Walked the Blacks (5826/68.3/117) in 4h, 25m on a partly cloudy, 65 degree Monday afternoon with GDR23. We caught a 2some on the 4th hole and waited practically every shot the rest of the round. Little wind, we enjoyed an excellent $16 rate on EZLinks.com. The greens putted nice, medium fast and rolled well. The fairways were so-so. Dormant bermuda that usually provided a good cushion with some rye & kikuyu mixed in. There were also many noticeable GUR areas, some bare spots along with the occasional lush area. The rough was often better than the fairway, kikuyu mowed down, generally good coverage. The sand traps were excellent, looks like they have been recently filled with nice, fine sand. The tee boxes were very mediocre. They had alot of repaired divots and many areas that were sanded with maintenance issues. Fun little course, not long but tight in places with many mature trees that really come into play on anything crooked. The layout has five par 3's & three par 5's. Good mixture of short, medium and longer playing par 4's. The customer service was excellent, the pro shop got us right out ahead of our tee time in front of several 4somes. No beverage cart, but they have an excellent snack shop with many options @ reasonable prices that I have enjoyed on many numerous trips here.
