played 5-21 with longball23 and his buddy mack. great morning for golf teed off at 7:20 nobody in front of us and only one twosome going through us at the turn pretty much had the course to are selves. played ridgeline/canyon crest rotation. tee boxes fairly level with plenty of grass. fairways in really good shape at times almost felt like ball was on a tee. rough not to thick and easy to hit out of but seemed to grab the ball pretty good on the side hills.only in one bunker with medium firm sand and in good shape. greens are rolling medium fast and true a little soft so you could fire at the pin. great layout with a lot of elevation changes and a mixture of really tough holes and some easy birdie holes.course knowledge is a real plus out here. pro shop and starter very friendly and there to answer any questions.

Played Moorpark CC with my buddy Mack and buddy RGM2525 at 7:20am this morning Monday 5/21/12. Played Ridgeline/Canyon Crest Combo from blue tees. Got a super discount online. Moorpark CC is in good shape right now. Fairways were lush mostly all green grass and very few burned out areas. Greens were very soft and held irons like darts. I was surprised how receptive they were. I don't spin the ball that much and even I had a couple approach shots zip back. The greens putted fairly pure. I like the bent grass greens here very much and always seem to putt well here. Start the ball online here and you can make a few putts. Very little poa creeping into them. The rough was lush in some spots around the green. The fringes had just been watered by the morning maintenance crew and were soft and wet. Was only in one bunker and it had soft sand and was maintained nicely. Tee boxes were lush with only minor divot damage. Most of the tees were level and in good shape. Pace of play this morning was 3 hours 45 minutes but we were taking out time and could have played much faster. Very nice starter and practice area with grass driving range. This course is worth every penny and if you can find a deal even better. Strategy a must here with many elevated tees and canyons to avoid. Well done Moorpark CC.

Played 5-10 on a golf hub deal for $29 and a replay for $25.course is in good shape greens are soft and a little slow but still roll good. fairways and rough in good shape. tee boxes level with plenty of grass. sand traps ok some i noticed had some good sized rocks in them. costumer service is always great here.

Played Moorpark yesterday with JohnnyGK. This was my first time at Moorpark and after reading many of the previous reviews, I was not disappointed. First thing I would say is, this is a MUST play for everyone, regardless of skill level. Five sets of tees and a combo set combining blue/white. So there is an acceptable choice for everyone. We played the Canyon Crest and Ridgeline 9's and I look forward to going back and playing the Creekside 9. The minute you drive into the parking lot, you become aware that this is going to be a great day of golf. Great staff at all levels; grass practice area; chipping area and a great putting green. What set this day of golf apart for me, was the layout of the course. Each hole takes on its own unique character and provides anticipation going to the next hole. You have to play this course to appreciate it. No amount of description by any of us GK'ers can truly provide enough adjectives to really describe the course to others. As you know many courses are going through aeration and maintenance presently. So is/has Moorpark. But you really have to look to see the work and when you do, you will also truly appreciate what a course can do to mask the obvious and make it appear that it did not exist. This was the first course I have seen that has gone to these lengths for their customers and I for one greatly appreciated that service. If you love golf and all of us on this site do, then by all means find a way to play Moorpark CC and find out for yourself what this truly great golf course has to offer in the way of golfing enjoyment. I also encourage you to go to the Moorpark website and view each hole and its description to further excite your future tee time.

Played Moorpark Country Club yesterday with GK’er 24hourgolf. Had a great time. As expected the golf course was in great shape and pace of play was fast. We teed it up at 1:40pm (got to love the longer days now) and finished in just under 4 hours. The weather was in the low 80’s, clear and light wind. Made for a very comfortable round and great views. Greens were in great shape, med-fast/soft/smooth - with only trace evidence of aeration. Fairways lush. Rough lush. Tee Boxes lush and level. Bunkers well manicured with most containing high quality sand. I’ve said in many previous reviews of this course and its still holds true…alike many other public courses that have “Country Club” in their name, Moorpark CC backs it up. Amazing clubhouse, practice facilities, service and golf course. - BTW took a photo of the 9th hole on the Canyon Crest 9. Love that hole!

Conditions on Creekside (my favorite nine) are pretty much immaculate, except for the recently aerated greens which are at about 85%. They still show some holes and are a bit slow with occasional bumps. They are also a bit softer than usual as they try to get them back. Give them a week or two more and they should be dreamy. The rest of the Creekside nine was just spot-on.

Canyon Crest was similar - just a few areas on the fringes that were being worked on and re-sodded. But nothing you couldn't play around.

For a GN afternoon special @ 50 bucks this really is a steal right now. A few more weeks for the greens to get back to 100% and it will be daylight robbery. Windy in the pm's by the way.....

Best greens I have putted on this winter by far - shame they are about to aerate them. Fast, firm and true helps your game and confidence with the putter a lot!

Not sure I would rate the rest of the course as lushly as previous posters as the dry winter is clearly showing its effects, but compared to anywhere else in the area it is greener for sure.

Wind was howling which can make this place a bear as judging for wind/slope makes club selection very daunting. Even without the wind there are many challenges as almost every hole has hazards in tight. Vastly under-rated on the USGA card IMO.

Played 2/21 in the GK Cup and boy was it a treat. I'm not sure if I've seen a better maintained course coming out of the winter months. Greens and fairways were spectacular. Everything ran at a good pace and lines were true. Rough wasn't very penalizing which was good considering the windy conditions we had during the round. The traps had some clumpy sand but there was plenty of it and not difficult to get out of.

The course has a lot of character with some crazy elevation changes and danger waiting to gobble up any stray shot. If you're hitting the ball straight you should do well, but if you're off just a little... you best hope there are a few extra sleeves in your bag. I wish I could pick the course up and move it about an hour closer to me so I can play it more. Great track and can't wait to go back.
