Was in Westlake Village for Thanksgiving and my sister in law suggested this course. Played Thanksgiving morning for their 9 and breakfast deal. $30. Played with SIL's boyfriend and a local single who joined us. Teed off on #10 at 7:15 and temp was chilly but warmed up for a perfect morning. I really like this course. It's in good condition, lots of trees and is very challenging. Lots of doglegs and the greens were fast & difficult. I'd like to play all 18 sometime.

Out for my second round of the day this afternoon 9/2/14 with Nickesquire1. We teed off around 1:30pm. Paid $18.00. I thought the fairways were lush for Los Robles standards. They have thicker kikuya fairways here. The greens were decent with a couple greens on the front showing some bumpiness. The tees here have some divot damage on par 3's but not to bad. Was not in any bunkers but they seemed to look decent maybe a little crusty on top. Layout is strong on the back...staff friendly.

First time here in almost 2 years, played the blues (68.5/120/6000) in 3H, 45M with GDR23 on a prepaid GolfNow deal for $20 including a cart. The greens putted nicely, medium fast & held approach shots well. I was only in one trap, but they looked to be in very good shape overall. Both the fairways and rough were nice overall, however I could also call them hit and miss. There were large areas that were very lush, but there were also smaller areas that were thin all the way to bare spots and some areas that had severe divot damage. The tees were very mediocre, many needed divot repair and the turf was worn thin in many spots. It appeared to me that they were not rotating the tee locations as often as they should be. Customer service from both the pro shop & the starter was excellent and the cart gal came by 3 different times.

Played 8.22.14, greens are in fantastic shape, tee boxes also, fairways are a bit thin in areas but overall the course is in good shape and is still the best bang for the dollar around. Staff is alway... Continue »

Played 8.22.14, greens are in fantastic shape, tee boxes also, fairways are a bit thin in areas but overall the course is in good shape and is still the best bang for the dollar around. Staff is always friendly, they have some great deals going on right now for their 50th anniversary promotion. They have a 15" cup on the putting green and staff said that they are going to be putting them on the course on a regular basis. That could be a lot of fun!

I was so disgusted with the conditions at this golf course, I couldn’t wait to get home to write this review. I have lived in Thousand Oaks for 37 years and I cannot recall when the Los Robles course has been in such poor condition. It was ugly out there. As far as I am concerned, there are no fairways, just clumps of something they hope passes for grass, mixed with a lot of dirt. I can honestly say the greens were in very good condition but what good are they if you can’t get to the green. Here is something else to consider. The fees charged to play this course are way out of line, considering the conditions. There is no way on earth they should be charging what they do. This is a municipal course and the city should be embarrassed. I have recently played at other courses, all within 15 to 20 minutes driving from Los Robles. I will name four of them. All are in far, far better condition. Three of them are less expensive to play, with one costing the same. They are River Ridge, Sterling Hills, Camarillo Springs and Simi Hills. Your money would be far better spent at these courses.

Recently, there was an article in the local newspaper discussing ways to increase tourism to Thousand Oaks. Those wanting to attract tourism to Thousand Oaks had better take a long, hard look at Los Robles Golf Course. I only live five minutes away and I have no plans to play there ever again.

Played Los Robles Sunday 5/4 at 7:36am. POP was good at about 4:15. The course is in really good shape right now. Tee boxes were all nice and lush. The fairways, although cut a bit tight, were very and green and lush. In the past they have been splotchy, but Sunday they looked pretty good. The greens beautiful and receptive. They are still a bit bumpier than I prefer, but they held lines pretty well. On long putts you could definitely see the ball hoping across the green. Running around a 10 on the stimp.

It makes me happy to say Los Robles is a very solid option right now. I shot my career low on Sunday... a 6-over 76, so I really have nothing to complain about. :)

Los Robles is one of a several courses that I have had opportunity to revisit in the last few months after not having played them in years. I like the layout because of the interesting variety of holes. I was there at the invitation of a friend to join up with his 11:10 AM threesome yesterday (10/16) and, having checked the GK aeration report (because I like to know before I go), I was hoping the greens would be sufficiently recovered from punching a couple of weeks ago. As it turned out the greens were not an issue. While there is still the faintest ghost pattern from aeration, I'd say the greens were just about recovered—running at something a little better than a medium pace. They were receptive and rolled true enough. Unexpectedly, the fairways were another matter. They were consistently tightly mowed, making for tight, thin, lies. There was a general striation in the mowing pattern that suggested to me some kind of aeration had gone on vs. just a regular mowing. There were some brown areas throughout as well as patches of mixed grasses on some fairways, but I didn't experience actual bare or hardpan areas. While I would have preferred more than minimal setup under the ball, I didn't have a huge problem with the lies. But for at least one member of the group, it was giving him fits and definitely detracted from his experience. The tee boxes were similarly shorn so that even though they technically had grass coverage, the first (incorrect) impression was of almost no coverage. Generally though, the tee boxes were nicely level and up to the task of getting teed off. No comment on the bunkers because I never visited one. The rough was generally reasonable and playable around the greens. Around the course in general, it ranged from nicely playable near the fairway to dirt and hardpan, depending on where and how far off the fairway you went. Pretty standard stuff for a muni, and you're not supposed to be out in the wilderness anyway. So while I might give points for a groomed and developed rough, I don't deduct points for a spare or mixed quality. The course was pretty open and we had no one near us until the 9th hole—a two-some we let through on the 11th. Not a quick group, we were probably just on a 4.5 hour pace. So, while not in great overall form (and one should be aware of the conditions one is signing up for), the course is definitely playable and I enjoyed it and the challenges presented. However, I paid a non-residaent rate of $38 to walk this course and I would say it is not worth that even when the conditions are good. It would have been $53 with a cart. Dude! I can get a time at Oak Quarry for that! Los Robles' twilight rates would probably be more in line with the value. For twilight rate, I might play it again if it was local. For the average golfer, I'd say give it a couple of weeks to recover overall and then check it out. If the fairways fill in a bit, the greens will be very good and the experience might be much improved over mine.

Because of geography, I rarely play here any more. I used to play here a lot when I lived in LA, but from South OC, it's just too far to travel. The overall condition of the course was fine. I could lots of improvements from when I played here. Staff was great and $26 for senior is well worth it. However, playing from the "tips" I found the back nine just too much for my game to handle. Some of the those par 4s are brutal. (Moving up to the blue tees would not make that much difference. (Moving from 459 to 443, 455 to 435, 459 to 449 just does change the hole enough)

I liked the "old design", not the one where there were 7 holes north of the freeway, the one where #9 was a par 5 and #18 was a tough par 3. Oh well !

Still like the course, but I suspect it will be a while before I return
