Played the Blacks (5826/68.3/117) in slightly less than 3H as a single. never waiting a shot the entire round on a Teeoff.com special for $17.49. Partly cloudy, around 70 and little breeze today. Easy course to walk, shorter, few hills, no long walks between tee boxes.

The tees were in very good shape overall. Several had been recently resodded and almost all the divot damage was already properly maintained. Also, it looks like they are making a new tee for hole #15 that will be parallel with #14 green and stretch it out a little bit.

The fairways were good overall, lush, nice lies.

The kikuyu rough is not long but is long enough to grab your club on both full shots or chips. Lusher closer to the fairways/greens, thinner the more off the fairway you are.

The traps have thick sand and were decently maintained.

The greens putted okay, occasionally bumpy & medium speed. They held approach shots very well. While the greens today were slightly above average, they were not as good as they usually are here.

Fun, shorter course that is tougher than the scorecard would indicate because of trees, tightness and usually, the wind here. Courteous and efficient check-in, the customer service was excellent as usual with Margaret in the Pro Shop. No range, they only have a couple of cages to warm up in. No GPS on the basic carts but the sprinklers are well marked. Nice snack stand with good burgers and the drinks are good AD. Nice conditions, and for less than $18 with a cart, hard to beat. Definitely recommended.

I played here yesterday with fellow Gker Kviser. I booked a 12:21 through Golf now hot deal for $38. We arrived around noon and were able to tee off immediately. Beautiful Ventura day with temps around 70 with sunny and breezy conditions. The tees for the most part were level and in good shape. Fairways were good shape with a few bare spots around the edges. I of course found those bare spots. Bunkers had good sand and were raked. Greens were medium fast but were bumpy in some spots. Never saw the cart girl but the staff was friendly. POP was just at 4 hours. Definitely worth the hot deal price at $38.

Played here today with fellow GKer, DKnight. We had a GN Hot Deal for something like $38 riding at 12:21. We checked in and got out right away twenty minutes early. No real POP issues, but we did get slowed down a bit by the groups ahead, but total time was just a hair under four hours. Course conditions continue to improve and I was happy to see good turf coverage nearly everywhere. I always had a good lie whether I was in the rough or the fairway. We played the white tees and they were level with good coverage. Some par threes had a fair amount of divots right at the markers, but that was the only negative. Greens were medium fast and some pin placements were quite difficult if you left yourself in the wrong position: key to stay below the hole, right? I did fix plenty of ball marks all day, though. I visited a couple of bunkers and the sand was soft and plentiful, just like being on the nearby beach. Strong onshore ocean breeze today made for some challenging approaches on some of the holes.

Played the 85 years of Golf in Ventura celebration tournament at Buenaventura Friday (4/1) with kviser, 805frogger and her friend Melissa. Super time and well organized. Greens were rolling well, holding shots with only some signs of aeration about 3 weeks ago. I was impressed how quickly they were healing. By next week they should be even better. The fairways and rough had good coverage and I can only imagine as the temps continue to warm up how well their Paspalum fairways will look in a month. Already fine to hit off and in overall very good shape. Bunkers in great shape with quality sand and well raked. Tee boxes in good shape. Lush and not as much divot damage as you might expect for a short course. The layout is always fun for me to play. Short course where you can find good birdie opportunities and some chances for eagle. For the long hitters the par 5's can be reached in two and there are a few par 4’s you might want to make a go at. But get a little loose on your tee shot and you’ll quickly find some difficult trees to negotiate around and even some OB. Not striking your irons well then be ready to hit some bunkers shots as the greens are well guarded. And on all the holes be sure to putt well because the greens are very undulating. I always enjoy the warm/friendly staff and professionalism. Green fees, grill and on course service is affordable with good selection. If you like to walk, it's a relaxing stroll with comfortable beach temps. I’m sure I will enjoy another round here this year. Recommended.

I played yesterday in Buenaventura's tournament "Celebrating 85 Years of Golf in Ventura County" with Johnny GK, Nadia (Kemper Sports), and her friend, Melissa. Big thanks for to all for allowing me into the event; it was a blast! The course is in great shape overall. Despite the greens being recently punched, they rolled nicely as the holes are almost completely healed in. I would estimate another two weeks and it should be perfect. It has been a while since I played here and the fairways are in as good a shape as I have ever seen them. Great coverage of turf nearly everywhere in the fairways and rough. The bunkers were in fantastic shape with ample amounts of soft, white beach sand. The tees were level and firm without a lot of divot damage. I am happy to say that this is one of my favorite courses in Ventura Co. and it makes me happy to see it in such great shape.

Showed up to play Sunday (3-20). I guess the greens had been punched so they decided to not let people on the greens at all. You had to play the course in reverse! From a temporary tee box next to the green to the real tee box that had been shaved and had an 8" hole with a flag placed in it. GPS won't work, totally a waste of time.

Fairways were semi-lush with a few bare or brown spots. Rough was not that long and fairly easy to hit from. Found two green side bunkers that had nice soft sand. Greens were in pretty good shape rolling medium speed and holding shots nicely.

Price was great and I would play this course again for sure...

The course was in fantastic shape. The greens rolled smooth, a little slow, but still a decent pace. Very few ball marks.
Tee boxes were level with good coverage. Fairways were like hitting off carpet, very lush with almost perfect lies on every shot. Rough was a mix of thin in places to lush in others, but generally in good shape, Ran into a couple spots that were a little soggy but off the fairway so shouldn't be there to start with. Was in one trap that played great with fluffy sand.

I would definitely recommend as the conditions were some of the nicest I have played recently.
