Rode the Blues this morning 1/24/22 at 1050am under sunny skies with about a 10mph wind. Played Ridgeline/Canyon Crest combo. Joined by 2 very nice guys and we waited on every shot multiple minutes for a brutal 5 hr round. Really cool proshop staff and beautiful practice facilities. This place always has a special place in my heart as I got hitched here.

These greens are awesome! Smooth, very quick probably the fastest I have seen them in some time. Only number 8 on Canyon Crest was patchy and bumpy. Would rate all other 17 greens in the 8.5 range.

Fairways cut tighter with a nice lush padding base. Really good shape for late January! Wish I could have seen more of them. Rated 7.5/10

Tees level and lush and in really nice shape. Rated 7.5/10

Was in one greenside bunker on Canyon 3 that was raked and contained just enough sand in it.

Rough was not that penal. Cut down to playable shape. Nice contrast in color with the beautiful green fairways. Rated 7/10.

Love the shot value and challenge of this course. Bring your A game here or be ready to get punished. Highly recommended.

With a 10:40am tee time on Monday 11/8, and picture perfect weather, I was in for a great experience. Our group played the Canyon Crest and Ridgeline nines. MPCC is in absolutely excellent condition from tee to green! The only negative about the course - and it is very trivial - is that the grass on the tee boxes was just a little too long. The fairways are very lush and green with decent roll out. Great lies abound anywhere and everywhere in the fairways. What a pleasure to see and play on. The rough along the fairways is not much longer than the turf on the fairways. So, easy to hit from.

I was in two greenside bunkers, and they had plenty of good quality sand. They were easy to hit from. I noticed that several bunkers had been removed from the course, and all of the remaining bunkers appeared to have new, beautiful and abundant sand in them. The greens were medium fast and smooth rolling. They were soft enough to hold good approach shots. I can't remember a time when Moorpark CC was in better condition than right now! This is a must play in my opinion.

Played this AM at 810. Ended up as a 2-some as the guys we were supposed to go with went out very early by themselves (according to the starter). They weren't members of our group so it was all good with us. Seemed as though we were the last of whatever the morning "rush" was since there was no one behind us the entire day. We had to wait a few times because of the 3-some in front of us and really because of the 4-some in front of them. All good though, still finished in almost exactly 4 hours.

Played Canyon & Ridge.

Tees - 8/10...could always find level, lush ground to hit from. Few of the boxes were a bit abused but a single step back from the standard area put you just fine. Only knock i have is the way they aligned the rocks to face no where near the fairways. If not aware, it could really mess you up mentally as you'd be lining up in a direction not at all where you want to hit.

Fairways - 9/10. Great shape. Always had good coverage. Didn't see too many divots, meaning the grounds crew did a great job patching and keeping it healthy. Only complaint is that the grounds crew was SOAKING the fairways while we were out there. Many times we'd get right to the "go zone" and be squishing under our feet and fighting the impact to our swings.

Bunkers - was in 3 today. 2 greenside and 1 fairway. 2 of the 3 were cement-like (1 fairway and 1 greenside). The other was great. Filled with sand, soft and fluffy, easy to hit out of.

Greens - 7/10. Multiple greens had large patches of replacement green/grass. They rolled true and were good speed so unless you were in the patched area you had a good putt. In the patches, you could definitely tell they were not the same grass as they were slower and the ball bounced a little.

Grounds crew - 3/10. While I commend them for their work on the fairways, the general lack of care for people playing (watering the green while we're sitting in the middle of the fairway trying to hit into the green, turning on the sprinklers as we hit our tee shot and are driving down to it in the fairway, cruising down/through paths as we're teeing off instead of waiting, etc.). I know they're just trying to get their jobs done and completely respect them for that, but there is no need for them to be walking around with the hose soaking the green as I'm hitting my approach from 150 or less. (and no, I can't whistle loud enough to get their attention - and yes, I tried.)

Went out 6/24 at 2:00 as a two-some with my buddy. The round was a birthday gift to him from my wife and I and his first time there. We played the Creekside and Ridgeline 9s from the white tees. Conditions were excellent. It was a beautiful, cloudless day with a 2-club breeze through most of it to factor in. With one minor exception coming to mind, the teeing grounds were level with nice coverage. Fairways are in beautiful shape, offering consistent lies throughout. If there were thin or browned patches, I don't recall them. The rough near the fairways is well kept and length ranged from little issue to impacting advancement. Further off the fairway you can get into serious trouble with some deep natural growth and rugged terrain. I was in two bunkers and found them well groomed and playable. Sand was a bit granular, firm but not overly and the ball tended to sit up. Green-side areas were well groomed and set up the short game well. The greens' surfaces were very clean with a minimum of ball marks, running a brisk, medium quick — fast but not twitchy and you could play from above the hole. I think the practice green may have been a bit quicker but not radically. My buddy was not striking it well and was finding the course particularly challenging for his first look. On a better day he would probably be OK here, but all three nines have their challenges and I would not recommend it to high handicappers. There are a lot of altitude changes and forced carries to deal with. But the altitude changes mean there are great views all around the course. The driving range and practice facilities are all you could ask for. The clubhouse has a very nice, but not stuffy, private course feel to it and the staff is friendly and well organized. I like the challenge, conditions and facilities and enjoy the rare playing opportunities I get here. Great back patio to hang out for food or a drink. It feels special. Recommended.

