They have a cool separate chipping area just above and to the right of the 1st tee.

Fairways for the most part provided beautiful lush lies. I recall a couple areas like number 2 right middle Fairway where they were thinner and working on some regrowth but nothing major.. Rated 8.5/10.

Putting green was quick and gave you a sample of what was ahead. Thought the greens on the course were super pure and smooth with a nice roll. They were listed at a 10.5 on the stimp in the proshop which was fairly accurate maybe just a touch slower. Thought they were in great shape. Rated 8.5/10.

Was in one greenside bunker on 13 that had perfect texture and was in 2 Fairway bunkers that were in good shape. Rated 8/10

Rough was playable fairly uniform and thick and very green. Great shape. Rated 8.5/10.

Tees were level, lush and in beautiful shape. Rated 8/10.

Real good test of golf with very nice conditions. If it was not 3 hrs 45 minutes away would be playing here multiple times per year. Great fun shot value with elevated tee boxes to let the driver rip and enough bunkers, water and native areas to keep you on your toes.

Made the annual trip to RH to join many other GKers on a perfect golf day on a course I really enjoy. Almost no wind and clear, sunny skies. Met other GKers for the first time (thanks John and Bert, as well as Ailan) and got together with The Hooter and Ohio Rob again after about 6 years! Our group struggled and fell behind after several wayward shots on the first few holes, but righted the ship and got back in position over the rest of the round.

Conditions overall were very good, as they always are here. Not pristine, as we saw scattered thin/bare areas in some fairways. Greens were firm with generally good coverage and rolled well at a very quick pace toward the valley floor. Some greens were firmer than others, and I was surprised as a well-struck 6-iron right at the flag on #16 hit 3 feet from the pin, but then bounded onto the slope behind the green. As the day went on the greens were showing footprints and spike marks quite a bit. Traps had good sand and were very playable. Tees (we played the Blue/White combo) were just fine. Rough was generally pretty lush and challenging to hit from.

Nice, comfortable dedicated room for food service and prizes afterward. Tasty BBQ pork sandwich (slaw on the side, please LOL) and RH chips. Great prizes available due to the generosity of other GKers and sponsors. Love the course and the camaraderie. Likely the last time I’ll be able to make the trip.

I was part of the GK outing here on Sunday, 12/12. I believe this is my fourth time to Rams Hill and I enjoy the experience more and more every time I play here.

I'm typically the guy who gets to the course just a couple minutes before their tee time but I was about two hours early this time so I could really enjoy the facility at a leisurely pace and I'm glad I did. I was able to take advantage of the absolutely perfect weather and the super great staff at Rams Hill. STarted the day off with a killer bloody mary from Jose in the bar and headed to the short game area at the far north end of the range. I'm not sure if people know it exists because I was there for almost an hour and never saw another soul. They have a couple shag bags full of ProV1s, two interesting greens complexes, about 4-5 bunkers and the ability to hit up to 50 yard shots. It's one of the best short game areas I've ever experienced and it was cool having it all to myself.

After some time on the practice green I hit a few balls (Prov's again) on the range which is set up to give you a feel that resembles the golf course. Definitely a great practice area.

I consider the layout of Rams Hill as a whole, rather than remembering a couple signature holes and the rest filling in. In my opinion the strength of this course is the full 18, the variety and challenge it presents and it's ability to hold your attention. It's difficult but fair, straightforward but engaging. I'm really starting to like it more and more.

As for the conditions, they're obviously better than 90% of the courses in SoCal but there was a feeling of it being early in the overseed season. As some people have mentioned there were some bare areas and I think it's just that the grass hasn't had the optimal time to thicken up. I for one had nothing but perfect lies all day but I did notice those areas that need a bit more time.

The bunkers I were in were perfect (and I love the brown edges, that just looks so cool) and the teeing areas were great. I will say that the greens rolled a bit slower than they looked but I kind of attribute that to playing later in the day, after a very busy day ahead of us. Still exceptionally good so nothing to worry about there.

All in all I absolutely love Rams Hill. It would be a blast to stay the night there, get in more than one round, maybe figure out a way to play some glow golf under the stars and just enjoy the peaceful beauty of the place. Always a strong recommendation.

Played the GK event first group out with Steve, Mark, and Tim. Great group to play with. This was my first time playing Rams Hill. I really enjoyed the design of the course. The course can be difficult in spots but fair. Solid 18 holes of golf. The greens were in overall good condition with the exception of the occasional patch in the green as Itslikeimsayin pointed out. The greens rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways had mostly good coverage with some thin areas that were mostly roped off to keep carts away. The rough had good coverage and was long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers were in good condition, fairway and greenside (I was in many). The tee boxes had good coverage and were reasonably level.

The Club House is very nice. The room our group had for food and after golf activities was large with windows overlooking the course and desert landscape. I thought the staff did a wonderful job serving the food, clearing plates, and filling water glasses. All the staff throughout the day were nice and eager to help. Most of all thanks to John for all the hard work he putts in organizing and running the GK outings.

Played in the lead group of yesterday's GK Plays here with Tim, Steve, and Wade. Fun times! After no one had teed off for a little bit, the starter let us go a little early. Then around the 6th hole, we got our first glimpse of the group ahead. The marshall came and told us he'd informed them to pick up the pace. We caught them on 10 so we went to get our tacos (thank you Rams Hill... nice touch!), and then I don't recall seeing them again until 17. Overall pace was generally in our control and we finished in about 4:30. Absolutely gorgeous day with blue skies, perfect temps and almost no wind.

Course conditions are decent based on Rams Hill standards and good relative to most other courses. Most of the greens are quite good, but a few have poorly repaired rectangular patches that are much softer than the rest of the green, so the ball rolls oddly through those spots. (9 & 17 come to mind where this impacted me.) Otherwise they're medium-fast, smooth and medium firmness. Fairways are decent; a far cry from the conditions during the first few years of Rams Hill's resurrection. They look good from afar but on top of the ball they're a little thin and there are some bare/thin spots around. Rough was sometimes more preferable than the fairways, providing lusher/fluffier lies. Also seemed overwatered in spots. My approach to 7 from the right rough was very muddy under the grass. Blue tee boxes were good. The two bunkers I was in were both very good. Overall conditions are very good compared to most Southern California courses, but the last couple years are a definite step down from the exceptionally high standards Rams Hill set for themselves five or six years ago. If I want to get really nitpicky, my caramel apple cookie was unfortunately overbaked, negating the wonderful sticky/chewiness they normally offer.

Huge thanks to the course, Johnny and the sponsors. Stoked to get a Linksoul hat and shirt! Despite conditions being a step below their usual standard, I had a great time and always enjoy the course. Can't wait to get back!