Had a thoroughly delightful round at Moorpark CC on Monday, May 17. We played the Canyon Crest/Creekside nines. Overall, the course is in excellent shape, with one exception: the bunkers. Although I was not in a bunker today, all of them were VERY firm (bordering on hard) and mostly dirt. You could get out of them with a very good shot, but it was challenging.

The rest of the course; tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in very nice condition. The fairways are not as green as I've seen them at Moorpark, but they provide excellent lies and decent roll out. I don't recall any bare areas on the course. The greens rolled medium/fast. They were smooth and more on the firm side. But they held well struck approach shots nicely. I highly recommend the course right now.

I was partnered with a single with a 9:40am tee time at Moorpark Monday 4/12/21. The course was not crowded at all. We breezed through 18 holes in 3 hours 15 minutes. Never saw a golfer in front of us. The course is in Excellent condition. The fairways are green, lush and still provide decent roll out. Tee boxes were a little shaggy on some holes, but never a problem. The rough just off the fairways is not deep (1 inch or so) and not penal. If you are in the hillsides surrounding the fairways you are in very deep stuff.

I was in 1 bunker and it had good firm sand: easy to hit from. The greens were smooth, very receptive, and medium speed. Right now, Moorpark is a delight to play. I highly recommend it.

Rode the Blues this morning 1/4/2021 at 10:10am off as a single catching a nice twosome John and Vincente on hole 7 tee. POP was 4 hrs 15 minutes on a beautiful perfect scoring day with hardly any wind and temps in the low 60's. I played the Canyon Crest to Ridgeline combo. Very friendly staff inside pro-shop and a nice practice facility. Carts have dividers and a nice GPS system. This is my second time playing here in the last several weeks and the greens are just flat awesome. Very quick chipping and putting wise and holding irons like absolute darts. Perfect combination in my mind. Most greens are large and have some swale to them. Rated 8.5/10 Fairways have great padding at this time with all dormant grass. Its a striking beautiful contrast to the very green tee boxes and rough and of course beautiful greens. Fairways 7/10. Tees that I played were all lush, green and level. Rated 8/10. Was in bunker on 6 on Ridgeline that contained beautiful thick beach sand. Rating that bunker a 8/10. Rough along the fairways and greens were lush and green anywhere from 2-3 inches and in good shape. Rated 8/10 I always love coming here for the views, challenge and nice course conditions. This is a top notch facility. One of the guys I played with was a member and the annual fees are a good deal. Highly Recommend Moorpark CC.

Late review here after a very stressful week. Rode the blacks on Monday 12/14/20 joined by a very nice 2 ball.

Covid-19 restrictions pins left in, masks required in the proshop. Range open and putting green open. Carts had divider's. This is my second round wearing a mask while playing and I'm getting used to it.

The course is really in great shape. Not much change from couple weeks ago with the Gk gurus. I played the Ridgeline/Canyon Crest combo and our 3 ball thoroughly enjoyed the day. Pop was around 4 hrs with some minor waiting.

The greens were just flat out awesome. Rated 9/10 rolling super quick and holding approach shots very nicely. If you short side yourself with as quick as the greens are you will really have your work cut out to get into gimme range. Greens are probably some of the best in the county!

Fairways mostly dormant nicely padded grass. Rated 7/10.

Tees beautiful, lush, green and fairly level. Rated 7.5/10

Was not in any bunkers but they looked nicely raked and on the firmer side.

Rough in nice shape. Fairly manageable. Rated 7.5/10.

I really enjoy playing MPCC. It is challenging but fair. And requires lot of different type shots to get around the course. Today (12/14/20), the course is in very good shape. The fairways have good coverage, great lies, and good rollout. For the most part. the rough around the fairways was short and not difficult to hit from, with a few exceptions. I was in one fairway bunker and one greenside bunker. Both had very nice firm sand that a pleasure to hit from. The apron around most greens was cut quite short and good to chip from. The greens were medium fast, but being above the hole made it difficult to find the right speed. You were either in the hole or somewhat past it. The greens held shots very well, were soft and rolled smoothly. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I highly recommend playing here.
